at home its always 120 over 80 or 136 over 87 when i go to docs it shoots right up to 190 over 120 or higher BUT once i leave it goes back to normal. i also suffer from extreme anxiety does anxiety raise up blood pressure at all?

I went back to cardio dr the next day and now he wants me to take Benicar, Norvasc and a small dose of the beta blocker plus my anxiety meds...all this for someone who he says has a normal heart? I am so confused. Also, I got a copy of all my records because I am getting a second opinion....and it reads that there is a trace mitral regurgitation, mild tricuspid regurgitation and the right ventricular systolic pressure is mildly elevated at 32.

I just got out of the hospital after an episode of severe chest pains, dizziness, and pain down my arms and into my neck. I had a series of tests. several ekg's x-rays, an echo, a treadmill stress test, and an angio. the stress test was abnormal. the ekgs are showing PVC's, and the angio was normal. the cardiologist is thinking that it is the endothelials that are causing the pain. they put me o n 5 mg of norvasc, and zocor because they found my ldl's were 180.

I was on Norvasc but my Dr. changed to Cardizem, I have trouble swalloing and the Norvasc dissolved in my mouth quickly to make it easier to take, the Cardizem Er is a big capsule that is hard to take, should I ask my Dr to go back on Norvasc?? they both seem to work equally well....

Mother just started on Norvasc already on Tenormin. Now I've heard there is a problem with the two drugs together causing heart failure. Is that really happening? Please my mother will stop Norvasc unneccassarily if I can't find out the real information about this. She is limited on drug options so this is important. Thanks so very much.

I'm a 64 yrs. old woman who used to take Diovan 320 mg. & Toprol 50 mg. for my B.P. My B.P. readings was okay but my Doctor discontinued the Toprol because my heart rate usually on the 40's. I am currently taking Norvasc 5mg. with the Diovan 320 mg. So far, my B.P. readings is very good, 110/70. But eversince I started the Norvasc, my left leg is swelling and it is becoming worst. I'd like to ask my Doctor to discontinue the Norvasc.

Unfortunately I have no knowledge about the medicine you are talking about but there are a lot of forums on Medhelp to include anxiety as well some that may pertain to the reason you have to take the norvasc. Good luck and check back here perhaps someone has experience with this.

The doctors seem to chalk it all up to anxiety and push me out the door. I have been on Tenoretic 50 for at least 5 years now and my cardiologist told me to cut it in half because of my heart rate sometimes going into the 40s. My blood pressure increased as a result, so he added Norvasc 2.5mg which I am reluctant to take because of reading that in combination with a beta blocker it can cause heart failure. I also have slight LVH.

It was decided to add Norvasc 5mg INSTEAD of Nifedipine, since Norvasc was used/tolerated well in the past. Began taking Norvasc 5mg along with Lorsartan 100mg and Atenolol 25mg (all 1x daily) approximately 3 days ago, and the blood pressure is still running extremely high. This morning reading was 186/85 and tonight 176/110!!! Worried that this can be dangerous. What should be done? How long until the BP goes to a "normal" range? Several years ago my doctor said I could go off it as I was on Norvasc and Diovan. Based on a 24 BP monitor, it was discerned I did not need the Atenolol. I was able to cut my dose to 25mg. but cannot get off it. I become irritable, jittery and have a short fuse. Recently, became a vegan and my BP has dropped so I tried to d/c the atenolol once again. Will I ever be able to get off this med. my BP is 101/60 just on 5 mg. of Norvasc.

I've been taking amplodipine / norvasc 10 mg (antihypertensive) for about a year and a half now and montelukast / singulair 10 mg (leukotriene modifier) for shorter periods (2 months, march - may 2008 and 2 months this year, started in early may and still on it). Last month, after having been on fluoxetine / prozac for about 1 year, I showed some deterioration (more depressive symptoms, more anxiety / panic attacks).

I am also taking 10mg of Lexapro a day for anxiety. This caused me to become very fatigued and my doctor attributed it to the Coreg so he switched me to 10mg Norvasc every day (after weaning off the Coreg for 3 days). This was 2 weeks ago and I'm still feeling the same fatigue. How long does Coreg stay in your system after you stop taking it? I know that Lexapro can cause tiredness as well, but my doctor seemed to think otherwise.

Is there any other drug out there that will work the same way to open up small blood vessels like Norvasc but wont have the "bad swelling of legs and feet?" Anyone, please me know know, looking forward to hearing from you...

I have started taking Norvasc for Hypertension and am having side effects such as nausea, headache, and it seems to be causing some eye pain and pressure. My concern is that I had retinal detachment surgery in March of 2008 and have not had any pain until I started taking Norvasc 5mg. daily. Is this a side effect that is normal and will it subside or is it a reason to discontinue this drug?

Can this be artificially high because of medications taken for other problems i.e. high blood pressure (5mg Norvasc, 12.5mg Hydrochlorothiazide, .1mg clonodine 2x daily), hormone replacement (premarin 1.25), anit-depressant (150xl Wellbutrin), sleep-aid (Ambien) and Prevacid?

ll go along fine and then wham my blood pressure will spike out of nowhere to 170/102 so my dr decided to start me on meds. I started taking norvasc 2.5 mgs at night because my BP is really high when I wake up. After being on it for 5 days I ended up in the ER with dizziness and another sudden BP spike. ER sent me home told me to take a norvasc when I got home then to start taking it in the AM. Next morning I felt awful so my GP told me stop norvasc and started me on clonidine.

For 3yrs I had controlled HT w/Lisin/HCTZ 20/25 & Norvasc 5mg. I was a very healthy 44yo Fe, 4'10 110lbs. In Jan 07 my ins co said they wanted me to switch from Norvasc to Lotrel because they were "the same". My Dr kept me on the Lisin/HCTZ & added Lotrel 5/40. 12 days later I collapsed. At the ER my BP was 56/48, I was discharged 3 hrs later at 80/54. Things haven't been the same since.

I suffered with angina for several years. Recently, I had angina that would wake me out of a dead sleep. It was diagnosed as vasospasms. I was put on Norvasc a month ago. I haven't has any angina, stable or variant. Norvasc works great for me. I have some swelling and slight dizziness with the Novasc, but the benefits far out weigh the side effects.

I'm a 21 year old female and recently I have been having what feels like my heart jumping almost. It happens almost daily most often when I'm at work. I have been suffering from fatigue for a while now and have had migraines all my life but they seem to be more frequent. I also have very bad anxiety which just started this year that I've never had before. I've also had a cough which for a while was in my chest and now is almost just an irritated feeling in my throat sometimes.

I never took another one and told my doctor that I wanted to go back and try the Norvasc. The Norvasc did begin to help after a couple of weeks, adn the spasms started to get less severe and less in occurrences. I wonder if I should have given the Cardizem more time or just be happy with the way the Norvasc is working?

Why is it that when I am off of work for more than a couple of days just doing things around my house my anxiety seems worse. I have a grown child and it is just my husband and myself. I never seemed relaxed at home. My husband is at work and I am home alone so what causes this anxiety. I take 25 mg of zoloft and 2.5 mg norvasc for hbp and .5 xanax at night for sleep. Any insights into this problem.
