Avatar n tn I take 5mg Norvasc with 100 mg of a beta blocker(Lopressor) and Isosorbide (Nitrate) and Tricor every morning without any problems. But I am confused as to why Norvasc and Cardizem. They are both calcium channel blockers. Maybe someone can enlighten me on that. Have you talked to your pharmacist about any concerns?
Avatar m tn What exactly are the abnormal lab values that have lead to the diagnosis of MGUS and Proteinuria? Lab indicators of too much protein in blood and urine? If I am understanding correctly, they have no symptoms (other than possible tingling/numbness with MGUS), are not generally serious conditions, and are found quite secondarily of other lab tests. When you say, "...have felt like everyone else", do you mean muscle/bone pain, fatigue, and never feeling well again?
Avatar m tn I live a healthy lifestyle (regular exercise, healthy diet). One year ago it was discovered that I had proteinuria. I had proteinuria on 2 subsequent tests and on my 24 urinalysis. My GP consulted a nephrologist and was told to monitor bloodwork, urine and BP every 4 months for a year, then every 6 months and then yearly afterwards. Most recently, when I had my tests done and my eGFR is now 84, creatinine (urine) = 26.8 and ACR = 59.7.
572651 tn?1530999357 then tonight I went to take my medicine for my angina and a light went off in my brain --- I started a new drug, Norvasc (a calcium channel blocker) for my angina in mid-June. This just so happens to coincide with when my bladder took charge. Could there be a connection? I sure think so from what I have found on the web. Several sites list incontinence as a primary side effect of Norvasc for women. These sites though are more anecdotal and not fact based.
Avatar m tn 9 170 but my blood pressure is always fine at home i do suffer from anxiety but it goes thru the roof when i see a doctor or go to the ER i am 27 years old, i have to see a doc once a week for another condition, but it never fails my pulse and BP rises very high in doctors settings, once i come home both my pulse and pressure is fine again , my worry and problem is how much damage is being done to my heart when my blood pressure spikes like this once a week?
Avatar m tn Additional diagnostic tests such as glomerular filtration rate, renal ultrasound, and possible intravenous urography and serological screening for autoantibodies and complement level. Hope this helps. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn I was on Norvasc but my Dr. changed to Cardizem, I have trouble swalloing and the Norvasc dissolved in my mouth quickly to make it easier to take, the Cardizem Er is a big capsule that is hard to take, should I ask my Dr to go back on Norvasc?? they both seem to work equally well....
Avatar f tn another thought it would be a good idea to reduce the tenormin to 50 mg and take 5 mg of Norvasc; and the third, suggested to gradually replace the tenormin by 5 mg Norvasc, and to be increased if needed, to 10 mg. Having read so much about Hypertension and its medications, I'm inclined towards the second opinion, i.e. 50 mg tenormin in combination with 5 mg Norvasc. However, I don't have a problem with the first opinion. My problem is with the third; I prefer to keep taking Tenormin.
Avatar n tn he said i should consult specialist but when i told him that i had an open surgery for appendicitis he said this might be the reason and i should wait 1 month more and do urine analysis again if again positive consult specialist afterwords. My question is presence of protien in urine is due to surgery or not and should i consult my surgeon or specialist immediately.
Avatar f tn I am taking Amlodipine (Norvasc) 5mg and occasionally my legs and ankles (on both legs and never the leg itself) will swell to the point that my shoes will no longer fit, but the the swelling will go down for a while (a week, two weeks perhaps) until it happens again.

Avatar m tn Hi Nick, In short, anything is possible and many meds mixing together certainly make it harder to know what is doing what. Norvasc appears to be for blood pressure normally and a list of drug interactions can be found here : http://www.rxlist.com/norvasc-drug.htm. I claim no knowledge except of what site to look at for this info. Much of it I wouldn't follow either but it will hopefully mean something to you.
Avatar f tn All this HTN began as soon as the Norvasc and Metroprolol were discontinued and the Lorsartan 100mg and Atenolol 25mg were begun...now to only have the Norvasc added back but at 5mg versus 10mg! Can the HTN be dangerous for the new liver? Very worried. Thank you!
4503521 tn?1400858886   Your midwife will add your proteinuria levels to your maternity notes. The lowest is marked as a trace level, and anything higher is marked as one or more pluses. Ask your midwife to explain the result if you're not sure what it means for you. Depending on the proteinuria levels, your midwife may bring forward your next antenatal appointment. She'll check again to see if there's still protein present, and whether the amount has increased.
Avatar f tn As long as one of the barriers is impaired or damaged, protein will leak into urine and thus form proteinuria. For people with Nephrotic Syndrome, large amounts of protein spill and into urine just because of damaged glomerular filtration membrane. Without effective charge barrier and mechanical barrier, glomerular filtration membrane can not stop protein passing through.
Avatar n tn Also, I have been diagnosed with high blood pressure. I am currently taking levodopa and adalat xl and my blood pressure is controlled with restricted activity (140's/80's). However, when I walk short distances ie: bathrrom or kicthen my blood pressure shuts up to 160's/90's and above. What should be my next step medically? I am being monitored weekly for my platlet levels and liver enzymes, I guess when those go abnormal I would be delivering my baby.
Avatar f tn Is lupron depot birth control 3months shot 3.75mg causes proteinuria. Please advice I m 37yrs old and got left ovary n both fallopian tubes removed as per my gynecologist toke lupron depot 3.
Avatar m tn Hi there, I have always had bubbles in my urine, at least for the last 8 years. Recently I went to the doctor for a urinalysis because I read about the correlation between kidney disease and proteinuria. I'm unsure as to whether my bubbles are caused by protein. My test results indicated that no proteins were present in my urine specimen. My creatinine serum is 1.0. My GFR is 97.6 ml/min/1.73 msg. I'm wondering- will my GFR hold steady in the 90's?
Avatar f tn 1mg 2 x day. However, the Norvasc is not working after 12 hrs. My B/P is 150/113 12 hrs after taking the norvasc. Can I take a clonidine .1 mg along with the norvasc?
Avatar n tn Proteinuria caused by eating too much protein in your diet is, of course, temporary, and the proteinuria should diminish as you reduce the amount of protein you are consuming. Hope this helps. I would try cutting back your protein first and then consult a physician if it doesn't get any better.
Avatar f tn Edema is a common side effect of the Norvasc and a low dose thiazide diuretic will take care of the swelling and also help the BP.
Avatar f tn I have started taking Norvasc for Hypertension and am having side effects such as nausea, headache, and it seems to be causing some eye pain and pressure. My concern is that I had retinal detachment surgery in March of 2008 and have not had any pain until I started taking Norvasc 5mg. daily. Is this a side effect that is normal and will it subside or is it a reason to discontinue this drug?
Avatar f tn His blood and urine was tested and came back normal apart from slight proteinuria and elevated ESR.
Avatar n tn Excess protein in the urine is called as proteinuria and usually it is albumin that is lost through urine. Some protein is normal in the urine. A 24 hour estimation of protein loss in urine would be optimal to estimate the level of proteinuria. Conditions which can cause proteinuria are nephrotic syndrome, glomerulonephritis, dehydration, collagen vascular diseases, strenuous exercises, diabetes mellitus, infections, multiple myeloma etc.
