We usually start patients on long acting oral nitrates (imdur 30 mg daily) because it starts acting fast and then transition the patient to norvasc which takes about 4 days to work. In addition to the nitrates and the norvasc, we also use statins and antidepressants as well. The latter have been shown to help as well.
After questioning why I had high blood pressure and not getting any answers I asked to see another doc and he added Lisinopril 10mg and said come back in 6 months. Since then BP has been steady at 130's/40's. After bugging the doc enough about why at 32 i have to take 3 meds to keep BP under control he has finally set me up to see a kidney specialist.
The dr. put me on Norvasc, but after about a year and half I started having severe muscle pains in my upper arms and thighs. He switched me to Cardiezim, but the same side affects returned after about a year. He's put me on another "quick release" to use when I feel symptons, but again I have started having the side affects. I see him again this week, and dread that he's going to suggest going back to the Norvasc.
I have been having muscle spasms under my right eye which last typically about an hour or so and may occur several times each day. This has been going on for over a month now. I also suffer from migraines as well as near migraine strength daily headaches, lightheadedness and occasionally have tingling/numbness in my hands and feet along with the migraines. I also have photophobia and sensitivity to sound at all times.
I take 5mg Norvasc with 100 mg of a beta blocker(Lopressor) and Isosorbide (Nitrate) and Tricor every morning without any problems. But I am confused as to why Norvasc and Cardizem. They are both calcium channel blockers. Maybe someone can enlighten me on that. Have you talked to your pharmacist about any concerns?
I get cold and clammy, pale, out of breath and lightheaded. Sometimes the aching travels down my arms and up my neck/jaw. My symptoms occur with activity whereas prinzmetal’s angina commonly occurs at rest. Now, I take nitroquick at the first symptoms. I also take blood thinners and a long-acting vasodilator. We're still trying to adjust the meds. Fortunately, I have not suffered a heart attack; my heart is strong, and I intend to keep it that way!
The pain is relieved by a medicine called nitroglycerin (dilates coronary vessels). You have been prescribed norvasc and that should relieve any chest pains. Norvasc is in a group of drugs called calcium channel blockers. It dilates blood vessels and slows the heart to reduce blood pressure and the pain of angina. Calcium channel blockers may be needed long term. Medications may also include beta-blockers. However, in some cases of spastic angina, beta-blockers may be harmful.
9 170 but my blood pressure is always fine at home i do suffer from anxiety but it goes thru the roof when i see a doctor or go to the ER i am 27 years old, i have to see a doc once a week for another condition, but it never fails my pulse and BP rises very high in doctors settings, once i come home both my pulse and pressure is fine again , my worry and problem is how much damage is being done to my heart when my blood pressure spikes like this once a week?
For the past couple of weeks I've been having pain in my right hand at times it generates down through my forearm. I've also been experiencing pain in my right foot as well. I'm not sure if it is anything neurological because I had a CT done as recently as 4 weeks ago and that was normal.
I was told however my blood pressure is a little high and have been put on medication to bring that down (norvasc).
Exercise (aerobic) can help the heart increase heart contractions. Does your stress test report indicate hypokinesis (heart muscle impairment)? Is your ejection fraction (EF) between 50 and 70%...that calculation is the amount in percentage of blood pumped out of the left ventricle with each heartbeat? Is your left ventricle enlarged? Those readings would indicate degree of any lost contractility, and whether or not there should be treatment and another cardiologist's analysis.
another thought it would be a good idea to reduce the tenormin to 50 mg and take 5 mg of Norvasc; and the third, suggested to gradually replace the tenormin by 5 mg Norvasc, and to be increased if needed, to 10 mg.
Having read so much about Hypertension and its medications, I'm inclined towards the second opinion, i.e. 50 mg tenormin in combination with 5 mg Norvasc. However, I don't have a problem with the first opinion. My problem is with the third; I prefer to keep taking Tenormin.
it was discovered 10 weeks ago that i had a aneurysm on my ascending aorta 6.4 with a bicuspid aorta vavle. i had surgery 7 weeks ago st jude aorta valve dacron graft for ascending aorta. Four days after surgery i need a pacemaker due to the surgery. My question is there any long term risk or dangers of this that i should look out for. I take amiodarone (200mg) for a-fib that i developed after pacemaker surgery and celexa 20mg, zocor 20 mg. norvasc 5mg. coumadin 7.5mg m & w 5 mg.
This is a weird one (I can' find any information on it). Below my right eye (where one would have 'bags' under their eye) jumps/moves when I say words that begin with a 'P', 'B', 'M' or 'F'...I assume that this is my muscle that surrounds the eye (it begins at the corner and circle under the eye). Like I said, I can't find any information on this. What is it?

In short, anything is possible and many meds mixing together certainly make it harder to know what is doing what.

I claim no knowledge except of what site to look at for this info. Much of it I wouldn't follow either but it will hopefully mean something to you.
My mother is diagnose with unstable angina a month a ago and the doctor asked us to monitor her blood pressure since she is discharged from the hospital her blood pressure is always normal but there are sometimes that her bp is 100/50 and last day her bp is 120/40 she is 71 years old and taking medications such as norvasc. lipitor,aspirin, imdur or ISMN and losartan. Please help me is it normal for her age? Thank you...
