norvasc

2095551 tn?1333122531 Is there any other drug out there that will work the same way to open up small blood vessels like Norvasc but wont have the "bad swelling of legs and feet?" Anyone, please me know know, looking forward to hearing from you...
Avatar f tn We usually start patients on long acting oral nitrates (imdur 30 mg daily) because it starts acting fast and then transition the patient to norvasc which takes about 4 days to work. In addition to the nitrates and the norvasc, we also use statins and antidepressants as well. The latter have been shown to help as well.
Avatar m tn After questioning why I had high blood pressure and not getting any answers I asked to see another doc and he added Lisinopril 10mg and said come back in 6 months. Since then BP has been steady at 130's/40's. After bugging the doc enough about why at 32 i have to take 3 meds to keep BP under control he has finally set me up to see a kidney specialist.
512321 tn?1215545726 I have been having bad chest pains on the left side. I went to my doctor and he said that its all muscle. Had a nuclear stress test done. It came back fine. Had a chest x-ray done and that came back fine. All blood work came back fine. It all started when I was put on Blood pressure Medicine. My pressuse goes from 137/85 to 117/77 it varies. I am taking Norvasc 10 MG. This has been going on now for about 6 months.
Avatar f tn My concern is that I had retinal detachment surgery in March of 2008 and have not had any pain until I started taking Norvasc 5mg. daily. Is this a side effect that is normal and will it subside or is it a reason to discontinue this drug?
Avatar f tn The dr. put me on Norvasc, but after about a year and half I started having severe muscle pains in my upper arms and thighs. He switched me to Cardiezim, but the same side affects returned after about a year. He's put me on another "quick release" to use when I feel symptons, but again I have started having the side affects. I see him again this week, and dread that he's going to suggest going back to the Norvasc.
Avatar n tn I have been having muscle spasms under my right eye which last typically about an hour or so and may occur several times each day. This has been going on for over a month now. I also suffer from migraines as well as near migraine strength daily headaches, lightheadedness and occasionally have tingling/numbness in my hands and feet along with the migraines. I also have photophobia and sensitivity to sound at all times.
Avatar n tn I take 5mg Norvasc with 100 mg of a beta blocker(Lopressor) and Isosorbide (Nitrate) and Tricor every morning without any problems. But I am confused as to why Norvasc and Cardizem. They are both calcium channel blockers. Maybe someone can enlighten me on that. Have you talked to your pharmacist about any concerns?
Avatar f tn I get cold and clammy, pale, out of breath and lightheaded. Sometimes the aching travels down my arms and up my neck/jaw. My symptoms occur with activity whereas prinzmetal’s angina commonly occurs at rest. Now, I take nitroquick at the first symptoms. I also take blood thinners and a long-acting vasodilator. We're still trying to adjust the meds. Fortunately, I have not suffered a heart attack; my heart is strong, and I intend to keep it that way!
Avatar n tn The pain is relieved by a medicine called nitroglycerin (dilates coronary vessels). You have been prescribed norvasc and that should relieve any chest pains. Norvasc is in a group of drugs called calcium channel blockers. It dilates blood vessels and slows the heart to reduce blood pressure and the pain of angina. Calcium channel blockers may be needed long term. Medications may also include beta-blockers. However, in some cases of spastic angina, beta-blockers may be harmful.
976897 tn?1379167602 I never took another one and told my doctor that I wanted to go back and try the Norvasc. The Norvasc did begin to help after a couple of weeks, adn the spasms started to get less severe and less in occurrences. I wonder if I should have given the Cardizem more time or just be happy with the way the Norvasc is working?
572651 tn?1530999357 then tonight I went to take my medicine for my angina and a light went off in my brain --- I started a new drug, Norvasc (a calcium channel blocker) for my angina in mid-June. This just so happens to coincide with when my bladder took charge. Could there be a connection? I sure think so from what I have found on the web. Several sites list incontinence as a primary side effect of Norvasc for women. These sites though are more anecdotal and not fact based.
237039 tn?1264258057 A heart attack is typically a very crushing chest pain and accelerates to shortness of breath, squeezing chest or right sided chest pain and the pain may go to left axilla, left arm, up the left jaw and through to the back, under shoulder blade. There are exceptions to this description and there are many cases of 'silent' MI with different degress of muscle damage yet not all the typical presenting signs.
Avatar m tn 9 170 but my blood pressure is always fine at home i do suffer from anxiety but it goes thru the roof when i see a doctor or go to the ER i am 27 years old, i have to see a doc once a week for another condition, but it never fails my pulse and BP rises very high in doctors settings, once i come home both my pulse and pressure is fine again , my worry and problem is how much damage is being done to my heart when my blood pressure spikes like this once a week?
