I have started taking Norvasc for Hypertension and am having side effects such as nausea, headache, and it seems to be causing some eye pain and pressure. My concern is that I had retinal detachment surgery in March of 2008 and have not had any pain until I started taking Norvasc 5mg. daily. Is this a side effect that is normal and will it subside or is it a reason to discontinue this drug?
another thought it would be a good idea to reduce the tenormin to 50 mg and take 5 mg of Norvasc; and the third, suggested to gradually replace the tenormin by 5 mg Norvasc, and to be increased if needed, to 10 mg.
Having read so much about Hypertension and its medications, I'm inclined towards the second opinion, i.e. 50 mg tenormin in combination with 5 mg Norvasc. However, I don't have a problem with the first opinion. My problem is with the third; I prefer to keep taking Tenormin.
I'm 48 year old male, I had very high untreated hypertension for I don't know how long. I went to the doctor and he prescribed Metoprol 100mg., Lisinopril 25mg., & Norvasc 10mg. daily. Also 1/2 hydrochlorithizide 25mg every other day. Before this there were never ED problems, but since there has been. Are there any other medications to lower blood pressure without this side effect? As of now the hypertension is under control with these meds.
My bp soon came down to 90/70s. I was told to stop Norvasc and then Lopressor. I watched for a rebound but my bp and pulse were within a normal range for a few weeks without them. I continued to check my bp about every day. One day a relative said something very cruel to me at the exact moment I was taking my bp. My diastolic was 110, but systolic and pulse were normal. My diastolic wouldn't come down so I took Clonidine (as my dr had prescribed for an emergency.
My chest does not feel normal. Could that be due to the changes with the hypertension and the medications? I did make an appointment with a cardiologist, but it is not until the 10th.
Hi, Im already taking Norvasc 5 Mg and Lisinopril 12.5 Mg for my Hypertension. My Dr. wants to bring in another Blood Pressure pill ( clonidine) If i spelled that right. Do any of you all take this combo?? Just wondering if all of these made your blood pressure drop too low? Thanks for input!
My internist just lowers my Norvasc meds by cutting them in half I am 82 and have hypertension for 50 yrs...I read the term is hypokinesia.

Hello, I've been taking Lotrel 5/20 for the past 5 years to control my hypertension. However, based on my latest blood pressure readings, I think I may need a stronger dose. My question is...how does the doctor determine which would be more effective for me: increasing my dose to 5/40 or increasing it to 10/20? Is there a rule of thumb to determine which of the meds in Lotrel should be increased? I thank you for your assistance.
After questioning why I had high blood pressure and not getting any answers I asked to see another doc and he added Lisinopril 10mg and said come back in 6 months. Since then BP has been steady at 130's/40's. After bugging the doc enough about why at 32 i have to take 3 meds to keep BP under control he has finally set me up to see a kidney specialist.
Two quick questions: is there a difference between high blood pressure and hypertension (I noticed there are 2 different topics listed here) Also, I began taking 12.5mg of atenolol 2x/day - it's only my second day, so in total I took 3 pills. I noticed a feeling of calm come over me, however, I was told it might make me sleepy. I had the opposite reaction.

It has been working for me without questions. I am on Cholesterol meds and hypertension meds(Metoprolol, Altace and Norvasc) which I have been taking for the last two years. I take 5mg Norvasc with 100 mg of a beta blocker(Lopressor) and Isosorbide (Nitrate) and Tricor every morning without any problems. But I am confused as to why Norvasc and Cardizem. They are both calcium channel blockers. Maybe someone can enlighten me on that. Have you talked to your pharmacist about any concerns?
I have been experincing weak ejaculation for the past 2 years, I am on hypertension tablets such as Betolac, Norvasc, Diruetic tablets, Cardiprin, ,Zoccor and Glucofege (Hope spelling is correct) everyday for the past 10 years. I also experience weak urinating for the past 3 years too, I have also passed out stones twice.
I have a high blood pressure and I have been to both an endocrinologist and an otorhinolaryngologist several times within this month. What is the most likely reason I have the high blood pressure? Hashimoto disease the endocrinologist said or my nasal septum's fault which is not straight and my otorhinolaryngologist said? I have done a load of test if you need any further details.
9 170 but my blood pressure is always fine at home i do suffer from anxiety but it goes thru the roof when i see a doctor or go to the ER i am 27 years old, i have to see a doc once a week for another condition, but it never fails my pulse and BP rises very high in doctors settings, once i come home both my pulse and pressure is fine again , my worry and problem is how much damage is being done to my heart when my blood pressure spikes like this once a week?
