Norvasc and diovan

Common Questions and Answers about Norvasc and diovan

norvasc

The two major current classes of BP meds are Calcium Channel Blockers, of which Norvasc may be the leading one, and ACE inhibitors. My doctor first put me on Norvasc. The only side effect that I noticed was that it made me a little more tired on the onset. I had researched ACE inhibitors and came to the belief that I should be on one. I first tried an older one, Accupril, and it didn't work very well for me and also caused side effects. Next I tried Altace which has been great for me.
I tryed to detox while weening off toprol xl and diovan - to be honest! I got sick as dog ! I took natural detox stuff from a natural Doctor and health center - 4 days into it , I was real - real -real sick ! I stopped the detox stuff and it took about 6 days to feel somewhat better ! as when on toprol xl or diovan or both, you never feel good ! zombie land there I was ! I ended up weening down slow - on both meds took about 4 months to do it right !
I take 2 blood pressure medications, 80 mg of Inderal LA, and Norvasc(sp?). I am calm and have my blood pressure taken daily, but it has been up there lately, usually about 160/90 with a resting pulse rate of about 114. I feel some tension in my neck, and I am usually very tired. I have been diagnosed as hypothyroid and also take synthroid. I guess my question is how fast is too fast for tachycardia. My father died of a heart attack with no symptoms. Thanks in advance for any help.
I am taking Amlodipine (Norvasc) 5mg and occasionally my legs and ankles (on both legs and never the leg itself) will swell to the point that my shoes will no longer fit, but the the swelling will go down for a while (a week, two weeks perhaps) until it happens again.
I took playing around with several different meds and several different doses, but it is finally back where it should be. I just take 7mg of norvasc a day. Any way, the headaches and the high blood pressure are side effects of the Avastin. Of course I cannot be sure, but I would say that it is a good chance.
I HAVE BEEN DISGNOSED RECENTLY FOR HYPERTENSION SINCE JULY 2008 MY BLOOD PRESSURE WAS ABOUT 150/90 MY DOCTOR PRESCRIBED ME NORVASC 5MG TO BE TAKEN ONCE DAILY AND AFTER A WHILE MY BP READINGS DROPPED TO REACH 120/80 EVERYTHING WAS OK UNTIL I WENT TO MAKE LAB TESTS CHECK UPS AND MY URINE ALBUMIN LEVEL WAS SOMEHOW HIGH AS MY DOCTOR SAID SO HE ADDED ATACAND 8MG ONCE DAILY TO NORVASC HE SAID IT WILL HELP TO LOWER THE LEVEL OF ALBUMIN.....
I am currently on Norvasc (10 mg daily) and Diovan/Hct for BP. In the past, with medication, I stayed around 130/70, give or take. Now, I'm getting readings of 110/60 before taking my meds. That sounds like good news, but it's curious because frankly I'm pretty out of shape and need to take off 30 pounds. I'm wondering if I should be concerned or glad - so I can at least be prepared when I do see the doctor in a few months.
I had gone to the periodontist, and he took my bp before doing an exam, and it was 158/98. Around January, I started to get slightly higher readings (130's/90's) on my Omron digital bp monitor, and I was concerned. My cardiologist ordered blood work, a stress echo, a 24 hr holter monitor & 24 hour bp monitor. My blood work showed just 1 number out of the normal range for BUN. I've always had that as long as I can remember.
hello 1st timer here my husband is taking Imdur, warfin, diovan, clondine, norvasc amongst other meds. He diabetic, hypertension ESRD,double amputee. He was recently in ICU with septic shock. I'm afraid that did more damage to his heart. He has lost so much weight. Although his Dr has not given me any reason to believe. I feel like I will be losing him. He has this awful cough. He has also been subcribed Rifampin (is this used to treat TB ?) Is there anything I should do ....
I was diagnosed with HBP 3 years ago and on heavy meds (Toprol XL, Diovan and Norvasc 2X a day). Recently I have experienced extreme tiredness and lowering of my BP to 100 or below on my systolic reading and around 68-72non diastolic. I am to the point where it is hard to stay awake during the day at work and just not feeling up to par. In addition to my tiredness I am extremely weepy. What is wrong with me?
You could see my vein on the left side above my eye towards my hair line pulsating, does this symbolize anything? Also I am now on blood pressure meds Diovan 160 mg 2x Daily, Adalat 90 mg, hctz 25 mg and low dose asprin......is this needed, not needed and will these be something I always have to take even if I lower my BP? Anything I can do to lower bp outside of lose weight.
I have been on Diovan, Diovan HCT, Exforge, Norvasc by itself, and was recently put on Bystolic. I am 6'0" and weigh 210lbs. I participate in a high energy interval cardiovascular class two or three days a week and lift weights two to three days a week. Before starting the bystolic I was Rx'd 10mg of Norvasc once a day, my bp readings were around 130/90 to 120/76, occasionally spiking as high as 145/95 and dropping to 110/70.
Hmm 2 of the more common side affects of diovan are nausea and vertigo... cymbalta can raise blood pressure slighty( 2-3 points) and can inhibit the the elimination of lopressor causing higher concentrations in the blood. I would question the doc about the cymbalta and the diovan.
of tests in the hospital our internist diagnosed it as PAT He has tried to control her BP with various meds. (Diovan, Diovan HCT, Zebeta) and after the last serious atrial fib Oct. 2003 (at home), the ER Dr. used a lanoxin shot to reduce the high and irregular pulse. She now takes Toprol XL 25mg, HCT 25 mg, and 0.5 tab Lanoxin 0.125mg after brk, Norvasc 2.5mg after lunch, 0.5 tab Toprol 2 to 3 pm, and Lanoxin 1 tab about 7 pm. 1. Her BP always rises in late afternoon and after supper.
