Avatar m tn - A rare condition in which glucose is released from the kidneys into the urine, even when blood glucose levels are normal (renal glycosuria) - Pregnancy -- up to half of women will have glucose in their urine at some point during pregnancy. Glucose in the urine may mean that a woman has gestational diabetes. Glucose will only show up in the urine once it has reached high levels in the blood.
Avatar m tn He has seen people with A1c levels of 6.5+ with normal glucose tolerance test, but not the other way around. My fructosamine levels are within normal range too. Needless to say, I am very depressed right now. Would love to hear any feedback.
Avatar n tn Hello, IowaMom, from a fellow Iowan! Normal target glucose levels are between 80 and 120. Glucose levels rise in everyone depending on the food you eat, your body starts breaking the food down and absorbs the carbs before insulin is released to cover those carbs. A 144 bloood sugar isn't abnormal for anyone.
Avatar n tn This depends on what kind of control the diabetic has on his or her glucose levels. If the person is tightly controlled and keeps glucose levels normal most of the time, the urine composition is going to be different from a non-controlled diabetic whose glucose is high or low as a general rule. Type 1 diabetes simply means that the pancreas doesn't function properly -- other effects on the body depend on how carefully that person keeps his or her glucose levels in the normal range.
Avatar m tn The body recognizes intense exercise as a stress and releases stress hormones that tells your body to increase available blood glucose to fuel your muscles. If your glucose levels exceed normal levels discuss with your doctor medication or medication adjustment.
Avatar f tn I did once, which alarmed my doctor for the same reasons.... but after follow-up tests (1hr glucose test & 24hr urine catch), everything was fine. Now I'm 34weeks & everything is perfectly normal-all 'risky' levels significantly dropped. The same may happen for you, but just make sure eating a well-balanced diet. Also, never have juice, milk, or any other sugary substance before an appointment. That was my mistake.
Avatar n tn I believe there's some confusion on glucose levels so I'll try to clear that up for you. A fasting glucose of 97 mg/dl is not high but is leaning towards the upper range of normal. Normal fasting is between 60/70 to 99 mg/dl Prediabetes is 100 to 125 mg/dl Diabetes is considered 126 mg/dl and above The 5.2% A1c does indicate a slightly elevated level of 103 mg/dl but I would rule that towards your pregnancy.
Avatar n tn If you searched the Internet on glucose test levels, you will find they vary in some degree to what is considered normal. Most say 120 mg/dl is the high water mark. At 120 you be considered pre-diabetic. Above 120, as in your 127, diabetic. As an example, MedHelp says : "Levels up to 100 mg/dL are considered normal. Levels between 100 and 126 mg/dl are referred to as impaired fasting glucose or pre-diabetes.
Avatar f tn Have high levels of blood and protein in urine. Glucose levels and blood pressure are fine. I'm about 41 female About a 10 days ago I was surprised when I went to the restroom and noticed I had red bloody urine. At that time I had no pain only the urge to go to the restroom more so but no other symptoms.
Avatar n tn In a normal Non Diabetic person, what is the highest (peak ) Glucose levels that are usually attained. If the Peak is below 200 is this considered normal? or is it much lower?
Avatar f tn I have gestational diabetes and they do check with every urine test to see if you have glucose in your urine. It helps them determine if your body is having issues producing and using insulin. I will tell you glucose will show up in your urine the more sugar you eat so if you are eating a lot of Ben and jerry's that's probably what is doing it. If i go off my diet and eat a few cookies they see the glucose in my urine.
Avatar m tn one of the symptoms of diabetes is frequent urination and i agree with your doctor that you rule this out from the picture through testing glucose levels in your blood or urine. Like i said, the urine glucose is not used as before because it's sensitivity is not that good and many factors affect the result such as the medications i mentioned before. Your blood sugar tested 80 and it is below the 200 cut off so it's normal.
534105 tn?1226157177 Dear Dr Ramsey: Thanks for your kind words and your advice. We have talked with our Dr and he agree with you, he said that my mom is in a stage of prediabetes but in an early stage so he think that with some exercise like waking for 20-30 minutes 3-4 days a week and with some changes in sugar intake (lowering) she can reverse the situation, hope so. Also try to control her stress, which I hope she can with exercise and other lifestyle changes.
Avatar m tn These sticks are a good indicator, but they will only detect glucose in the urine if there is above a certain level (fairly high) of glucose in the urine. An HbA1c blood test shows average blood glucose levels over a sustained period (about a 3 month period). Rather than a normal blood test that would only show the sugar levels at the time you gave your blood for testing.
Avatar n tn I also bought a Glucose strip (Diastix) to test out my urine frequently. Indeed everytime after food, my glucose appear quite high as the testing strip colour was dark but after a few hour it went back to negative or very light colour ? Also i started to realise that my toilet got very tiny ants.... Does this 2 symptom already prove that i got diabetes? I have been drinking alot of water lately .. at least 3 litre a day... will that help ? What if i really diagnosed diabetes...
Avatar m tn i will let the doctor answer in detail, but my first thoughts are to get you to check your urine glucose levels (fasting of at least 8-12 hours, first urine, mid-stream) to begin with. if the BG level is disturbingly high, ketones can be passed out through the urine giving it a fruity odor. but even a strict, measly diet can do the same. so the first step is to check your BG levels (fasting and post-prandial) and Urine glucose levels (fasting).
Avatar m tn Your fasting levels are within normal range [60/70 to 99 mg/dl]. Fasting levels are a snapshot of your glucose taken at the time of test. It doesn't tell you what your glucose was two hours, a week or month prior to the test. That is why the results of an A1c test converted to eAG [daily estimated Average Glucose] provides a clearer picture. Question to you is how long - in hours - after lunch is "Post lunch"?
1327535 tn?1295227611 Fruity smelling urine has several causes. What you didn't tell us is how your glucose levels are currently so its difficult to say if uncontrolled/unmanaged diabetes is playing large role in this. When glucose levels are excessive blood sugars are passed to the kidneys which in turn spill them out in the urine. If you breath has a fruity smell you need to see a doctor asap.
Avatar n tn between 70-126 is the number range that many doctors use. But this is for fasting glucose levels only. After meals, it is normal for glucose levels to rise above this, and the numbers quoted as 'normal' vary, depending on which doctor you talk to. I have read that a number of about 140-150 is considered healthy for after-meal sugar levels.