Avatar f tn For the past couple of weeks I've been having pain in my right hand at times it generates down through my forearm. I've also been experiencing pain in my right foot as well. I'm not sure if it is anything neurological because I had a CT done as recently as 4 weeks ago and that was normal. I was told however my blood pressure is a little high and have been put on medication to bring that down (norvasc).
Avatar m tn Exercise (aerobic) can help the heart increase heart contractions. Does your stress test report indicate hypokinesis (heart muscle impairment)? Is your ejection fraction (EF) between 50 and 70%...that calculation is the amount in percentage of blood pumped out of the left ventricle with each heartbeat? Is your left ventricle enlarged? Those readings would indicate degree of any lost contractility, and whether or not there should be treatment and another cardiologist's analysis.
Avatar n tn I was on Norvasc but my Dr. changed to Cardizem, I have trouble swalloing and the Norvasc dissolved in my mouth quickly to make it easier to take, the Cardizem Er is a big capsule that is hard to take, should I ask my Dr to go back on Norvasc?? they both seem to work equally well....
237039 tn?1264258057 During such times, the blood pressure and heart rate are both elevated and increase the need of oxygen and nutrients by the heart muscle". The 50 to 70%.usually can be successfully treated with medication.
Avatar f tn another thought it would be a good idea to reduce the tenormin to 50 mg and take 5 mg of Norvasc; and the third, suggested to gradually replace the tenormin by 5 mg Norvasc, and to be increased if needed, to 10 mg. Having read so much about Hypertension and its medications, I'm inclined towards the second opinion, i.e. 50 mg tenormin in combination with 5 mg Norvasc. However, I don't have a problem with the first opinion. My problem is with the third; I prefer to keep taking Tenormin.
Avatar f tn I am taking Amlodipine (Norvasc) 5mg and occasionally my legs and ankles (on both legs and never the leg itself) will swell to the point that my shoes will no longer fit, but the the swelling will go down for a while (a week, two weeks perhaps) until it happens again.
Avatar n tn it was discovered 10 weeks ago that i had a aneurysm on my ascending aorta 6.4 with a bicuspid aorta vavle. i had surgery 7 weeks ago st jude aorta valve dacron graft for ascending aorta. Four days after surgery i need a pacemaker due to the surgery. My question is there any long term risk or dangers of this that i should look out for. I take amiodarone (200mg) for a-fib that i developed after pacemaker surgery and celexa 20mg, zocor 20 mg. norvasc 5mg. coumadin 7.5mg m & w 5 mg.
672586 tn?1280933658 You were posting while I was typing. LOL Now I understand why the switch. In my case, though, I take both a beta blocker (Lopressor) and a calcium channel blocker (Norvasc). I wasn't able to take the Diltiazem. Gave me awful chest pains.
Avatar f tn This is a weird one (I can' find any information on it). Below my right eye (where one would have 'bags' under their eye) jumps/moves when I say words that begin with a 'P', 'B', 'M' or 'F'...I assume that this is my muscle that surrounds the eye (it begins at the corner and circle under the eye). Like I said, I can't find any information on this. What is it?
Avatar m tn Hi Nick, In short, anything is possible and many meds mixing together certainly make it harder to know what is doing what. Norvasc appears to be for blood pressure normally and a list of drug interactions can be found here : http://www.rxlist.com/norvasc-drug.htm. I claim no knowledge except of what site to look at for this info. Much of it I wouldn't follow either but it will hopefully mean something to you.
Avatar f tn All this HTN began as soon as the Norvasc and Metroprolol were discontinued and the Lorsartan 100mg and Atenolol 25mg were begun...now to only have the Norvasc added back but at 5mg versus 10mg! Can the HTN be dangerous for the new liver? Very worried. Thank you!
Avatar n tn How do metoprolol, isosorb, and benazepril together, differ from, norvasc and lanoxin.
Avatar f tn 1mg 2 x day. However, the Norvasc is not working after 12 hrs. My B/P is 150/113 12 hrs after taking the norvasc. Can I take a clonidine .1 mg along with the norvasc?
Avatar f tn My mother is diagnose with unstable angina a month a ago and the doctor asked us to monitor her blood pressure since she is discharged from the hospital her blood pressure is always normal but there are sometimes that her bp is 100/50 and last day her bp is 120/40 she is 71 years old and taking medications such as norvasc. lipitor, aspirin, imdur or ISMN and losartan. Please help me is it normal for her age? Thank you...
