norvasc

Avatar f tn I am taking Amlodipine (Norvasc) 5mg and occasionally my legs and ankles (on both legs and never the leg itself) will swell to the point that my shoes will no longer fit, but the the swelling will go down for a while (a week, two weeks perhaps) until it happens again.
Avatar n tn I've been taking amlodipine besylate (norvasc) for about 1 and a half months. For the last couple of weeks I've been experiencing very strong anxieties, panic attacks, and a totally sleepless night. I'd been on testim for years now as well and wonder if either one or a combination can be causing them.
Avatar n tn m also taking Norvasc. Should these medications be taken together? The Norvasc was prescribed a number of years ago by a different doctor for Migraine prevention. It hasn't helped my migraines but I've continued to take it. Since they are both blood pressure meds, I'm doubtful I should take both.
Avatar f tn Had a large tumor and total thyroidectomy removed 3 weeks ago. The past few days having dull but strong headaches that go into my ear, down my jaw into my neck. I'm taking 100 mcg of Levothyroxine a day and 2 Calcitrol a day. My calcium was very low after surgery.
Avatar m tn There are 2 other medications that work well for angina that I would usually start prior to Ranexa which are Imdur (Isosorbide mononitrate) or Norvasc (Amlodipine) which can both help with angina and coronary vasospasm (spasm of the large and small vessels which give blood to the heart) which you may possible have.
Avatar n tn Does she take Cholesterol reducing medication? How about Norvasc (Amlodipine - Alpha-Channel Blocker)?
Avatar m tn m feeling even worse now, 5 weeks after the SSRI switch. Do you think that there is a possibility that amlodipine or montelukast may play a role in the recurrent / resistant depression ?
Avatar n tn Does the nitrate relieve the chest pain? The diagnosis of coronary artery spasm has taken on new significance because of the marketing in this country of a new class of drugs, such as nifedipine, called calcium channel blockers. These drugs have afforded dramatic relief in spasm-induced angina. Patients were treated with calcium channel blockers such as diltiazem, amlodipine, nifedipine, and benidipine.
1102792 tn?1285925260 was taking atenolol 100mg, amlodipine, captopril and moduretic daily for the hbp but have recently dropped off atenolol and amlodipine and resorted to a reduced salt diet, little or no alcohol and little or no smoking. I have noticed that pirton seems to help with the rapid sneezing and antacids seems to help with the smelly throat and sour taste in the mouth.
Avatar f tn Calcium channel blockers like Amlodipine (Norvasc). Concomitant use of Amlodipine and Viagra may cause lowering of blood pressure. Alpha blockers like doxazosin (Cardura®), prazosin (Minipress®), and terazosin (Hytrin®). Viagra when used in combination with alpha blockers may cause drop in blood pressure, light-headedness, dizziness, or fainting. Nitrates (nitrogen oxide donors) should not be taken with Viagra. Concomitant use of Viagra and nitrates may cause severe drop in blood pressure.
Avatar f tn Hi I've had a positive ANA ranging between 1:80 and 1:160. I have also been testing positive for U1-RNP range considered positive is 81 or higher I was reading at 114. Now all of the sudden my U1-RNP is considered normal at 60? I have not been on any medication this far except vitamin D 50,000 and amlodipine 10mgs 1 per day. I've been having severe muscle weakness. My dr. sent me to a vascular dr. To have a muscle biopsy done.
1704227 tn?1307475144 Since my discharge, I have taken at least 8 nitroglycerins to stop these spasms along with taking my new RX of Norvasc and Prednisone. August 4, 2010 I had double bypass surgery followed up by placement of my first 3 stints November 5, 2010. Everything was fine with my recovery for the past 7months until now-when the spasms started. My question is, Why won't these spasms stop, and what made the spasms begin in the first place?
Avatar m tn You could also try various calcium channel blockers such as Amlodipine (norvasc). Make sure to quit smoking and take care of your cholesterol. Start with a heathy diet and exercise and if that doesn't work start taking a statin.
Avatar m tn Two blood tests this year showed my enzyme levels as normal, but on both occasions, I had been off the alcohol for 2 or 3 weeks before each blood test. Like you, I also have a pain in my right side. A CT scan showed fatty infiltration of the liver, but it was otherwise normal. I can't say whether or not you have a problem, but how long had you been off the beer when you had this test? If you can lay off for a few months, get another test and compare them.
Avatar f tn It was decided to add Norvasc 5mg INSTEAD of Nifedipine, since Norvasc was used/tolerated well in the past. Began taking Norvasc 5mg along with Lorsartan 100mg and Atenolol 25mg (all 1x daily) approximately 3 days ago, and the blood pressure is still running extremely high. This morning reading was 186/85 and tonight 176/110!!! Worried that this can be dangerous. What should be done? How long until the BP goes to a "normal" range? Does the doctor need to increase the Norvasc dosage?
Avatar n tn I was on Norvasc but my Dr. changed to Cardizem, I have trouble swalloing and the Norvasc dissolved in my mouth quickly to make it easier to take, the Cardizem Er is a big capsule that is hard to take, should I ask my Dr to go back on Norvasc?? they both seem to work equally well....
Avatar n tn Is okay to take 2.5 mg of Norvasc, 120mg Cardizem and Topamax? This discussion is related to Discontinuation of Norvasc.
Avatar f tn Mother just started on Norvasc already on Tenormin. Now I've heard there is a problem with the two drugs together causing heart failure. Is that really happening? Please my mother will stop Norvasc unneccassarily if I can't find out the real information about this. She is limited on drug options so this is important. Thanks so very much.
Avatar n tn i am 54 yr old lady ,i have hypertention from many years for which taking medicine amlodipine basilate IP 50mg but from few weeks there was flactuation in my blood pressure sometimes it went on lower side and sometimes normal then i consulted my physician he reduced the dose to 25mg and ask me to eat things when you feel low,i did the same but 6-7 days back i measured my BP at home, it was on lower side and i to was feeling very dull and low so i had something to eat still had no relief and slow
Avatar m tn Your concern is valid in that being on both a calcium channel blocker and a beta blocker can have risks of reducing the heart rate too low or affecting other conducting regions of the heart. However, amlodipine is a dihydropyridine calcium-channel blocker whose primary effect is more peripherally acting rather (as compared to the non-dihydropyridine CCB, i.e. diltiazem or verapamil, which are more centrally acting).
Avatar n tn I was just prescribed amlodipine for my gastritis how ever I can't seem to find any info about it being helpful for that. All the info I have found is about blood pressure. Is this a common prescription? Should I be concerned if I already have low blood pressure?
Avatar f tn I have started taking Norvasc for Hypertension and am having side effects such as nausea, headache, and it seems to be causing some eye pain and pressure. My concern is that I had retinal detachment surgery in March of 2008 and have not had any pain until I started taking Norvasc 5mg. daily. Is this a side effect that is normal and will it subside or is it a reason to discontinue this drug?
Avatar f tn 1mg 2 x day. However, the Norvasc is not working after 12 hrs. My B/P is 150/113 12 hrs after taking the norvasc. Can I take a clonidine .1 mg along with the norvasc?
Avatar m tn What was your at home BP before 2010 (and norvasc)?

Avatar m tn I was on Losartan 50mg which was working fairly well then the nephrologist suggested I switch to Amlodipine 2.5 mg. which he says is better for creatinine levels. I had been taking Amlodipine for a few weeks and BP rose. Doctor has increased to 5 mg. Not sure how long it will take to reduce BP. Has anyone any experience with Amlodipine? How is it? Any adverse side effects?
