594189 tn?1386916607 Maybe the low carb diet is right for your body? Not everyone can follow all diet plans. I still eat carbs (a ton) and I'm still losing weight without a problem. Maybe stick to this low carb diet till the end of the month and see what weight comes off, if none maybe switch to something of your own.
2053729 tn?1330435506 In regards to the diet. I DO NOT like to diet because I feel deprived. I started the high carb/low carb because of an article I read by Chris Powell who did Extreme Makeover - Weight Loss. The idea was to stoke the thyroid by confusing it. When you cut out carbs, the thyroid slows down so by having high carbs on alternating days, you confuse the thyroid and it keeps working but then you get the low carb days to help with weight loss. I have really cut back on sugar and junk.
Avatar n tn I eat breakfast 15 gram carbs, snack 15 grams carb, lunch 60 grams carb, snack 30 grams carb, dinner 60 grams carb, snack 15 grams carb. Its crazy. This is my first pregnancy.
Avatar f tn I actually seem to be gaining weight. not to much, but not losing anything at all even though having the extreme pain and dhiarria. anyone else experience this? I also have a thyroid issue so I have always had a hard time losing weight so maybe thats it. thanks!
Avatar f tn I kept on the very low carb diet, eating mostly proteins - fish fish and more fish I started losing weight really fast. I was originally at 112 - 115 keeping my weight at that by eating a ton on carbs. As soon as I was diagnosed I cut out carbs and now my weight is at 92 - 95 pounds. I am very small boned and when I was younger I weighed between 90 & 95 pounds until I turn 40 something. My morning blood sugar fasting when I was first diagnosed at hardly ever below 135 in the morning.
Avatar n tn You have very fatigued and no matter how much you diet and exercise you are only burning your hormones out more and not achieving weight loss. Healing has to start from the inside first before outside appearances can be done. If you have been "off" for a long time your body is in need of repair to get balanced first before your metabolism kick starts and starts to burn. I know people on 700 calorie diets and still step on a scale after 4 to 6 weeks and have gained 5 pounds !!
Avatar f tn Hello! I am 36yrs old and weigh 265lbs. My doctor put me on a low carb/no sugar diet. Last month, I faithfully exercised doing The Firm DVD's 5 days a week and walking at least 30 min. 5-6 days a week. I also stuck to the eating plan all month, with the exception of 2 days. The scale only moved (up and down) within a 3lb range. I am very discouraged. I've lost weight before using Weight Watchers. I haven't exercised like this in years....
Avatar m tn Dear All, I am fifteen years old and would like to lose some weight. Please don't tell me its unhealthy for teenagers to diet, because I'm not happy with my body weight, I'm a little overweight. I am on a no carb diet, with mainly protein and wegetables, and I'm excericing a lot; walking, lots of running and riding, but I'm not losing weight. I'm 120lbs and would like to be at least 113.
Avatar f tn When they added vegetables back in, they were very small portions. The independent research showed this diet did not do what was intended, which was not so much weight loss as to eliminate heart disease (I believe what Atkins died of) and didn't result in lasting weight loss. That's why you don't hear about it much these days. The newer low carb diets allow more vegetables, but the best diets is still one tailored to the individual, not some generalization.
Avatar f tn If your A1C is high you are likely pre-diabetic. That combined with PCOS will make it tough getting pregnant. Ask your doctor about taking metformin. This will help regulate your insulin levels which will help your diabetes and will work with your ovaries to hopefully get them to ovulate. Metformin has also been known to help women lose weight combined with diet and exercise. Watch your portion size. When you eat a carb make sure you've got a protein. Cut out sugars.
Avatar n tn I recently consulted with a weight loss doctor who prescribed a sensible diet (moderately low carb) and the medication Adipex. That combination was magic for me. The diet resulted in rapid weight loss, and the prescribed medication made it easier for me to follow the diet. I did have to follow up often with my physician, but the results are worth it!
Avatar n tn t already, you might want to try a low-carb diet because decreasing the carbs in your diet can help to stabilize your blood sugar. Calories still count on a low carb diet, but because you're eating a higher proportion of protein and fat, and fewer carbs, it might keep you satiated on fewer calories. That is generally how people lose weight, or keep it off, on low carb diets.
Avatar f tn Low carb no carb diet! It's perfectly safe.
Avatar f tn s go in your Breast milk and you should be losing weight during breast feeding . Cut back Carb would be the best . Eat only 40 to 60 carb aday and you will be slim in no time. But remember your baby all was cames first.
Avatar n tn Maybe look into changing from low fat, to low carb diet. Low carb diet helps some - definitely has helped me where no other diet has. make sure your levels are optimal, as well.

Avatar f tn That is why they say that in achieving your goal of losing weight, you should consider discipline and hardwork. Some would even say that losing weight is psychological that if you get into your mind that you can refrain carbo and sugar then you can achieve it.
6896476 tn?1386858324 Uhm, may I ask if a very low carb diet is really effective for losing weight? because I really don't have enough time to exercise. I am going to school and i take part time jobs, so i really don't have enough time to exercise. what can i do to lose 30 lbs within 3 months. I am 58kg and 5 ft tall.
Avatar m tn Dr. W. I'm sure you've heard the phrase "fat and happy." Well, it's not just folklore. The same carbs that make you fat (and contribute to diabetes and other problems) also make you happy. It's simple science: Carbs allow more of the amino acid L-tryptophan to penetrate your brain. The L-tryptophan triggers your brain to make more serotonin, and the serotonin makes you feel happier. It's as simple as that!
Avatar f tn Each one of your meals should include a protein source, a fat source and low-carb vegetables. Working out is extremely important to losing weight quickly and keeping it off. It is best to do some sort of resistance training like weight lifting. If that is not an option, cardio workouts work too.
Avatar n tn t a lot, but losing weight slowly by changing your diet and exercise habits permanently, not by using some "diet," will make it more likely the weight will stay off.
Avatar f tn Id love to eat more choices but stick with 3 diff proteins, low carb veg, no fruit, little to no dairy, no grains. I keep losing weight. I was always around 130 at 5.7 inches and now 108 lbs. I cant put on weight on this under 50g carbs a day. Any suggestions on best diet for a thin person like me that isnt overloaded with meat/fat? Im already eating some fats at each meal 2-3 x a day. Im always tired. Thank you for any suggestions.
Tbd Hi, depending how long you have had diabetes, and your overall condition, losing weight and changing your diet to a strict low carb diet / keto diet, could possibly put your diabetes into remission or at worst make it very much easier to manage. The principle of low carb diet is restricting carbs, particularly all grains, sugars, starchy veges and sweet fruits, and eating a diet that focusses more on protein, low carb plant foods (veges and non-sweet fruits), some nuts, and healthy fats.
219363 tn?1189755821 I am dieting and exercising not only to feel better, but also to lose weight. I have done a very strict low calorie diet with 1200-1500 calories, and exercise everyday. I might lose 1 lb in 3-4 weeks that way. I have recently started a low carbohydrate diet with calories maybe 1500-1800 daily and 20 carbs maximum. My intake consists of vegetables, lean beef, chicken, pork and fish. I also eat eggs and 4 oz of cheese daily. I am losing weight on this plan.
