norvasc

Avatar f tn For 3yrs I had controlled HT w/Lisin/HCTZ 20/25 & Norvasc 5mg. I was a very healthy 44yo Fe, 4'10 110lbs. In Jan 07 my ins co said they wanted me to switch from Norvasc to Lotrel because they were "the same". My Dr kept me on the Lisin/HCTZ & added Lotrel 5/40. 12 days later I collapsed. At the ER my BP was 56/48, I was discharged 3 hrs later at 80/54. Things haven't been the same since.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with hypertension/high BP in June when the nurse at work sent me to ER with a BP of 210/120. I was immediately put on Norvasc 10mg and HCTZ 25mg daily. My pressure came down to 160/80 and after seeing my doc he said come back in 6 months. After questioning why I had high blood pressure and not getting any answers I asked to see another doc and he added Lisinopril 10mg and said come back in 6 months. Since then BP has been steady at 130's/40's.

Avatar m tn This might be more suited to another forum but the others were closed to comments. Anyways, I'm a 50 year old male that's been having some issues with altitude illness. Last year I had a bout with hypertension as well. This may have resulted from residing at high altitude I'm not sure, but my work requires me to spend time at altitude. Since I will be returning again, I would like to make acclimatization as painless as possible.
Avatar f tn BiDil contains an Isosorbide dinitrate that dilates blood vessels. When blood vessels are dilated, it is easier for the heart to pump and oxygenated blood to heart cells. I take isosorbide prior to going to the gym for a workout. This prevents angina (chest pains) when exercising 3x a week with the greater demand for oxygen....It is recommended to take a break from the medication as continued use will cause one to tolerate the med without any benefit.
Avatar n tn Currently I am on amiodarone 200 mg once a day and norvasc 2.5 mg and 12.5 mg of hctz and one xarelto a day. The problem I am having is when I walk across the room from the chair to the bathroom my BP jumps up to 170/90 and makes the back of my head feel full and I get a little dizzy. Do I need to switch BP meds ? I was having this problem with the BP jumping with short trips prior to having the afib.
Avatar m tn So, my cardio took me off of the ramipril and put me on 12.5 mg of metoprolol twice a day and in addition to my 12.5 of HCTZ. However, after a week of feeling exhausted, having a resting heart rate consistently in the low 50s, and not much higher otherwise, I complained during my follow up. My cardio gave me some samples of 10 mg coreg to take once a day and a prescription to fill if the side effects from the metoprolol do not get any better.
Avatar n tn Isosrbide is a long acting type of nitrate for chest pain Plavix is a blood thinner Coreg is a beta blocker to lower blood pressure and help with the heart rate and rhythm Zantac is to help with heartburn Norvasc is a calcium channel blocker to help lower blood pressure and help with angina (I take this for heart spasms) Lotensin is also used to treat high blood pressure I hope this helps you some. How is your husband's cholesterol?

