Norvasc and diovan

Common Questions and Answers about Norvasc and diovan

norvasc

I have been on Norvasc for many months and it has been effective in controlling my BP. Several months ago I noticed two problems becoming more and more apparent: 1. When I go to bed my nose stops up and I find it difficult to breathe most of the night while lying down. 2. I am becoming impotent with erection dysfunction. Can these be caused by Norvasc? If so, is there another BP medication that will be effective without these side effects? Thank you for your help.
I tryed to detox while weening off toprol xl and diovan - to be honest! I got sick as dog ! I took natural detox stuff from a natural Doctor and health center - 4 days into it , I was real - real -real sick ! I stopped the detox stuff and it took about 6 days to feel somewhat better ! as when on toprol xl or diovan or both, you never feel good ! zombie land there I was ! I ended up weening down slow - on both meds took about 4 months to do it right !
readings was okay but my Doctor discontinued the Toprol because my heart rate usually on the 40's. I am currently taking Norvasc 5mg. with the Diovan 320 mg. So far, my B.P. readings is very good, 110/70. But eversince I started the Norvasc, my left leg is swelling and it is becoming worst. I'd like to ask my Doctor to discontinue the Norvasc. Is there any other calcium blocker that doesn't cause swelling? I've already taken Zestril (ace inhibitor) with the Diovan before.
I was diagnosed with HBP 3 years ago and on heavy meds (Toprol XL, Diovan and Norvasc 2X a day). Recently I have experienced extreme tiredness and lowering of my BP to 100 or below on my systolic reading and around 68-72non diastolic. I am to the point where it is hard to stay awake during the day at work and just not feeling up to par. In addition to my tiredness I am extremely weepy. What is wrong with me?
HE CHANGE ATACNAD AND GAVE ME DIOVAN 80MG TO BE TAKEN ONCE DAILY WITH NORVASC.... I DONT WANT ONLY TO TAKE MEDICINES WHEN AM NOT SURE THAT AM IN NEED OF THEM? SO MY QUESTION IS:COULD ALBUMIN LEVEL BE HIGH WHERE THE BLOOD PRESSURE RETURNS TO NORMAL? AND WHAT SHOULD I DO??TAKING THE MEDICNES AS THE DOCTOR TOLD ME?OR SEE ANOTHER DOCTOR??OR REPEAT THE TEST??OR STAY ON NORVASC SINCE MY BLOOD PRESSURE SI FINE?? PLEASE I NEED A SUPPORT....
I am currently on Norvasc (10 mg daily) and Diovan/Hct for BP. In the past, with medication, I stayed around 130/70, give or take. Now, I'm getting readings of 110/60 before taking my meds. That sounds like good news, but it's curious because frankly I'm pretty out of shape and need to take off 30 pounds. I'm wondering if I should be concerned or glad - so I can at least be prepared when I do see the doctor in a few months.
He was sent home on Imdur, ASA , Toprol, Plavix, Diovan, Norvasc,, and Lopid 600mg. he underwent a second cath and had the 99% RCA opened and 2 stents inserted. One of the 40% LAD blockages is now 60%. He is to undergo a second Thallium stress test, and if the LAD "lights up" they will discuss what to do nextMy question is why were the 25.% and the 2 blockages in the LAD not stented at the original heart cath?
of tests in the hospital our internist diagnosed it as PAT He has tried to control her BP with various meds. (Diovan, Diovan HCT, Zebeta) and after the last serious atrial fib Oct. 2003 (at home), the ER Dr. used a lanoxin shot to reduce the high and irregular pulse. She now takes Toprol XL 25mg, HCT 25 mg, and 0.5 tab Lanoxin 0.125mg after brk, Norvasc 2.5mg after lunch, 0.5 tab Toprol 2 to 3 pm, and Lanoxin 1 tab about 7 pm. 1. Her BP always rises in late afternoon and after supper.
