Avatar f tn I am taking Amlodipine (Norvasc) 5mg and occasionally my legs and ankles (on both legs and never the leg itself) will swell to the point that my shoes will no longer fit, but the the swelling will go down for a while (a week, two weeks perhaps) until it happens again.
1243333 tn?1296446902 I have extensive CAD with mutiplable stent placement in the past 22 months, and have high blood pressure (Usally 180/110 And higher), what effect does the high blood pressure have on CAD and angina. I am on bp meds. (norvasc, imdur, toprol XL, spirolactone, valturna, cattapress tts, iron, dexilant & carfate).
Avatar n tn Any way thats not what im writing about. I was on Toprol XL for years and the generic (metropolol) came out and they swithed me over to the Metoropolol and I started having breathing and respiratory problems.. My family doc called it bronchittis.. well it got so bad, I made an appointment with a lung doc.. but then I got to thinking.. and figured it all started when they put me on the dang Metropolol ..
Avatar m tn I had been doing this for 3 months prior. I have lost 50 lbs since Jan. and I was taken off Norvasc because my BP was low and was causing fatigue problems, and problems with GERD. Now when I go and ride the bike my heart rate goes up slowly to 140 BPM but when I quit my heart rate stays at about 100-112 most of the day. I feel no other problems (lightheaded, or pain in my chest for E.G.). I do take hydrochlorthizide for BP but my BP is 119/70.
343006 tn?1314446471 I was slowly weened off Toprol xl and Diovan - about 8 months ago - and put on ccb -verapamil and dieretic maxzide iv been on them for about 4 months - and have been having problems, such as ankles swelling. and closeing throat when eatting! as well bloating belly conditions. over the past month iv noticed my face is always red in color. and my left eye has been twitching off and on.. I seem to dehydrate rapid and cant hydrate fast enough - even when I cutt down on the dieretic med.
2095551 tn?1333122531 Is there any other drug out there that will work the same way to open up small blood vessels like Norvasc but wont have the "bad swelling of legs and feet?" Anyone, please me know know, looking forward to hearing from you...
1243333 tn?1296446902 ( My Bp at home runs around 190/145 plus) I take valturna 300/325mg, coreg 25mg, spironolactone 100mg, hydralazine 100mg, norvasc 10mg, imdur 120mg, clonidine 0.3mg, plavix, aspirin, carafate and dexilant, and a anti nausea med. some of which I take several times a day, some how I feel that my bp is reacting negatively to all the meds.
Avatar n tn I take 5mg Norvasc with 100 mg of a beta blocker(Lopressor) and Isosorbide (Nitrate) and Tricor every morning without any problems. But I am confused as to why Norvasc and Cardizem. They are both calcium channel blockers. Maybe someone can enlighten me on that. Have you talked to your pharmacist about any concerns?
572651 tn?1530999357 then tonight I went to take my medicine for my angina and a light went off in my brain --- I started a new drug, Norvasc (a calcium channel blocker) for my angina in mid-June. This just so happens to coincide with when my bladder took charge. Could there be a connection? I sure think so from what I have found on the web. Several sites list incontinence as a primary side effect of Norvasc for women. These sites though are more anecdotal and not fact based.
Avatar m tn 9 170 but my blood pressure is always fine at home i do suffer from anxiety but it goes thru the roof when i see a doctor or go to the ER i am 27 years old, i have to see a doc once a week for another condition, but it never fails my pulse and BP rises very high in doctors settings, once i come home both my pulse and pressure is fine again , my worry and problem is how much damage is being done to my heart when my blood pressure spikes like this once a week?
Avatar n tn I was on Norvasc but my Dr. changed to Cardizem, I have trouble swalloing and the Norvasc dissolved in my mouth quickly to make it easier to take, the Cardizem Er is a big capsule that is hard to take, should I ask my Dr to go back on Norvasc?? they both seem to work equally well....
Avatar f tn I am taking synthroid and cytomel and no other meds. My GP wanted me to take a toprol xl 25 but I am very eager to avoid. I made an appointment with a cardiologist but that will take 4 months. Any advice on how to avoid and to know when it's time to just take the pill?
Avatar f tn another thought it would be a good idea to reduce the tenormin to 50 mg and take 5 mg of Norvasc; and the third, suggested to gradually replace the tenormin by 5 mg Norvasc, and to be increased if needed, to 10 mg. Having read so much about Hypertension and its medications, I'm inclined towards the second opinion, i.e. 50 mg tenormin in combination with 5 mg Norvasc. However, I don't have a problem with the first opinion. My problem is with the third; I prefer to keep taking Tenormin.
1243333 tn?1296446902 Please excuse my ignorance, coronary artery spasms are cause by lesions? and what type? And yes I am taking norvasc and Imdur. Which don't seem to control the chest pains which seem to always happen when I try to rest especially at late night they do occur at other times also at rest and forget any activity. Are there any other treatments available. Thank You so much for your time.
Avatar n tn it was discovered 10 weeks ago that i had a aneurysm on my ascending aorta 6.4 with a bicuspid aorta vavle. i had surgery 7 weeks ago st jude aorta valve dacron graft for ascending aorta. Four days after surgery i need a pacemaker due to the surgery. My question is there any long term risk or dangers of this that i should look out for. I take amiodarone (200mg) for a-fib that i developed after pacemaker surgery and celexa 20mg, zocor 20 mg. norvasc 5mg. coumadin 7.5mg m & w 5 mg.
Avatar m tn Hi Nick, In short, anything is possible and many meds mixing together certainly make it harder to know what is doing what. Norvasc appears to be for blood pressure normally and a list of drug interactions can be found here : http://www.rxlist.com/norvasc-drug.htm. I claim no knowledge except of what site to look at for this info. Much of it I wouldn't follow either but it will hopefully mean something to you.
Avatar f tn All this HTN began as soon as the Norvasc and Metroprolol were discontinued and the Lorsartan 100mg and Atenolol 25mg were begun...now to only have the Norvasc added back but at 5mg versus 10mg! Can the HTN be dangerous for the new liver? Very worried. Thank you!
Avatar f tn 1mg 2 x day. However, the Norvasc is not working after 12 hrs. My B/P is 150/113 12 hrs after taking the norvasc. Can I take a clonidine .1 mg along with the norvasc?
Avatar n tn I, too, take Toprol XL as well as meds for depression and anxiety and have just learned about these problems with it.
Avatar f tn Edema is a common side effect of the Norvasc and a low dose thiazide diuretic will take care of the swelling and also help the BP.
Avatar f tn My doctor is new to me due to a re-location. I am unclear why she stopped Verapamil and started Norvasc, other than she said she has better results with Norvasc. Question: do I need to be concerned about my resting HR @ this time? It makes me rather anxious. I have heard horror stories about coming off of beta-blockers.
Avatar f tn I have started taking Norvasc for Hypertension and am having side effects such as nausea, headache, and it seems to be causing some eye pain and pressure. My concern is that I had retinal detachment surgery in March of 2008 and have not had any pain until I started taking Norvasc 5mg. daily. Is this a side effect that is normal and will it subside or is it a reason to discontinue this drug?
Avatar f tn I went for a consult with a cardiologist a few weeks ago for tachcardia issues not controlled by my Norvasc or Toprol. Had an EKG, Echo, and 24 hr. Holter monitor. I was totally caught off guard when he said my Echo showed a small mass (0.6 x 1.3 cm) inside my right atrium (from what I have read, it sounds like this is extremely rare). I am scheduled in 2 days for a cardiac MRI to confirm the diagnosis.
