Common Questions and Answers about Norvasc side effects message boards

norvasc

Avatar f tn I think u may not be able to sleep cos ur bp is too high and thats quite dangerous, usually i cant get any sleep if my bp rises above 150/90. Side effects of atenolol for me are slow pulse, weak erection, weakness and tiredness, confusion, difficulty taking quick decisions.
Avatar n tn As you know Atenolol is not used anymore as a first-line anti-hypertensive. Lisonopril and Losarten are far more effective with fewer side effects. A BP of 101/60 is to low. Much too low. I would have your physician contact the manufacturer of the drug Atenolol (and the U.S. FDA) for suggestions. In the case of the FDA a specific individual is assigned jurisdiction over a specific drug. Both the FDA and the manufacturer will respond to questions posed by a medical professional.
Avatar m tn I would like to know if these are side effects of the meds or if it is possible i have some disease that affects my joints/disks as well as raises my BP?
Avatar n tn Yes - go to oprah.com and view the message boards. Click on Health, then Immunizations and then Reactions to Gardasil. Be forwarned - it has some scary side effect information. But knowledge is power. Check it out.
Avatar n tn I always like to learn as much as possible about my medications as well. They say not to because you may worry about side effects that may occur but I do it anyway and give the meds a chance before I worry about that. Unfortunately I have no knowledge about the medicine you are talking about but there are a lot of forums on Medhelp to include anxiety as well some that may pertain to the reason you have to take the norvasc.
Avatar f tn I have started taking Norvasc for Hypertension and am having side effects such as nausea, headache, and it seems to be causing some eye pain and pressure. My concern is that I had retinal detachment surgery in March of 2008 and have not had any pain until I started taking Norvasc 5mg. daily. Is this a side effect that is normal and will it subside or is it a reason to discontinue this drug?
Avatar f tn I have been taking zoloft for 10 days now and I feel really anxious and nervous, I feel shortness of breath can anyone tell me if these are side effects and if they will go away. I don't know if I should stop taking it I just lost my insurance so I can't go back to the dr that prescribed them for me can anyone help me. Right now I'm also taking levaquin, and medrol and norvasc, enalapril. Can I still take my ativan for the anxiety. Any anwers will be greatly appreciated thank you.
Avatar f tn I am taking this med for blood pressure but now my legs are retaining fluid and I am having breathing problems are these side effects? I think I may even have some fluid on the lungs.
Avatar n tn Is there a clinical study and shows femara vs placebo rather than femara vs tamoifen (novartis trial)? What is the general recommendation? Can you stop femara if side effects become a quality of life issue? Thank you.
Avatar f tn Had a large tumor and total thyroidectomy removed 3 weeks ago. The past few days having dull but strong headaches that go into my ear, down my jaw into my neck. I'm taking 100 mcg of Levothyroxine a day and 2 Calcitrol a day. My calcium was very low after surgery.
Avatar n tn I have some swelling and slight dizziness with the Novasc, but the benefits far out weigh the side effects.
Avatar f tn I am 32 yr old female who has been taking a diuretic since I was 20 for HBP. Now I am also on norvasc which isn't working and is causing angina. The doctor has tried me on several meds with little to no results or severe side effects that made not able to take a cpl of them. I've only had a CMP and CBC done for tests. I've been to him every month for the past year now and he just switches me to a new med without testing anything.
Avatar n tn How do metoprolol, isosorb, and benazepril together, differ from, norvasc and lanoxin.
572651 tn?1530999357 Several sites list incontinence as a primary side effect of Norvasc for women. These sites though are more anecdotal and not fact based. I'm looking for the smoking gun and want to know if any of you out there have this same problem? In the meantime I will be talking to my urogynecologist and cardiologist and trying to see what they say. The simple test will be go off the Norvasc and see if my symptoms improve.
Avatar f tn Thanks so much for taking the time to read my story & respond back. If only I'd educated myself b-4 I switched, but I trusted my Dr. Lotrel is a combo HT med containing not just a CCB as Norvasc, but also contains an ACE INH like Lisinopril. Cost wise Norvasc was going to have a $50copay ($58 reg) vs Lotrel's $25copay ($117reg) & Novartis gave me a coupon for a free month. Apparantly Lotrels patent was ending & there were new brands coming out.
