Norvasc for raynaud's disease

Common Questions and Answers about Norvasc for raynaud's disease

norvasc

Avatar f tn I was on Adallat C for 4 months with fairly good relief and at the end of 4 months and was then put on Norvasc. These were specifically for the cold hands and feet, not for high blood pressure, as mine has always been low (90/60). The Norvasc was tried for 30 days with no improvement. Nerve conduction studies ruled out nerve damage so arteriorgram of upper extremities was recommended.
237039 tn?1264258057 I have Raynaud's, whether you could say I have the disease or the syndrome, I don't know. Could there be a connection between this and the coronary artery spasms I have? I have been looking into some articles and I believe so. I know when my hands get a sudden chill they turn white and tingle. Almost numbing. When I get my hands to warm up then they trun bright red for a while and sort of burn while warming.
Avatar f tn I now take daily aspirin for the APS and Norvasc for the Raynauds and slightly elevated blood pressure. In your opinion, is there any reason I should seek another opinion, or should I just trust this diagnosis? (One more note: I sometimes have sinus tachycardia bpm around 100-105. I recently had a PSVT that lasted only 10 minutes. Went to ER and PSVT had ended and just had high bpm. Normal EKG and thyroid was 5.64 (normal high end was 5.
Avatar f tn Does anyone else have Raynaud's Disease? I was diagnosed 2 years ago with Raynaud's just had bloodwork done and my ANA titer was high but SED rate low and was told that sometimes the ANA can be high in people with Raynaud's. Does anyone know that to be the case or should I be concerned about my ANA?
Avatar f tn I have started taking Norvasc for Hypertension and am having side effects such as nausea, headache, and it seems to be causing some eye pain and pressure. My concern is that I had retinal detachment surgery in March of 2008 and have not had any pain until I started taking Norvasc 5mg. daily. Is this a side effect that is normal and will it subside or is it a reason to discontinue this drug?
Avatar n tn Isosrbide is a long acting type of nitrate for chest pain Plavix is a blood thinner Coreg is a beta blocker to lower blood pressure and help with the heart rate and rhythm Zantac is to help with heartburn Norvasc is a calcium channel blocker to help lower blood pressure and help with angina (I take this for heart spasms) Lotensin is also used to treat high blood pressure I hope this helps you some. How is your husband's cholesterol?
Avatar m tn There is no known connection, but many of us suffer with extremely cold fingers and toes as part of our MS, but don't have the Raynaud's symptoms of white, waxy digits. And as Bob points out many people have more than one disease gong on.
Avatar f tn Check out the documentary "Under Our Skin" which is about chronic Lyme disease. That's an eye opener! I have four autoimmune diseases and have a negative ANA btw. Hmmm :) I did find a study entitled - Syncope and Raynaud's disease. Syncope is the medical term for fainting. This does make sense that fainting could be a symptom of Raynaud's due to ischaemia (restriction in blood supply to tissues) in the brain.
Avatar f tn I know what you mean when a doctor blows you off...it happens to me all the time. If your toes and fingers turn dark red and purple, it could be a symptom of Raynaud's Disease, which is a problem with he blood vessels in your hands. I have this and I know how hard it is in the winter. If your hands hurt in the cold, and turn white then red if you do not wear heavy gloves (like I wear) then you could have Raynaud's.
4274823 tn?1388529098 Thank you for the info. The symptoms that may be Raynaud's phenomenon have lessened over time perhaps because both the hypothyroidism and tendinitis symptoms aren't as severe as they once were. I hope to get the thyroid bloodwork in early July at the latest through my conventional doctor so it's covered. I see my naturopathic doctor regularly and pay for that. She's provided holistic support for which I am thankful.
Avatar n tn m going to guess your doctor tested you for ANA which has high sensitivity for the disease. Do you have any idea what count you got? You should always get a copy of your lab tests so you can understand what they mean. If your doctor did not explain them well enough, you should ask him/her for more information. Here's the thing...
Avatar f tn My mother is diagnose with unstable angina a month a ago and the doctor asked us to monitor her blood pressure since she is discharged from the hospital her blood pressure is always normal but there are sometimes that her bp is 100/50 and last day her bp is 120/40 she is 71 years old and taking medications such as norvasc. lipitor, aspirin, imdur or ISMN and losartan. Please help me is it normal for her age? Thank you...
Avatar f tn Beau lines (horizontal ridges on the nails) is a sign of injury or a underlying disease affecting the growth of the nail plate. Beau's nails can be due to conditions such as severe illness, Raynaud's phenomenon, pemphigus, chemotherapy, high fever. You numb toes/purple nails indicates likely Raynaud's phenomenon. Raynaud's can be primary or secondary (caused by an underlying disease, condition, or other factor).

Avatar m tn I have been told that Raynaud's syndrome is a symptom of Multiple Sclerosis. I was diagnosed with Raynaud's Syndrome in 1988 and later diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2004. Could my diagnosis with Raynaud's in 1988 been the onset of Multiple Sclerosis since the symptoms for both diseases are the same. Is there any medical research to prove that Raynaud's could be a symptom of MS?
Avatar n tn Beta blockers like metoprolol and ACE inhibitors like benazepril have been been shown to be of value in patients with congestive heart failure as well as for hypertension. Simvastatin is of value for patients with both diabetes and heart disease. Talk to your doctor and changes can be made to minimize the side effects.
Avatar m tn I am a 16 male and have very weak / no orgasms (this includes when masturbating), however, i used to orgasm in the past. I was wondering if there is a way this can be sorted out and what the reason for it is. Note: I have recently been diagnosed with raynaud's phenomenon (circulation problems) and i was thinking that this may be the cause of the problems.
Avatar f tn Hello and hope you are doing well. With Raynaud's as such the arteries to the fingers and toes go into what's called vasospasm, which makes the vessels narrow temporarily to limit the blood supply. When it occurs without another disease present, it is called Raynaud's disease (or primary Raynaud's). And when it occurs as part of another disease, it is called Raynaud's phenomenon (or secondary Raynaud's). Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn Potential causes of cold fingers include Raynaud's disease, Buerger's disease, peripheral arterial disease, anemia, vitamin B12 deficiency, and hypothyroidism. If your symptoms persist, see your doctor for further workup and evaluation.
