Normal glucose test levels

Common Questions and Answers about Normal glucose test levels

glucose

Avatar f tn In a person without diabetes, the glucose levels in the blood rise following drinking the glucose drink, but then then fall quickly back to normal (because insulin is produced in response to the glucose, and the insulin has a normal effect of lowing blood glucose.
Avatar n tn between 70-126 is the number range that many doctors use. But this is for fasting glucose levels only. After meals, it is normal for glucose levels to rise above this, and the numbers quoted as 'normal' vary, depending on which doctor you talk to. I have read that a number of about 140-150 is considered healthy for after-meal sugar levels.
1461994 tn?1285897132 ve been on Interferon/Ribavarin therapy for 3 weeks now for HCV Genotype 2B. When I started, my glucose was 78 but it jumped to 90 this week. Is this normal? Should I be concerned that I'm going to develop diabetes if I continue with tx for 21 more weeks? My blood sugar has always been in the 70's or 80's, no family history of diabetes, I'm 59, thin and in good physical condition otherwise.
Avatar m tn He has seen people with A1c levels of 6.5+ with normal glucose tolerance test, but not the other way around. My fructosamine levels are within normal range too. Needless to say, I am very depressed right now. Would love to hear any feedback.
11079965 tn?1415126517 My doctor said I could eat my normal meal and drink anything before my test as they want levels at there normal levels. I passed.
Avatar m tn • Fasting: 1st thing in morning b4 eating or drinking any colored liquids • Postprandial: 2-3 hours after a meal Post back with your test results exactly how they appear on your copy of the lab sheet. Include the target ranges too, we can take it from there. In the meantime, have a Happy New Year celebration.
Avatar n tn Be sure to test your bedtime blood sugars. Going to bed with high levels means one-third of your day is spent with above normal levels.
Avatar f tn If your fasting levels are always in normal ranges [key word always] but your A1c result is above normal it usually indicates an improper diet accompanied with lack of exercise and improper weight. In your case, it's diet and exercise. You can start by lowering your carbohydrate intake. Lowering does not mean restrict. Do not restrict carbs from your diet or possible kidney damage may occur.
1276121 tn?1420860600 I hated the glucose test. I couldnt ever quite stomach the taste of the drink they give you. It is not bad execpt you have to stay at the doc office the whole time (at least I did mine). I found out I was an actual diabetic with my first son at 6wks. The glucose test showed me as gestational but doc warned with it showing like that in such an early phase in pregnancy that I was more likely to be a regular diabetic and he was right..it stuck with me even after I gave birth to my first son.
Avatar n tn Perhaps the best test for you would be to find out what your hemoglobin a1c test number is. This is a lab test done on glucose that shows what your AVERAGE glucose level was for the past 3 months. If that number is in the normal range, you probably have little to be concerned about. If you have not had a hemoglobin a1c test done, you may want to ask your doctor about doing it.
Avatar n tn A fasting glucose test will give a fairly accurate reading of the amount of excess glucose floating around your blood streams. A measurement of 5.0 mmol/l is considered normal, not diabetic.
Avatar f tn I didn't fast at all before my glucose test & all my levels were normal & i didnt eat anything before either. Just call you doc & ask her what you can have people are diff so something thats good for others might not be good for you. I call my doc and asked before i came in.
Avatar f tn Did anyones levels come back high then did the 3 hr one and have it be normal? Please let me know!
Avatar n tn As a supplement, are you sure it's 4 hr OGTT or a 2-hr one? 2 hr OGTT is only done when the fasting glucose is normal but the clinical picture still points to diabetes. As i've said 2 hr OGTT has a low reproducibiliy, but that's the only test we can do if the fasting glucose is normal but diabetes is still suspected. I think it's likely that you're receiving proper care, though I don't really know about the details of your situation.
Avatar f tn So I got a call this morning saying my one hour glucose levels were elevated and I have to do a three hour test... This is my fourth and I have never had to do the three hour test before. I am really disappointed because for the last 2.5 years I have been eating whole foods, limiting sugar, and exercising a lot. This really came out of nowhere. I am hoping to pass the 3 hour test.
Avatar n tn and that if the eating behavior was corrected, that their A1C/blood glucose levels would naturally decrease to within normal levels without the aid of any medication, assuming the individual is healthy and actually has no other complications attributable to diabetes. I have one more question I have been unable to find a clear answer to through Google searches.
Avatar n tn Hello, IowaMom, from a fellow Iowan! Normal target glucose levels are between 80 and 120. Glucose levels rise in everyone depending on the food you eat, your body starts breaking the food down and absorbs the carbs before insulin is released to cover those carbs. A 144 bloood sugar isn't abnormal for anyone.
Avatar n tn ok i have recently taken a urine test because i had some kind of uti they said there was a very high abnormal range of glucose in my urine but when i came back the next day they gave me a blood suger test which was normal does anyone know what may have caused the high glucose in my urine?
Avatar f tn Truely normal A1C is less than 5.0. An A1C of 5.8 (average somewehre around 120) is higher than truely nromal and should be telling you to make lifestyle and diet changes and keep monitoring things closly. This could reflect lower fastings and higher after eating... or it could reflect generally raised levels. If you can get a test kit you coudl try testing fasting levels upon waking (ideally < 95, truely normal in the 80s.
Avatar f tn Who has taken the glucose diabetes test? How did it go? I'm kinda nervous what if I do come out positive for it . Did your pregnancy still continue normal and did ur baby have any complications ?
Avatar f tn Those levels were normal(normal c-peptide and normal glucose levels), although a glucose challenge may also provide some information regarding more subtle issues with glucose handling. Based on those test results and his family history etc I think he will need close monitoring and repeat testing at regular intervals to get a handle on any abnormalities before they start affecting his growth. You seem to be on top of everything, so I am sure you will ensure he gets the best care. Take care.
Avatar n tn We are not physicians, so please check anything we write with your own physician. Your symptoms could be either high or low glucose, and the purchase of the glucometer is the best way to find out if abnormal glucose levels are the cause of your symptoms. The normal non-diabetic's glucose ranges from 70-126 when fasting. I have read that after meals, glucose levels can go up to about 146 before a person is considered in the diabetic range.
Avatar f tn I have my glucose test coming up next week and my doc said I cld eat before the test....what is ok to eat??
Avatar m tn 140 is the American measure.