Avatar m tn Hi Nick, In short, anything is possible and many meds mixing together certainly make it harder to know what is doing what. Norvasc appears to be for blood pressure normally and a list of drug interactions can be found here : http://www.rxlist.com/norvasc-drug.htm. I claim no knowledge except of what site to look at for this info. Much of it I wouldn't follow either but it will hopefully mean something to you.
Avatar m tn Norvasc has a lot of side effects. Do you know what your at home BP was usually before you started taking it?
Avatar m tn I don't know if these are symptoms of a condition or side effects of some of my meds, so can someone help? I take Norvasc, Altace, Lexapro, Crestor, AndroGel, Doxycycline Hyclate, and Advair 250/50. I have been on the first 4 for years. The last 3 have been added within the last several months. I also have Severe Sleep Apnea, but I use my APAP religiously. AHI is usually <4, but will on ocassion sneak up to 5.
343006 tn?1314446471 as I didnt have this happen before.. not even when on toprol or diovan. but did have worse side effects from them ! have you ever had anyone with these problems or symptoms , that is on verapamil or maxzide ??
Avatar n tn The pain is relieved by a medicine called nitroglycerin (dilates coronary vessels). You have been prescribed norvasc and that should relieve any chest pains. Norvasc is in a group of drugs called calcium channel blockers. It dilates blood vessels and slows the heart to reduce blood pressure and the pain of angina. Calcium channel blockers may be needed long term. Medications may also include beta-blockers. However, in some cases of spastic angina, beta-blockers may be harmful.
Avatar m tn I am in week 4 of the Olysio/Sovaldi combo therapy and am disappointed at the side effects I'm experiencing. Prior to starting the treatment I was very encouraged by what I was finding on the boards, especially after two bad experiences with interferon treatment and an allergic reaction to ribavirin. Unfortunately I am experiencing maddening itching which I'm controlling with Allegra and extreme fatigue and an all around foggy feeling.
Avatar f tn I was put onto calcium channel blockers and these worked. Unfortunately I suffered side effects and had to come off after 3 weeks, but the spasms have never returned. That was Sept 09.
Avatar n tn Since I live in Iowa (low of -24 degrees the other day), it was a side effects that really bothered me. Now I am on 240 mg of Diltiazem and no side effects but it is not controlling the rapid pulse rate very well. My husband, who has A-fib, saw a mention on one of the discussion boards he reads of Beta Blockers lowering the levels of Melatonin in some patients and causing sleep disturbances.
1260320 tn?1270394906 My 90 day average BP is 108/67 down from 135/85 when I started. I have had no side effects as well, the best of both worlds!
Avatar f tn Mother just started on Norvasc already on Tenormin. Now I've heard there is a problem with the two drugs together causing heart failure. Is that really happening? Please my mother will stop Norvasc unneccassarily if I can't find out the real information about this. She is limited on drug options so this is important. Thanks so very much.
Avatar f tn I was so happy to find out that there are message boards out there that I can use to connect with others who have afib. I saw a cardiologist for the first time two weeks ago. He put me on Pradaxa 150 mg 2X a day. Is there anyone on here who takes pradaxa/coumadin/other blood thinners who also has a family history of aneurysms? If so, did your doctor put you on a lower dose because of it? Aneurysms run in my family (father, grandmother, great-grandmother, cousin, uncle).
Avatar n tn m also taking Norvasc. Should these medications be taken together? The Norvasc was prescribed a number of years ago by a different doctor for Migraine prevention. It hasn't helped my migraines but I've continued to take it. Since they are both blood pressure meds, I'm doubtful I should take both.
672586 tn?1280933658 Make sure you see a dentist at least twice a year and make it known you are on ccb. Side effects can occur in some people where gums are affected, but in my case two of my molars crumbled.
404682 tn?1324579818 You should work with your doctor to find a drug that works for you. The one with the fewest side effects would be an ARB that works by keeping your arteries pliable so they can help absorb each heart beat and lower your BP and the stress on your heart. The bad part about ARBs is that they are expensive and not covered by all insurance plans without first trying all other possibilities.