Avatar n tn Norvasc 10mg, asa 81mg,levothyrozine, occasional HCTZ 12.5mg. Several years ago could hike up to 6 miles in the desert AZ and in Mountains MT. Sx: nausea, CP (squeezing) radiate to neck and left arm (off and on), heartburn regardless of intake, severe weakness (usually can lift 60 pound bag dogfood, unable to lift 20 pounds without resting, severe sweating. EKG at times showed t wave inversion, "LAD--widow maker" mentioned by one ED doc. Some QTc prolongation, brief 480-500.
2095551 tn?1333122531 Is there any other drug out there that will work the same way to open up small blood vessels like Norvasc but wont have the "bad swelling of legs and feet?" Anyone, please me know know, looking forward to hearing from you...
976897 tn?1379167602 I am taking Dyazide 37.5/25 for over 30 years now, but found out that the generics (Triamterene/HCTZ 37.5/25) don't work. I am also on Norvasc (Amlodipine) 5mmg. The combination works pretty well, although the Ace-Inhibitor occasionally will cause swelling of the ankles and feet especially if I take it together with the generic diuretic.
Avatar n tn I take 5mg Norvasc with 100 mg of a beta blocker(Lopressor) and Isosorbide (Nitrate) and Tricor every morning without any problems. But I am confused as to why Norvasc and Cardizem. They are both calcium channel blockers. Maybe someone can enlighten me on that. Have you talked to your pharmacist about any concerns?
Avatar f tn On May 12, I stopped taking HCTZ. I had read that some had had problems with HCTZ and sweating. Gradually, I seemed to have less sweating. Also, the feeling of being hot most of the time seemed to lessen. It is summer, and I do get hot, but others are hot, also. When I do sweat, it seems like a more normal sweat. I don't have sweat pouring down my face and into my eyes as much as I did, and my clothes don't become as wet.
Avatar f tn ve read a lot of horror stories of HCTZ causing severe visual problems such as closed-angle glaucoma and other vision losses. Has anyone experienced this with BP medications such as the one mentioned?
572651 tn?1530999357 then tonight I went to take my medicine for my angina and a light went off in my brain --- I started a new drug, Norvasc (a calcium channel blocker) for my angina in mid-June. This just so happens to coincide with when my bladder took charge. Could there be a connection? I sure think so from what I have found on the web. Several sites list incontinence as a primary side effect of Norvasc for women. These sites though are more anecdotal and not fact based.
Avatar m tn 7 weeks ago, after getting quarterly labs done, my PCP said my calcium was too high and took me off the HCTZ. She also said my TSH levels were high and placed me on synthroid. Last week I had office visit and my BP was 150/90. My doctor then put me on metaprolol. I started getting headaches every day. My BP remained at 150 to 160 over 90 to 100. After an office visit today she ordered hydralazine be added to my growing list of meds.
Avatar m tn 9 170 but my blood pressure is always fine at home i do suffer from anxiety but it goes thru the roof when i see a doctor or go to the ER i am 27 years old, i have to see a doc once a week for another condition, but it never fails my pulse and BP rises very high in doctors settings, once i come home both my pulse and pressure is fine again , my worry and problem is how much damage is being done to my heart when my blood pressure spikes like this once a week?
Avatar m tn Hello in I'm sorry to hear about your situation and I hope everything turns out for the better! It might ease you to know your not alone, I too have very high blood pressure I am a male and just 22 years old. I've always been very active in sports, not over weight, never smoked, don't drink, but I was started out on hctz which did nothing for me, the when to a combination of Losartan/hctz and I'm now on the max of those two drugs and my average Bp 150/90 throughout the day.
Avatar n tn I used HCTZ for 10 years to control my blood calcium. Last year, I got one morning and my heart rate when up to 128. My endo took me off HCTZ and my internal put me on Lopressor. I contued having a high heart rate after HCTZ was out of my system. This year, I was put back on HCTZ due to high urine calcium content but I could not tolerate the drug at all. Even though I was taking Lopressor, I had several instances where my heart went crazy and the beat shot up to 128-146.
1606441 tn?1303945000 Also I was soooooooooooo dizzy for 10 days after and could not stand up. I drank loads of pedialyte and gatorade and pretzels to retain water. YOu do not want to get dehydrated after a spinal. And the puncture site was terrible. It was so painful for weeks. No one told me to expect that. Also, I think the guy hit something because my sciatica was in pain for days and especially the muscle in my bottom. That was painful. You can take tylenol for pain.
Avatar n tn I was on Norvasc but my Dr. changed to Cardizem, I have trouble swalloing and the Norvasc dissolved in my mouth quickly to make it easier to take, the Cardizem Er is a big capsule that is hard to take, should I ask my Dr to go back on Norvasc?? they both seem to work equally well....
Avatar f tn another thought it would be a good idea to reduce the tenormin to 50 mg and take 5 mg of Norvasc; and the third, suggested to gradually replace the tenormin by 5 mg Norvasc, and to be increased if needed, to 10 mg. Having read so much about Hypertension and its medications, I'm inclined towards the second opinion, i.e. 50 mg tenormin in combination with 5 mg Norvasc. However, I don't have a problem with the first opinion. My problem is with the third; I prefer to keep taking Tenormin.
Avatar f tn I am taking Amlodipine (Norvasc) 5mg and occasionally my legs and ankles (on both legs and never the leg itself) will swell to the point that my shoes will no longer fit, but the the swelling will go down for a while (a week, two weeks perhaps) until it happens again.
