2095551 tn?1333122531 Is there any other drug out there that will work the same way to open up small blood vessels like Norvasc but wont have the "bad swelling of legs and feet?" Anyone, please me know know, looking forward to hearing from you...
Avatar f tn I am 25 weeks, I take 90 mg of Procardia XL daily. Two weeks ago my bp was 110/70 and the last couple of days I have had headaches off and on. Today my bp was 99/59. Should I take my evening dose of Procardia XL or hold the dose until I can talk with my obgyn?
Avatar n tn I take 5mg Norvasc with 100 mg of a beta blocker(Lopressor) and Isosorbide (Nitrate) and Tricor every morning without any problems. But I am confused as to why Norvasc and Cardizem. They are both calcium channel blockers. Maybe someone can enlighten me on that. Have you talked to your pharmacist about any concerns?
572651 tn?1530999357 then tonight I went to take my medicine for my angina and a light went off in my brain --- I started a new drug, Norvasc (a calcium channel blocker) for my angina in mid-June. This just so happens to coincide with when my bladder took charge. Could there be a connection? I sure think so from what I have found on the web. Several sites list incontinence as a primary side effect of Norvasc for women. These sites though are more anecdotal and not fact based.
Avatar m tn 9 170 but my blood pressure is always fine at home i do suffer from anxiety but it goes thru the roof when i see a doctor or go to the ER i am 27 years old, i have to see a doc once a week for another condition, but it never fails my pulse and BP rises very high in doctors settings, once i come home both my pulse and pressure is fine again , my worry and problem is how much damage is being done to my heart when my blood pressure spikes like this once a week?
Avatar n tn I was on Norvasc but my Dr. changed to Cardizem, I have trouble swalloing and the Norvasc dissolved in my mouth quickly to make it easier to take, the Cardizem Er is a big capsule that is hard to take, should I ask my Dr to go back on Norvasc?? they both seem to work equally well....
1019167 tn?1315588348 my hands, feet, and legs all were numb and shaking, chest was pounding, and i was really hot and whoozy feeling, and my blood sugar was 80!! i called my doctor and he said it was prolly just an anxiety attack... wtf???? i was sitting at work typing away what would i be anxious about?? and as far as the contractions they havnt completely gone away... i still get them just not as bad and i get charlie horses in my calfs both at the same time every nite at least 3 or 4 times!!
Avatar f tn The drs say that the twins and I are looking good and stable now that I am on procardia, but i have a shortened cervix and am still contracting a little, dialated to 1cm, and had signs of a slight uti. I am on steroids to help the babies brains and lungs develop, an antibiotic, and a med to slow any signs of early labor.
Avatar f tn I was taking procardia for contractons every 6 hours but for some reason Walgreens didnt have procardia this time so they had to give me another med called nifedical, apparently it does the same thing, the only problem is i am suppose to take them once a day, my last procardia pill is for 8pm tonight so my question is should i take the nifedical now, should i take it at 2am which is when i would have took my next procardia pill or would it be ok to take it tomorrow morning?
Avatar f tn another thought it would be a good idea to reduce the tenormin to 50 mg and take 5 mg of Norvasc; and the third, suggested to gradually replace the tenormin by 5 mg Norvasc, and to be increased if needed, to 10 mg. Having read so much about Hypertension and its medications, I'm inclined towards the second opinion, i.e. 50 mg tenormin in combination with 5 mg Norvasc. However, I don't have a problem with the first opinion. My problem is with the third; I prefer to keep taking Tenormin.
Avatar f tn Any side effects? I am 32/5 and have been taking it for a week..I feel awful, exhausted, etc. And getting a nasty mint taste when I take the pill..
Avatar f tn I have to take it every six hours and I already hate how I feel on it. At first I felt so relaxed I could hardly keep my eyes open, and now I have an awful headach. I have to keep this baby in for at least 6 more weeks. I feel like this is going to be a long 6weeks for me and my family.
