Hi there, After tubal ligation surgery a woman will have her menses and there are no menstrual changes following tubal ligation since there are no hormonal changes. After tubal ligation the chances of pregnancy are very less but there are chances of failure in any method. Pregnancy is the commonest cause of missed periods. Take up urine pregnancy test. If the test is negative you need to be evaluated for other possibilities like hormonal imbalances, thyroid dysfunction, ovulation disorders .

i would be encouraging him to have a vasectomy as it's not as dangerous as a tubal ligation and it's easier to reverse if you do decide in the future you would like to have children.
I had a tubal ligation after my third child. For two years after that i had regular periods. In april 2009 i had no period and then again in may still no period. i took several home pregnancy tests that were all negative. in june, i had a light two day period. now, it's june and i'm three weeks late. i have no insurance and have avoided going to the doctor because i cannot afford it. again, i've had a negative pregnancy test. what are the odds that i could be pregnant again?????
If you miss a period beyond a week then please contact your doctor. Pregnancy after tubal ligation/tubal clipping/tubal burning is rare, less than 1-2 percent cases. Also the chances of pregnancy are highest in first few months and reduce with time. After 19 years of the procedure, chances of pregnancy are really rmote. In all probability you are in pre-menopause. However, if you have missed your periods, the first thing to test for is pregnancy.
I have had a neg preg test and been to the doctor, who advised me to wait and see. Did any of you ladies who have fallen pregnant after tubal ligation had similar experiences? Also, what method of ligation did u have?

Pregnacy after tubal ligation Topic Area: Pregnancy - Abnormal Forum: The Maternal and Child Health Forum Question Posted By: Tamm on Sunday, April 25, 1999 Posted by Tamm on April 25, 1999 at 14:03:41 I had a tubal ligation about 13 months ago..I recently went into see my dr with abnormal symtoms in my cycle ( server cramps, heavy bleeding large clots) He informed me that I was miscarring. I had blood work done that showed a high level of pregestrone, which confirmed his diagnosis.
no mine was called a tubal coagulation....but i have done some research and it is basically the same thing.
I had a tubal 9 years ago after my 4th C-section. After I would have one day of heavy bleeding and then I would have a nasty brown discharge for about 2-3 weeks straight and then it was time for my period again. My doctor then did a D&C and a thermal ablation to try to stop this. It helped somewhat but I still have the discharge of old blood off and on for about 2 plus weeks. Makes it difficult for my partner and I. No odor just discharge.
i know what ur going through revonc i think i am going to retest soon but ive learned so much from these forums i heard on one of the that after a tubal ligation its almost immposible to detect pregnancy through a urine test crazy huh i also heard if you are prego n tubes u cant detect it through urine test either.
Wow, you poor thing. Did you hear about this PTLS from your doctor? Are you thinking of a reversal? I imagine if you got a reversal, then you're back at square one as far as preventing pregnancy. (I got my tubal at 38 due to my last baby being high-risk and it was suggested strongly that I was done. I probably would have had at least one more.) I guess if you had it reversed, you could ask your husband to get a vasectomy?? Those symptoms really run the gamut! And they sound awful.
I had my tubes done after my 3rd c section and i had no problems at all the only thing i say is make sure thats what u want i thought it was what i wanted. Then my husband left me me for someone else he got pregnant i have since remarried and the guy i married has no kids so at the moment we r doing ivf to try for a baby (we just had a m/c @10weeks) this was our 2nd ivf try and hoping the next try has a better outcome . So yeah just give it alot of thought before u decided thats all i say.
"Feeling pregnant" after Tubal Ligation 7 yrs ago... Up until recently I've never questioned the success of my procedure. But for the last several months I've experienced EVERY pregnancy symptom except a i've had weird periods every month and several negative tests.
It is not uncommon for women to have irregular periods after a tubal ligation. Often women will choose to regulate their cycles will birth control pills even though they don't need them for contraception. It is very important to have a period at least once every three months to keep the lining of the uterus from getting too thick. If you don't have your period soon, you should probably call your doctor. OH, and I ALWAYS recommend a pregnancy test, even if the tubes have been tied.
Hi...I had a tubal ligation (clamps) and about 6 months after the surgery was done...I was preggo...waalaa!!! Yes sweetie it can happen and I am a living witness that you can get pregnant after having your tubes tied....
I'm a 41 yr old mother of two considering the Novasure procedure and just wanted some input from other people who have had it. My doctor will not do the procedure unless I also get a tubal ligation with it so I wondered if anyone else out there had the procedure with the tubal?? Basically I've had heavy periods since after my youngest was born. For the past 5 years, they have become even heavier with large clotting.
