norvasc toprol

I'm a 64 yrs. old woman who used to take Diovan 320 mg. & Toprol 50 mg. for my B.P. My B.P. readings was okay but my Doctor discontinued the Toprol because my heart rate usually on the 40's. I am currently taking Norvasc 5mg. with the Diovan 320 mg. So far, my B.P. readings is very good, 110/70. But eversince I started the Norvasc, my left leg is swelling and it is becoming worst. I'd like to ask my Doctor to discontinue the Norvasc.

I have extensive CAD with mutiplable stent placement in the past 22 months, and have high blood pressure (Usally 180/110 And higher), what effect does the high blood pressure have on CAD and angina. I am on bp meds. (norvasc, imdur, toprol XL, spirolactone, valturna, cattapress tts, iron, dexilant & carfate).

I have seen three cardiologists (we have homes in different states) and have gone from Norvasc to Cardizem plus Metropolol, then Bisopherol and when we returned to Florida the cardio doc put me on Cardizem yet again plus baby aspirin. Eating, reclining, or turning over in my sleep causes pounding and/or fluttering heart. I am affected daily and nightly and feel as I am not in control of my life any more...this affects everything. I only take 30mg. Cardizem as needed....

I had been doing this for 3 months prior. I have lost 50 lbs since Jan. and I was taken off Norvasc because my BP was low and was causing fatigue problems, and problems with GERD. Now when I go and ride the bike my heart rate goes up slowly to 140 BPM but when I quit my heart rate stays at about 100-112 most of the day. I feel no other problems (lightheaded, or pain in my chest for E.G.). I do take hydrochlorthizide for BP but my BP is 119/70.

I was slowly weened off Toprol xl and Diovan - about 8 months ago - and put on ccb -verapamil and dieretic maxzide iv been on them for about 4 months - and have been having problems, such as ankles swelling. and closeing throat when eatting! as well bloating belly conditions. over the past month iv noticed my face is always red in color. and my left eye has been twitching off and on.. I seem to dehydrate rapid and cant hydrate fast enough - even when I cutt down on the dieretic med.

( My Bp at home runs around 190/145 plus) I take valturna 300/325mg, coreg 25mg, spironolactone 100mg, hydralazine 100mg, norvasc 10mg, imdur 120mg, clonidine 0.3mg, plavix, aspirin, carafate and dexilant, and a anti nausea med. some of which I take several times a day, some how I feel that my bp is reacting negatively to all the meds.

I was on Norvasc but my Dr. changed to Cardizem, I have trouble swalloing and the Norvasc dissolved in my mouth quickly to make it easier to take, the Cardizem Er is a big capsule that is hard to take, should I ask my Dr to go back on Norvasc?? they both seem to work equally well....

Thank you for your input. I increased my aerobics to 30 minutes daily, have added 478 breathing and am trying to lose another 5 pounds, I am 138 and 5/7. No alcohol. Numbers seem better but there is definitely an emotional component, and I do not know what to do about that without tranquilizers in which case BP medicine is similar.

Mother just started on Norvasc already on Tenormin. Now I've heard there is a problem with the two drugs together causing heart failure. Is that really happening? Please my mother will stop Norvasc unneccassarily if I can't find out the real information about this. She is limited on drug options so this is important. Thanks so very much.

In the past 13 months I have had placed 10 stents, two APril 2009 in the LAD two more in August 2009 in the Distal & M/D LAD due to restonis, December 2009 in the 3 LAD , 1 ramus, & 1 ost. rca in April 2010 one more in the LAD also due to restonis, I have also been told that I have 95% blockage off the LAD in one of the artery that is to small for stenting and that there are two blockage on the back of the heart that are betweeen 60 & 70%.

It was decided to add Norvasc 5mg INSTEAD of Nifedipine, since Norvasc was used/tolerated well in the past. Began taking Norvasc 5mg along with Lorsartan 100mg and Atenolol 25mg (all 1x daily) approximately 3 days ago, and the blood pressure is still running extremely high. This morning reading was 186/85 and tonight 176/110!!! Worried that this can be dangerous. What should be done? How long until the BP goes to a "normal" range? Does the doctor need to increase the Norvasc dosage?

