325405 tn?1262290178 Haven't yet been in to see an endocrinologist or a dietary person to talk blood sugar levels and diet. Am having problems dealing with my insurance company who won't even cover my stupid testing strips. They basically are $1 a strip. Expensive. I had gestational diabetes several years ago (gestational diabetes was covered 100% for supplies and visits), so I am aware of how to do all the blood testing and have been doign fine about that.
Avatar n tn Are there any chart available for conversion of sugar numbers from mg dl to mmol?
Avatar f tn I have recently been diagnosed with borderline gestational diabetes. What are the normal levels of a pregnant women I should be looking for when I test. I'm 22 Weeks pregnant, and already have an extremely high risk pregnancy. This is my miracle baby and I don't want to risk losing this one too but I also feel I'm being really selfish by not wanting to use insulin.
Avatar f tn So because I threw up during the 3hr glucose test, I have to check my blood sugar levels at home for a week. So just curious what is the normal range? I have to check it when I wake up and 1-2 hrs after every meal.
Avatar n tn thanks for that but does not answer question about whether the level will increase or decrease from random(non fasting).
Avatar f tn But this morning I got really lightheaded and a headache all of a sudden(which I know is normal in pregnancy) but I checked my blood pressure again to see if that was it, and it was perfect. So I checked my blood sugar and it was 79, I had just had a fruit smoothie. The medical assistant at work told me it was low, and then another told me it was slightly low. My question is does anyone know what it should be? I go to the Dr tomorrow so I will ask him, but I'm just curious.
Avatar f tn Hello, Normal blood sugars in pregnant women are actually LOWER than normal blood sugars in non-pregnant persons. The totally normal range in pregnancy is somewhere between about 65 and 100. A blood sugar of 79 30 minutes or so after eating is totally normal, and shows no signs of diabetes at all. You should be very pleased with this number. Of course, eat healthy and avoid excess sweets. Take regular moderate exercise. Wishing you a healthy pregnancy.
452066 tn?1400626877 First of all, I am not a diabetic, but would like to learn more about it and blood sugar levels due to a severe arrhythmia problem I have(also have an implanted defibrillator) and I am tired of talking til I am blue in the face to doctors and I feel there may be a link to either my glucose levels or hormones. I have been seen by 2 endocrinologists and both said I am fine...BUT they have told me that my insulin production is very high but they won't do anything about it.
Avatar f tn Hypoglycemia/ low blood sugar would be considered blood sugar levels less than about 70. Your result of 103 is normal, not hypoglycemia. It is likely that your symptoms may be from other causes. Sometimes headaches can be a sign of not drinking enough - so a glass of water and a few minutes to relax / be quiet - may help a lot. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Hi am in 31 weeks for my second baby. Random blood sugar level is 161. Is it okay? Or it causes any problem? Also Hb is 9. Please suggest. Am worried so much.
Avatar f tn I am also having trouble with low blood sugar. My blood sugar goes from 44 to 255. I know normal is 80-120 . At the Diabetes clinic they said if mine dropped from 50-70 to take gluclose tabs, 8, but my body is reacting like a normal one. I take 4 at 44 which is life threatening low. I also notice that lately it's dropping after I eat which I don't understand. This discussion is related to Blood sugar drops after eating.
304573 tn?1345577338 i have maintained healthy levels until the last few weeks and find my testing is showing higher than normal levels 3 hours after eating...also waking up with elevated levels in the morning(fasting)...just curious if the tx is exaserbating this or if i am slowing sinking into the type 2 which almost makes no sense as I am now eating for once in my life healthy and appropriately....

Avatar f tn m type 1 diabetic and pregnant, so u have been testing blood sugar like crazy for a good amount of my life.
Avatar n tn Would you say this is out of the normal range. I had blood work done about a month ago when I had my annual physical and my sugar level came back at 109. My doctor didn't seem to alarmed.
Avatar f tn It is also possible to have elevated blood sugar if you fast for a longer than usual period. It is good that your subsequent tests were ok. Anyway, use this as your motivation to stay healthy. Minimize sugar and processed foods, exercise. A regular check of blood sugars every once in a while (and certainly every 6 months) is a good practice so you can monitor yourself over time.
Avatar m tn Your doctor should test your HbA1c. This test gives an average blood sugar over the past approximately 3 months. Normal HBA1C is 4.3 - 4.6, with < 5.0 still being acceptable. If your HBA1C is 6 - 7 your blood sugars are too high. If it is above 7 you will be officially diagnosed as diabetic. Diet, exercise and weight loss are all a critical part of management of diabetes.

Avatar n tn Hello. I'm not a medical professional, just the parent of a kid with diabetes, and I'm a proponent of checking with your doctor if you have concerns. Based upon your scores, though, you are well within the normal range for both tests. 70-99 is normal for fasting, and 70-145 is normal for postprandial. I don't think you need to be worried about lowering your blood sugars, unless your symptoms change.
183933 tn?1290216962 Actually, normal blood sugar levels are different for a pregnant woman (my sister had gestational diabetes that's how I know). Fasting 70-90 2 hours after any meal should be <120 Bedtime <120 It is very important that the blood sugar be kept within the normal limits. If her blood sugar remains high, the babies will be getting too much sugar, which will cause them to gain weight too quickly, and that increases the risk of premature labor.