320mg Diovan 2. 25mg Hydochlor. 3. 50mg Metoprolol 4. 20mg Prilosec 5. 5mg Norvasc 6. 81mg Aspirin 7. 60mg Cymbalta (as they determined signs of depression) My mom now takes these meds for 2 days: she can’t sleep at night, has severe headache and nausea, heavy sweats and BP is between 126/84 up to 170/110 throughout the day. Dr advised to be checked for Vertigo with ETM dr…My mom is suffering from those symptoms greatly and we are not sure what is going on…Please, help! M.
I take 2 blood pressure medications, 80 mg of Inderal LA, and Norvasc(sp?). I am calm and have my blood pressure taken daily, but it has been up there lately, usually about 160/90 with a resting pulse rate of about 114. I feel some tension in my neck, and I am usually very tired. I have been diagnosed as hypothyroid and also take synthroid. I guess my question is how fast is too fast for tachycardia. My father died of a heart attack with no symptoms. Thanks in advance for any help.
I'm a 33 yo male on a combination of Diovan HCT 320/25 and Norvasc (Amlodipine) 2.5mg daily to control high blood pressure. My wife and I have been trying to conceive for 6 months now, with no success. We've been researching my medications to see if there could be a problem with them and came across a couple studies and forum postings talking about calcium channel blockers possibly interfering with the sperm's ability to fertilize the egg. Norvasc is listed as one of the CCB's.
I was slowly weened off Toprol xl and Diovan - about 8 months ago - and put on ccb -verapamil and dieretic maxzide iv been on them for about 4 months - and have been having problems, such as ankles swelling. and closeing throat when eatting! as well bloating belly conditions. over the past month iv noticed my face is always red in color. and my left eye has been twitching off and on.. I seem to dehydrate rapid and cant hydrate fast enough - even when I cutt down on the dieretic med.
Currently I take (daily)an antiacid drug, 500mg vitamin C, 400usp vitamin E, 81mg aspirin, 80mg Zocor, 500 mg Niaspan, 40mg Accupril, 160/12.5mg Diovan HCT and 10mg Norvasc. Having been very active most of my life, including top level college and pro-athletics, and having had no heart problems to date, I wonder why so many drugs. I also wonder what the potential problem with taking so many different categories is. Can you explain? Thanks.
A follow up with my Cardiologist said that he was unhappy with my BP of 138/90. I started Diovan 80 mg daily which has reduced the BP to approx 110/70. This has definitely reduced my skipped beats.
I have tried numerous - norvasc, coversyl, enalapril, atenolol, diovan, propranolol n god knows what else. Out of all these, I have actually found one that suits me - nif-ten (a combination of nifedipine & atenolol). Unfortunately, it has a side effect of causing gum disease/periodontal. I am looking out for other meds to replace this.
I would like to see her off the Atenolol and on 80 or less Diovan, Norvasc and a diuretic. Is there any reason why she should remain on the Atenolol? When I spoke to her MD about the Norvasc he thought it was a good idea. Jokingly, I said, "her next complaint will be swelling in her legs." he said, "I'll just add a diuretic." I know that a diuretic will not reduce the swelling in the lower extremidies caused by Norvasc. It concerned me that he diddn't...
I have been on Diovan, Diovan HCT, Exforge, Norvasc by itself, and was recently put on Bystolic. I am 6'0" and weigh 210lbs. I participate in a high energy interval cardiovascular class two or three days a week and lift weights two to three days a week. Before starting the bystolic I was Rx'd 10mg of Norvasc once a day, my bp readings were around 130/90 to 120/76, occasionally spiking as high as 145/95 and dropping to 110/70.
I havent traveled out of the country ..the only meds I am on are blood pressure meds 10mg norvasc and 325/25 diovan hct and pepcid. I am 42 years old ..a non smoker and rarely drink alcohol. The diarrhea is the running watery type... Sometimes I will have a normal bowel movement and then diarrhea right after. but its almost daily now. I do not see any blood or mucus at this time. Prior to this I did have a month were I battled constipation My question is..
My bp has been controlled by 80 mg. Diovan until my second round of chemo. Since I am in a clinical trial, I do not know whether or not I get Avastin, only know for sure about Carbo/Taxol. Anyone experience hypertension induced by chemo? My head hurts, it's hovering around 155/105, not good.