Avatar f tn Oh I was on that but i stopped taking it. It made me shake and feel like I was having a panic attack. So I quit and I haven't gone into labor and its been a week.
Avatar f tn I am taking Amlodipine (Norvasc) 5mg and occasionally my legs and ankles (on both legs and never the leg itself) will swell to the point that my shoes will no longer fit, but the the swelling will go down for a while (a week, two weeks perhaps) until it happens again.
Avatar n tn it was discovered 10 weeks ago that i had a aneurysm on my ascending aorta 6.4 with a bicuspid aorta vavle. i had surgery 7 weeks ago st jude aorta valve dacron graft for ascending aorta. Four days after surgery i need a pacemaker due to the surgery. My question is there any long term risk or dangers of this that i should look out for. I take amiodarone (200mg) for a-fib that i developed after pacemaker surgery and celexa 20mg, zocor 20 mg. norvasc 5mg. coumadin 7.5mg m & w 5 mg.
Avatar m tn Hi Nick, In short, anything is possible and many meds mixing together certainly make it harder to know what is doing what. Norvasc appears to be for blood pressure normally and a list of drug interactions can be found here : http://www.rxlist.com/norvasc-drug.htm. I claim no knowledge except of what site to look at for this info. Much of it I wouldn't follow either but it will hopefully mean something to you.
Avatar f tn All this HTN began as soon as the Norvasc and Metroprolol were discontinued and the Lorsartan 100mg and Atenolol 25mg were begun...now to only have the Norvasc added back but at 5mg versus 10mg! Can the HTN be dangerous for the new liver? Very worried. Thank you!
Avatar f tn 1mg 2 x day. However, the Norvasc is not working after 12 hrs. My B/P is 150/113 12 hrs after taking the norvasc. Can I take a clonidine .1 mg along with the norvasc?
Avatar f tn Edema is a common side effect of the Norvasc and a low dose thiazide diuretic will take care of the swelling and also help the BP.
292932 tn?1209305580 Just curious if anyone else is on Procardia for contractions and if you are experiencing any side effects. Avatar f tn At 30 wks pregnant i was sent to the hospital because while having sex i began to bleed badly, by the time i got to the hospital i was contracting a bunch but didnt relize it and i was dilated to a 4 with my cervix effaced 60-70% after a long night of drugs being pumped into me and procardia every 4-6 hours they where able to calm things down, after a week of the lovely hospital stay they sent me home, on stricked bedrest of course and i was told to take the procardia every 6 hours for contracti
Avatar f tn I have started taking Norvasc for Hypertension and am having side effects such as nausea, headache, and it seems to be causing some eye pain and pressure. My concern is that I had retinal detachment surgery in March of 2008 and have not had any pain until I started taking Norvasc 5mg. daily. Is this a side effect that is normal and will it subside or is it a reason to discontinue this drug?
Avatar m tn 2mg 2/day, zocor 40mg, and anxiety meds (imagine that). two weeks ago, my cardiologist added procardia 30mg/as needed for controlling bp in midafternoon. i spend too much time with meds . is there anything i'm missing? i feel like my heart is strong and still have a lot to do in life. i know it's going to be a bumpy ride...but does it level off?
Avatar f tn I was put on bed rest a week ago I'm 20 weeks. How many weeks are you and why are u on bed rest?
Avatar f tn Thanks ! Last week I was in the hospital in labor and they gave me a got to stop my contractions and it didn't work . they gave me 2 10mg pills of procardia then 90 minutes later I had to take 2 more . I was still having contractions for awhile but they finally stopped but I was kept over night just to be sure because they that from all the medication they gave me they should have seen a flat line on the monitor and they weren't .
Avatar f tn My doctor put me on procardia and it did help stop contractions I was almost 36 weeks and now I'm 38 weeks today and am still pregnant so they definitely held the contractions off I'm slowly getting them again now which is ok
