Common Questions and Answers about Normal blood sugar levels reading

blood-sugar

Avatar n tn I have had a blood sugar test and gave a reading of 6.1 about 1 hour after a breakfast (Weetabix, Milk, Orange Juice). I have to go back and have repeat test but after having nothing to eat approx 9 hours beforehand....will this give an increased or decreased reading.
Avatar n tn My sister in law takes her blood sugar reading with a One Touch Ultra Smart tester. She gets a reading of 440. Sometimes the numbers are even higher. How can this be so high without major problems? My husband took his reading and got 86. She is a believer of herbals and supplements. Could one of these make a false reading? We have tried to get her to go to a Doctor, but she won't.
Avatar f tn Your morning glucose levels indicate type 2 diabetes. Try not to eat starchy foods or foods loaded with carbohydrates at night. They turn into sugar after digestion. And no late snacking. The "throughout the day" has no meaning unless they were 2-3 hours after a meal. The sometimes of "192, 263" are high and entering the dangerously high zone. The times to test are mornings before breakfast, before each lunch and dinner meals and 2-3 hours after each meal.

We are also volunteers, so any information that is passed on to you should first be verified with your diabetes healthcare team. I am a Mom of a 16 year old girl who was diagnosed at the age of 21 months, so the information that you receive from me is based on my experiences with living with diabetes for almost 15 years.
Avatar n tn ve been having troubles lately before I knew my blood sugar was high, after I would eat I would feel very bad, not knowing I had high blood sugar I was leading a normal diet, even some fast food here and there, I'm sure my blood sugar has been very very high until I started dieting now. Are those numbers normal or should I be worried?
Avatar m tn Your doctor should test your HbA1c. This test gives an average blood sugar over the past approximately 3 months. Normal HBA1C is 4.3 - 4.6, with < 5.0 still being acceptable. If your HBA1C is 6 - 7 your blood sugars are too high. If it is above 7 you will be officially diagnosed as diabetic. Diet, exercise and weight loss are all a critical part of management of diabetes.
Avatar n tn Would you say this is out of the normal range. I had blood work done about a month ago when I had my annual physical and my sugar level came back at 109. My doctor didn't seem to alarmed.
Avatar n tn abeybaby, I am not a doctor so don't take my opinions as the absolute truth. For that you have to go to a doctor. A normal blood sugar is around 90. Most of us wait around 2 hours after a meal before testing. For a diabetic, 145 would be OK after 1 1/2 hours. It would be interesting to know what yours was after 2 hours. it may just take your body a little longer to process the sugar. However, your fasting blood sugars look good to me.
452066 tn?1400626877 First of all, I am not a diabetic, but would like to learn more about it and blood sugar levels due to a severe arrhythmia problem I have(also have an implanted defibrillator) and I am tired of talking til I am blue in the face to doctors and I feel there may be a link to either my glucose levels or hormones. I have been seen by 2 endocrinologists and both said I am fine...BUT they have told me that my insulin production is very high but they won't do anything about it.
Avatar m tn You could also ask your doctor about the option fror starting on insulin. Actual ideal blood sugar levels should be in the range of 80 - 120 all the time. Fasting should be < 100. You are only 50, young, and it is important to control your diabetes well to be sure you don't face complications down the line. Diet for diabetes should be low carb / high fat / moderate protein. This is the most recent recommendation. You can research this online easily.
Avatar f tn Hypoglycemia/ low blood sugar would be considered blood sugar levels less than about 70. Your result of 103 is normal, not hypoglycemia. It is likely that your symptoms may be from other causes. Sometimes headaches can be a sign of not drinking enough - so a glass of water and a few minutes to relax / be quiet - may help a lot. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn I'm a type 2 diabetic, 69 yr old ,man, and for years I have been able to keep my daily blood sugar/A1C well with normal range. This was when I was working - now that I'm retired, and because I became sedentary my A1C rose from 6 to 7.2 and my daily morning readings jumped to average 150 ml. Now I do daily treadmill walking exercises plus some weight training in the gym and find that after 1.5 hour of exercising my sugar goes up 50-80 points.
390388 tn?1279636213 Hi all. It has been a while. Hope all is well with everyone. I was wondering at what point should someone call their doctor concerning their BP and HR. In other words when is it at a dangerous level? Mine of course with Spring seems to be on the rise again with all of the symtoms. My sugar levels have been climbing too. With the sugar levels I figure I'm safe as long as they don't go over a fasting 200. I'm not quite sure about BP and HR though.
Avatar f tn I am also having trouble with low blood sugar. My blood sugar goes from 44 to 255. I know normal is 80-120 . At the Diabetes clinic they said if mine dropped from 50-70 to take gluclose tabs, 8, but my body is reacting like a normal one. I take 4 at 44 which is life threatening low. I also notice that lately it's dropping after I eat which I don't understand. This discussion is related to Blood sugar drops after eating.
304573 tn?1345577338 i have maintained healthy levels until the last few weeks and find my testing is showing higher than normal levels 3 hours after eating...also waking up with elevated levels in the morning(fasting)...just curious if the tx is exaserbating this or if i am slowing sinking into the type 2 which almost makes no sense as I am now eating for once in my life healthy and appropriately....
325405 tn?1262290178 I also know that gestational diabetes is more strict with blood sugar levels than regular type II diabetes. Now that I have type II, what are the ranges to aim for for blood sugar levels for fasting and then for 2 hours after a meal? Right now, I'm testing about 100 to 110 in the morning and about 110 to 130 after meals. If I forget to take my metformin at night, my fasting level is usually around 120 to 130. But, with the medicine it is 100 to 110 fasting. Is this good?
1461994 tn?1285897132 Some people also experience low blood sugar while on treatment. A reading of 90 is not concerning at all and is actually quite a normal read.
Avatar f tn My mother had a blood sugar of 1134 and ahe was talking and walking. Diabetics who have had a very high blood sugar for a long time can tolerate such high readings. Or people who drink alcohol on a regular basis because alcohol helps to lower blood sugar. A glucometer can only measure up to 500. Anything above that will register as "High".
