Norvasc and swelling of ankles

Common Questions and Answers about Norvasc and swelling of ankles

norvasc

Avatar f tn I am taking Amlodipine (Norvasc) 5mg and occasionally my legs and ankles (on both legs and never the leg itself) will swell to the point that my shoes will no longer fit, but the the swelling will go down for a while (a week, two weeks perhaps) until it happens again.
Avatar f tn Edema is a common side effect of the Norvasc and a low dose thiazide diuretic will take care of the swelling and also help the BP.
2095551 tn?1333122531 Is there any other drug out there that will work the same way to open up small blood vessels like Norvasc but wont have the "bad swelling of legs and feet?" Anyone, please me know know, looking forward to hearing from you...
483733 tn?1326798446 Have any of you suffered from swelling in your arms and legs but especially in the wrists, hands, ankles and feet (outside of the already very swollen abdomen)? I can actually feel them swelling up and they get oh so uncomfortable. I've not read that this is associated with cysts and fibroids but find it odd that this is happening now.
Avatar m tn What would cause sudden swelling of feet and ankles? I mowed with a riding lawnmower this afternoon and immediately afterward noticed that feet and ankles were approx a 1/3 larger. Thought it was an allergy took benedryl and a nap no change in condition.
Avatar m tn It depends. Swelling of the ankles is often indicative of a heart problem of some type, but it's not in every case. Your ankles swell because your body is retaining excess fluids.
Avatar n tn I take 5mg Norvasc with 100 mg of a beta blocker(Lopressor) and Isosorbide (Nitrate) and Tricor every morning without any problems. But I am confused as to why Norvasc and Cardizem. They are both calcium channel blockers. Maybe someone can enlighten me on that. Have you talked to your pharmacist about any concerns?
Avatar n tn i have blood pressure 116 over 72 angiogram shows no problem with cholesterol 2.5 on test. i have been given norvasc and lipitol ?
Avatar f tn My mother died of Congestive Heart Failure but I could tell most of the time when she was going into heart failure because her feet and ankles would swell and I would push the tissue on the foot and ankle and it would go in and not pop up it would remain indented where I pushed. I was told by the nurses that that was Edema(Ihope my spelling is correct) and I should rush her to the hospital so they could get the fluid off of her heart.
Avatar n tn The brown discoloration is caused by the swelling. I looked it up and swelling of the ankle area was the most prevalent side effect for amlodipine. Thirteen percent of users experienced swelling. So the doc was right. I got off amlodipine 2 months ago and have not had an episode of swelling since. It may take years for the brown to totally fade.
Avatar n tn I would like to say something: I have all of the classic symptoms of CHF, swollen ankles and feet to the point, I can't wear my shoes at times, SOB, cough etc. I have been checked out by a good cardiologist who did a complete work-up on me. I have a history of SVT (no longer treated) which could easily put me into CHF. I do NOT have CHF. So just because a patient has the symptoms of CHF, does not mean that they have the disease.
Avatar f tn I had the swelling of the feet and ankles when I was Hypo on anti-thyroid meds (before I had RAI). Sometimes the swelling was so bad, it flet like my ankles were going to split open. I later found out I was Hypo and that I had fluid retention. I found taking a celery capsule 3 times a day got rid of the fluid. Yes I was on the toilet a lot but the swelling also subsided too. Maybe you need an increase in Synthroid...your labs will show if you do when you go to the Endo.
Avatar f tn I was just wondering because I haven't seen any posts about it...are any of you getting a lot of swelling in your feet/ankles? Mine are awful! I'm a teacher and do stand most of the day but I was wondering if anyone else was having issues.
Avatar f tn Woke up at 4 this morning and my ankles were swelled and I went back to sleep after fixing hubbys lunch for work and I woke up at 9 and they are still swelled. I have never had swelling my whole pregnancy. Is this normal to just wake up with it?
Avatar f tn I know some swelling is normal, but how do I know If its excessive? My feet and ankles are sooooo swollen they look like balloons.....even my hands a little.....Im 34 weeks....I have a dr appt next week so I will ask, but just curious now....
Avatar f tn Mine were extremely swollen on monday.
Avatar f tn They hurt more when swollen and Im in school so I walk around a lot. I know swelling occurs and is normal but when I look at my feet I cant believe theyre mine, lol.
Avatar f tn Yeah ive been swelling super bad in the feet and ankles and for a while and all i hear is its normal. I swell like so crazy. Then i found out i had protein in my urine apparently for 3 weeks. Both are signs of preeclampsia but without the blood pressure, the feet swelling is normal. Last week my blood pressure was high with all those symptoms so they finally got worried and sent me for bloodwork. That came back normal so with all the symptoms, they still say i am good. Im almost 39 weeks.
Avatar f tn You might want to try cutting down on salty foods and drinks, anything high in sodium really and increase your water intake. But my feet and ankles were so bad with my first, it was like memory foam and nothing helped. Good luck, I hope it gets better.
Avatar f tn Anyone else have swelling in your feet and ankles at the end of the day? Mine even get bee sting like pains when I walk on them. Any ideas on how to relieve this?
3054444 tn?1353976571 Yeah but my mom thinks I might be allergic to them like she is.
2014222 tn?1328198436 I was beginning to be concerned when I read an article about heart failure, because I already have issues with my heart (an artificial Tricuspid valve and pace maker). I called my cardiologist and told him of the swelling issues I was having with my feet and ankles 2 weeks ago and told him I was concerned about heart failure.
10882379 tn?1435465934 I'm 20weeks 4days and my hands and ankles have swelled up alot I also get pins and needles in my hands every night it's annoying and sore and I also thought this wouldn'thhappen till a lot later on in my pregnancy.
Avatar f tn s basically fluid build-up in body tissue, oftentimes in the ankles and legs. My husband has cirrhosis, and his doc checks his ankles and legs every visit to check for swelling. It's important that your doc be made aware of this development -- if you have not seen your doc in the lasts 2 months while this has been going on, I would recommend that you let his office know and not wait until the visit to discuss this development -- he is a hepatologist, right? If not, you need to get one!
