Avatar m tn I had a full blood check up last week and my glucose levels came back as high for a morning reading at 9.2. I had some more tests today including a fasting test and a hba something or other. My question is soe this now mean i have diabetes. I am very much a night person regularly up til 4 in the morning and eating and drinking before i go to bed. I am white, not over weight and have no family history.
Avatar n tn Hello, IowaMom, from a fellow Iowan! Normal target glucose levels are between 80 and 120. Glucose levels rise in everyone depending on the food you eat, your body starts breaking the food down and absorbs the carbs before insulin is released to cover those carbs. A 144 bloood sugar isn't abnormal for anyone.
1461994 tn?1285897132 ve been on Interferon/Ribavarin therapy for 3 weeks now for HCV Genotype 2B. When I started, my glucose was 78 but it jumped to 90 this week. Is this normal? Should I be concerned that I'm going to develop diabetes if I continue with tx for 21 more weeks? My blood sugar has always been in the 70's or 80's, no family history of diabetes, I'm 59, thin and in good physical condition otherwise.
Avatar m tn Hi. So, the exact number for everyone as to fasting glucose level and what they'd see after 3 hours after eating is unique. There is a 'range' of normal. Normal for fasting glucose level range is around 72 to 99 and up to 140 two hours after eating. https://www.medicinenet.com/normal_blood_sugar_levels_in_adults_with_diabetes/article.htm You sound within normal to me. Have you been concerned for any reason? Did you recently get this lab work done? Tell us more!
Avatar m tn When did you have your blood glucose tested? Was it before you ate or after? Actually, personally, I consider 125 very good on either side of eating. Just me.
Avatar m tn He has seen people with A1c levels of 6.5+ with normal glucose tolerance test, but not the other way around. My fructosamine levels are within normal range too. Needless to say, I am very depressed right now. Would love to hear any feedback.
Avatar m tn Today I ate a breakfast burrito and had orange juice. My blood glucose was 92 thirty minutes after eating. Sometimes it will fall in the 60 range. My fasting blood glucose level was around 80. It seems like my body overcompensates when I consume sugar. Do you think I have reactive hypoglycemia?
Avatar n tn Be sure to test your bedtime blood sugars. Going to bed with high levels means one-third of your day is spent with above normal levels.
Avatar f tn glucose exam before and after eating. the glucose before eating is 87 and after eating is 91. the insulin before eating is 9.1uU/ml and after eating is 113.2uU/ml.my LDL is 103.32 and my HDL is 43.0 and triglicerides is 99.9. should i be concerned?? am i at risk of getting diabetes?? is the insulin level after eating normal??
Avatar m tn Hello, Glucose being found in your urine is not normal. Blurry vision is also not normal. As mentioned above you now need a full check for diabetes. Diabetes can develop rapidly. If you are thin it may not be Type 2, it could be type 1. If you have a home meter you can test 2 hours after eating (ideally <100 but <120 is still considered acceptable) and fasting first thing in the morning before eating - normal is in the 80s but < 95 is considered normal.
Avatar n tn between 70-126 is the number range that many doctors use. But this is for fasting glucose levels only. After meals, it is normal for glucose levels to rise above this, and the numbers quoted as 'normal' vary, depending on which doctor you talk to. I have read that a number of about 140-150 is considered healthy for after-meal sugar levels.
Avatar n tn In my 36 years with diabetes, I have noticed that sometimes I can FEEL the drop in glucose before my glucose levels get below normal. The symptoms that you describe can happen even when the actual number is normal at the time. In my case, when this happens it ALWAYS means that my glucose is on the way down towards hypoglycemia even if when i test it, my glucose is normal. If I test again in a half hour (and do not eat or drink any carbohydrates), the glucose will be low.
Avatar m tn This effect can persist, lowering blood sugar levels for hours afterward. An hour of afternoon exercise may lower glucose levels until the next morning, affecting the fasting blood sugar test. Exercise can also affect glucose levels by releasing adrenaline. This raises blood sugar temporarily. Physical exertion or other activities that cause excitement may increase fasting sugar levels if performed shortly before the test.
Avatar n tn Congratulations on getting your health close to normal - losing weight, and reducing glucose levels. You appear to be playing a guessing game with your glucose level by checking only weekly. As the previous poster stated, you need to obtain a home glucose meter. When should you check your glucose? 1. Right after waking and before eating breakfast. Do not eat anything at least 8 hours prior. This is called preprandial (before eating) level. 2. Then postprandial (2-4 hours after eating).
Avatar f tn Some doctors say this is normal while others contend that a normal person would return to normal fasting levels. Testing your glucose should be handled as such: OGTT [Oral Glucose Tolerance Test] - You will be given a sugary substance then tested at different intervals to see how well your body handles the excess sugar. A1c test - will provide a mean glucose measurement. The test result is in % [percentile].
Avatar f tn So because I threw up during the 3hr glucose test, I have to check my blood sugar levels at home for a week. So just curious what is the normal range? I have to check it when I wake up and 1-2 hrs after every meal.
502753 tn?1210272595 I have read that cake and refined carbs can cause a rise in glucose/insulin levels. So your blood sugar rises and then falls leaving you tired and hungry again. (for nondiabetics) It is best not eat refined carbs and snack on healthy foods (veggies) that will improve your satiety in your energy levels.
304573 tn?1345577338 i have maintained healthy levels until the last few weeks and find my testing is showing higher than normal levels 3 hours after eating...also waking up with elevated levels in the morning(fasting)...just curious if the tx is exaserbating this or if i am slowing sinking into the type 2 which almost makes no sense as I am now eating for once in my life healthy and appropriately....
Avatar n tn I checked it before eating and it was 77 so why would it go down after eating a salad and a few wheat crackers? 71 is normal but again I felt horrible, weak, shaky, anxiety, etc. Could this be something other than Hypoglycemia? Before I had lunch I ran 2.5 miles on the treatmill and felt fine so this is beginning to puzzle me. I had a stress test done and it was normal so I have no heart troubles, but I was also diagnosed with acid reflux.
Avatar n tn and that if the eating behavior was corrected, that their A1C/blood glucose levels would naturally decrease to within normal levels without the aid of any medication, assuming the individual is healthy and actually has no other complications attributable to diabetes. I have one more question I have been unable to find a clear answer to through Google searches.