He was sent home on Imdur, ASA , Toprol, Plavix, Diovan, Norvasc,, and Lopid 600mg. he underwent a second cath and had the 99% RCA opened and 2 stents inserted. One of the 40% LAD blockages is now 60%. He is to undergo a second Thallium stress test, and if the LAD "lights up" they will discuss what to do nextMy question is why were the 25.% and the 2 blockages in the LAD not stented at the original heart cath?
I was slowly weened off Toprol xl and Diovan - about 8 months ago - and put on ccb -verapamil and dieretic maxzide iv been on them for about 4 months - and have been having problems, such as ankles swelling. and closeing throat when eatting! as well bloating belly conditions. over the past month iv noticed my face is always red in color. and my left eye has been twitching off and on.. I seem to dehydrate rapid and cant hydrate fast enough - even when I cutt down on the dieretic med.
I have tried numerous - norvasc, coversyl, enalapril, atenolol, diovan, propranolol n god knows what else. Out of all these, I have actually found one that suits me - nif-ten (a combination of nifedipine & atenolol). Unfortunately, it has a side effect of causing gum disease/periodontal. I am looking out for other meds to replace this.
I'm a 33 yo male on a combination of Diovan HCT 320/25 and Norvasc (Amlodipine) 2.5mg daily to control high blood pressure. My wife and I have been trying to conceive for 6 months now, with no success. We've been researching my medications to see if there could be a problem with them and came across a couple studies and forum postings talking about calcium channel blockers possibly interfering with the sperm's ability to fertilize the egg. Norvasc is listed as one of the CCB's.
'mI currently on Norvasc 15mg daily. I also take Omega 3 as a supplement and Magnesium (which helps balance), however please be advise this has work for me and I've consulted my doctor before commencing any regime that might alter my system. This being told, remember to always as your doctor. And is has not been easy leaving and coping with life under this circumstance. Your voice will be heard and i'm glad I could help and talk. Cheers!!!
5mg Diovan HCT and 10mg Norvasc. Having been very active most of my life, including top level college and pro-athletics, and having had no heart problems to date, I wonder why so many drugs. I also wonder what the potential problem with taking so many different categories is. Can you explain? Thanks.
And when Im nervous (Im taking a public speaking class, and I have to give weekly speeches), it becomes very bad, and I can't even hold anything, and my legs tremble too...And I get numbness in my fingers, and sudden pain in my legs for no reason... Last night when I went to sleep, I saw flashes of lights in fornt of my eyes for a few minutes, and I seem to occasionally drool when I lie down... I am now on Norvasc (Amlodipine) 5mg OD, and Diovan (Valsartan) 160mg OD...
I take this pill everyday and it is doing nothing for my bp. I have taken Norvasc, Atenolol, and Hydrochlorothiazide in the past and had no relief. I can feel my heartbeat all over my body (fingers, toes, temples, top of head, stomach, neck, ears, eyes) and can also see it in my chest, stomach, neck, and sometimes my wrists. When I go from a seated to a standing position (I take my time) I can feel a tremendous pressure in my head and neck and I get an instant headache.
The ER doctor said my heart was fine and all I had was too much adrenaline, and gave me Norvasc (which I didn't take). My family doctor then referred me to a cardiologist. I had a stress test with a nuclear imaging. My results came back negative with a perfect heart. Only problem was my high blood pressure witch was reading 164/95. The cardiologist then put me on 48-hour holter, which I got a result today. The cardiologist said I had too many extra beats.
I havent traveled out of the country ..the only meds I am on are blood pressure meds 10mg norvasc and 325/25 diovan hct and pepcid. I am 42 years old ..a non smoker and rarely drink alcohol. The diarrhea is the running watery type... Sometimes I will have a normal bowel movement and then diarrhea right after. but its almost daily now. I do not see any blood or mucus at this time. Prior to this I did have a month were I battled constipation My question is..
I would like to see her off the Atenolol and on 80 or less Diovan, Norvasc and a diuretic. Is there any reason why she should remain on the Atenolol? When I spoke to her MD about the Norvasc he thought it was a good idea. Jokingly, I said, "her next complaint will be swelling in her legs." he said, "I'll just add a diuretic." I know that a diuretic will not reduce the swelling in the lower extremidies caused by Norvasc. It concerned me that he diddn't...
Some medications for high blood pressure include captopril (Capoten), enalapril (Vasotec), losartan (Cozaar), valsartan (Diovan), diltiazem (Cardizem), Amlodipine (Norvasc), hydrochlorothiazide (HydroDiuril), furosemide (Lasix), and many others. • Warfarin (Coumadin) interacts with COENZYME Q-10 Warfarin (Coumadin) is used to slow blood clotting. Coenzyme Q-10 might help the blood clot. By helping the blood clot, coenzyme Q-10 might decrease the effectiveness of warfarin (Coumadin).
When I had a followup visit with my cardiologist, he took me off Norvasc, said he did not like Procardia, and put me on 80mg of Diovan. My blood pressure gradually increased with most readings ranging between 150/88 to l70/88. Earlier this week the cardiologist increased the Diovan to 160mg (I take the Diovan at bedtime). Each day since the Diovan was increased so has my blood pressure readings - today an average of 191/102.