1mg 2 x day. However, the Norvasc is not working after 12 hrs. My B/P is 150/113 12 hrs after taking the norvasc. Can I take a clonidine .1 mg along with the norvasc?

When I take the generic for Norvasc, my feet swell; this does not happen when I do not take the medication. Will natural diaretics help with this. My diastolic pressure hovers around 90; systolic comes down easily with the Norvasc; diastolic is slower to respond.

I have recently gone off Toprol XL after ~ 1 year of tx due to it making me feel sluggish and making exercise difficult. This has been 2 weeks. Last week, my doctor also switched my verapamil ER (300mg) to Norvasc (10 mg). For the last several days my heart has felt it is racing. Because my BP meds were switched up, I have been monitoring my BP which in turn has a HR output. My resting HR is now anywhere from 90 - 109 BPM.

Is there any other drug out there that will work the same way to open up small blood vessels like Norvasc but wont have the "bad swelling of legs and feet?" Anyone, please me know know, looking forward to hearing from you...

I have started taking Norvasc for Hypertension and am having side effects such as nausea, headache, and it seems to be causing some eye pain and pressure. My concern is that I had retinal detachment surgery in March of 2008 and have not had any pain until I started taking Norvasc 5mg. daily. Is this a side effect that is normal and will it subside or is it a reason to discontinue this drug?

I went for a consult with a cardiologist a few weeks ago for tachcardia issues not controlled by my Norvasc or Toprol. Had an EKG, Echo, and 24 hr. Holter monitor. I was totally caught off guard when he said my Echo showed a small mass (0.6 x 1.3 cm) inside my right atrium (from what I have read, it sounds like this is extremely rare). I am scheduled in 2 days for a cardiac MRI to confirm the diagnosis.

m also taking Norvasc. Should these medications be taken together? The Norvasc was prescribed a number of years ago by a different doctor for Migraine prevention. It hasn't helped my migraines but I've continued to take it. Since they are both blood pressure meds, I'm doubtful I should take both.

9 170 but my blood pressure is always fine at home i do suffer from anxiety but it goes thru the roof when i see a doctor or go to the ER i am 27 years old, i have to see a doc once a week for another condition, but it never fails my pulse and BP rises very high in doctors settings, once i come home both my pulse and pressure is fine again , my worry and problem is how much damage is being done to my heart when my blood pressure spikes like this once a week?

For 3yrs I had controlled HT w/Lisin/HCTZ 20/25 & Norvasc 5mg. I was a very healthy 44yo Fe, 4'10 110lbs. In Jan 07 my ins co said they wanted me to switch from Norvasc to Lotrel because they were "the same". My Dr kept me on the Lisin/HCTZ & added Lotrel 5/40. 12 days later I collapsed. At the ER my BP was 56/48, I was discharged 3 hrs later at 80/54. Things haven't been the same since.

I'm taking Beta Blockers too, Toprol XL 50mg. I'm 30 years old, am I supposed to take these forever?? I've read that you should not stop taking Beta Blockers suddenly, b/c it could increase risk of complications. I guess your suppossed to slowly decrease dosages until you stop. Is that correct? Does anyone know about long term side effects of Beta Blockers? Good luck on your echo.

I suffered with angina for several years. Recently, I had angina that would wake me out of a dead sleep. It was diagnosed as vasospasms. I was put on Norvasc a month ago. I haven't has any angina, stable or variant. Norvasc works great for me. I have some swelling and slight dizziness with the Novasc, but the benefits far out weigh the side effects.

then tonight I went to take my medicine for my angina and a light went off in my brain --- I started a new drug, Norvasc (a calcium channel blocker) for my angina in mid-June. This just so happens to coincide with when my bladder took charge. Could there be a connection? I sure think so from what I have found on the web. Several sites list incontinence as a primary side effect of Norvasc for women. These sites though are more anecdotal and not fact based.

I have been on Toprol for 3 years and have put on twenty pounds use to be a runner but I cannot find enogh energy to start back I have tried and tried, I have been through a couple of stress tests with very good results doctor thinks could just be in my "electrical " system he is reluctant to take me off Beta Blockers but I want my old life back, can I ween off Toprol to see what happens? Only other medical history is Chrone's and I have been in remisssion for six years.
