I take 5mg Norvasc with 100 mg of a beta blocker(Lopressor) and Isosorbide (Nitrate) and Tricor every morning without any problems. But I am confused as to why Norvasc and Cardizem. They are both calcium channel blockers. Maybe someone can enlighten me on that. Have you talked to your pharmacist about any concerns?
9 170 but my blood pressure is always fine at home i do suffer from anxiety but it goes thru the roof when i see a doctor or go to the ER i am 27 years old, i have to see a doc once a week for another condition, but it never fails my pulse and BP rises very high in doctors settings, once i come home both my pulse and pressure is fine again , my worry and problem is how much damage is being done to my heart when my blood pressure spikes like this once a week?
another thought it would be a good idea to reduce the tenormin to 50 mg and take 5 mg of Norvasc; and the third, suggested to gradually replace the tenormin by 5 mg Norvasc, and to be increased if needed, to 10 mg.
Having read so much about Hypertension and its medications, I'm inclined towards the second opinion, i.e. 50 mg tenormin in combination with 5 mg Norvasc. However, I don't have a problem with the first opinion. My problem is with the third; I prefer to keep taking Tenormin.
it was discovered 10 weeks ago that i had a aneurysm on my ascending aorta 6.4 with a bicuspid aorta vavle. i had surgery 7 weeks ago st jude aorta valve dacron graft for ascending aorta. Four days after surgery i need a pacemaker due to the surgery. My question is there any long term risk or dangers of this that i should look out for. I take amiodarone (200mg) for a-fib that i developed after pacemaker surgery and celexa 20mg, zocor 20 mg. norvasc 5mg. coumadin 7.5mg m & w 5 mg.

In short, anything is possible and many meds mixing together certainly make it harder to know what is doing what.

I claim no knowledge except of what site to look at for this info. Much of it I wouldn't follow either but it will hopefully mean something to you.
he also pointed out the purple spots on my shins and feet and said the spots might be Leukocytoclastic vasculitis. the spots range in size from a few mm to about 20 mm. prior to treatment i did not have these purple spots. the hep doc suggested i go back to the derm and have one of the spots biopsied, which i did. we are awaiting the pathology report.
has anyone else developed vasculitis during treatment?
were you prescribed oral steroids or other drugs for the vasculitis?
I have started taking Norvasc for Hypertension and am having side effects such as nausea, headache, and it seems to be causing some eye pain and pressure. My concern is that I had retinal detachment surgery in March of 2008 and have not had any pain until I started taking Norvasc 5mg. daily. Is this a side effect that is normal and will it subside or is it a reason to discontinue this drug?
There are many reasons for leukocytoclastic vasculitis. If you are in a flare and developing ulcers, a punch biopsy with an immunofluorescent test will often determine what is causing this. In my case, it was cutaneous polyarteritis nodosa. Prednisone would control the flare as long as it was in my system, but as soon as it was out, another flare would begin. My disease has been primarily hereditary (50% of my family has had autoimmune disease of some type) and stress.
i have blood pressure 116 over 72 angiogram shows no problem with cholesterol 2.5 on test. i have been given norvasc and lipitol ?
I was informed that the small biopsy of the dark freckle on my forearm has come back as vasculitis. About a week prior to having this removed I had severe joint pain in every joint in my body and had a series of blodd tests done to test for lyme disease, rocky mt spotted fever, CMP, iron etc... The only thing that came back abnormal on my blood work was my AST/ALT because I have fatty liver disease (my numbers were 89 and 44 to be exact). As quickly as the pain came, it went away in 4 days.
If it is truly Vasculitis it can be a serious condition and is not cured by showers or baths of any sort. You need to find the right doctor to diagnose the cause of the vasculitis. If you have hep c this may be an indication that you have cryoglobulinemia. Typically the vasculitis outbreaks come and go but this does not mean the underlying disease if there is one is gone.
Still hoping to talk to someone who has Wegeners Granulomatosis, Polyarteritis Nodosa or Necrotizing Vasculitis. I would like to discuss symptoms, testing, and diagnosis. thankyou!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The pain is relieved by a medicine called nitroglycerin (dilates coronary vessels). You have been prescribed norvasc and that should relieve any chest pains. Norvasc is in a group of drugs called calcium channel blockers. It dilates blood vessels and slows the heart to reduce blood pressure and the pain of angina. Calcium channel blockers may be needed long term. Medications may also include beta-blockers. However, in some cases of spastic angina, beta-blockers may be harmful.
I asked him if there was a medication that is commonly combined with Atenolol, and he suggested the generic for Norvasc, 5mg.
So I've been taking 5mg on top of my Atenolol for about a week, and I've actually noticed that my blood pressure has been a bit more elevated, not to mention I feel a bit crappy in general and anxious. I'm not sure if this is my body attempting to balance itself with the Norvasc but I never thought that it would make my blood pressure worse.