Earlier this week the cardiologist increased the Diovan to 160mg (I take the Diovan at bedtime). Each day since the Diovan was increased so has my blood pressure readings - today an average of 191/102. I also am taking Amiodarone 50mg, Coumadin 5mg, Lovastatin 40mg, Iron, a vitamin, Potassium, 81mg aspirin. My heart rate is usually in the low 50's. Several years ago I went through a time when my blood pressure was extremely high.
Dr prescribed diovan hct . Thank goodness I'm vigilant about checking out meds before I take them, as I'm severely allergic to sulfa, & hct contains sulfa, so I couldn't take it. Meanwhile, bp continued to climb. I called again, & the nurse told me that since I couldn't take the meds, I would have to go to the ER. I did. My bp skyrocketed up to around 200 plus (nerves). They monitored me for about 2 hours. The highest it got was 175/98 and the lowest 146/97.
When I saw my family doctor he said my heart sounded fine and referred me to a Cardiologist. The Cardiologist did a stress test with a Nuclear Arbitration. My results came out perfect. I only had a Blood pressure rate of 164/90. I had been dealing with the Palpitations for 3 months, they would get worse during the night and I would have Anxiety attacks thinking I would die. Two weeks ago I felt dizzy and lightheaded with headaches. I took my pressure and it was always high around 150/89.
Hi Spade22, I am on 2 antihypertensives now...Diovan (Valsartan) 160mg, and Norvasc (Amlodipine) 10mg...but my bp still rockets (I have a home kit) even when I just had a great night's sleep...Not on antidepressive or antianxiety pills... I used an ABPM machine, and even when asleep, my pressure was noted to be high... NOw when I take tests in school, my writing can become illegible...
Last night when I went to sleep, I saw flashes of lights in fornt of my eyes for a few minutes, and I seem to occasionally drool when I lie down... I am now on Norvasc (Amlodipine) 5mg OD, and Diovan (Valsartan) 160mg OD...Pressure pretty well controlled... Could my initial TSH, T4 and T3 levels be wrong ie a false negative? Or could my symptoms be because of something else or due to my medication? By the way, the doctor wants me to get tested for Porphyria... Please advise.
I have been diagnosed with hypertension, POTS and small fiber neuropathy and am being treated with Norvasc, Diovan and Lyrica. I still have POTS symptoms 4 - 5 days a week and the neuropathy is some better, but not great. I started having 1 - 2 + lower extremity edema about a month ago and about 2 weeks ago started having joint and muscle pain and muscle weakness that just will not stop. Also have muscle spasms and cramping. I tried taking Ibuprofen 800 mg TID as needed but it does not help.
The ER doctor said my heart was fine and all I had was too much adrenaline, and gave me Norvasc (which I didn't take). My family doctor then referred me to a cardiologist. I had a stress test with a nuclear imaging. My results came back negative with a perfect heart. Only problem was my high blood pressure witch was reading 164/95. The cardiologist then put me on 48-hour holter, which I got a result today. The cardiologist said I had too many extra beats.
I want to stick to my baby aspirin, Diovan 80/day, lipitor 20/day and vitamins and Calcium. Am I being foolish in making this decision and refusing to be cathed?
Lipitor (high cholesterol) Plavix (to prevent another possible stroke) Diovan HCT (high blood pressure) Norvasc (high blood pressure) Prozac (obviously he's depressed) His neuro ophthalmologist said his OPM and symptoms would improve over time but he feels worse every day. Any ideas?
Some medications for high blood pressure include captopril (Capoten), enalapril (Vasotec), losartan (Cozaar), valsartan (Diovan), diltiazem (Cardizem), Amlodipine (Norvasc), hydrochlorothiazide (HydroDiuril), furosemide (Lasix), and many others. • Warfarin (Coumadin) interacts with COENZYME Q-10 Warfarin (Coumadin) is used to slow blood clotting. Coenzyme Q-10 might help the blood clot. By helping the blood clot, coenzyme Q-10 might decrease the effectiveness of warfarin (Coumadin).
