Avatar f tn If you miss a dose of Nitroglycerin Patch, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not use 2 doses at once. When used for long periods of time without a break, some people develop a physical need to continue taking Nitroglycerin Patch. This is known as physical DEPENDENCE. Do not suddenly stop taking Nitroglycerin Patch without your doctor's approval.
1098952 tn?1270309713 Most people with HCM do not have any blockages in the coronary arteries. So if they take a drug like nitro or anything that dilates those arteries it causes a sudden drop in blood pressure that can be very dangerous. I carry a medic alert card that states not to give me any Nitrates. I had this happen one time and it was nearly fatal.
Avatar n tn If it ONLY has #3 on one side and nothing on the other, white and round, according to drugs.com, it is Nitroglycerin .3mg - however, it would be best to double check with your pharmacist - they'd be able to tell you for sure what it is.
Avatar f tn A couple of weeks ago my cardiologist offered to rx nitroglycerin tabs (0.4 mg sublingual) to help diagnose whether my symptoms are due to ischemia or not. I've used them twice now and am having trouble deciding whether they really helped. What I mean is, my symptoms always go away eventually so how can I tell whether it was the nitro that helped relieve them? The first time was during the afternoon last week when I was having a squeezing heaviness in the center of my chest.
Avatar n tn I'm sorry to hear that you are struggling with your COPD. It does sounds like you were experiencing angina, which is chest pain that occurs when the heart muscle demands more oxygen than what is being supplied. Common caused of angina are narrowed coronary arteries and hypoxia (very low blood oxygen caused by respiratory disorders and/anemia).
Avatar n tn The sublingual nitroglycerin seems to work to relieve the pain/pressure when it occurs but I am still conerned over the shortness of breath and fatigue along with a low temperature..95 and widely varying resting heart rate... 46 to 78 and widely variable resting blood pressure 148/98 to 102/70 thirty minutes later. What further testing, if any, would you suggest?
Avatar m tn I have been experiencing left sided chest pains and left arm pain for several months now...I would describe the pain to be mostly pressure/tightnes in nature, sometimes it could be sharp in nature, the pain shoots down my left arm. The pain lasts anywhere from a few minutes to several hours. I have been prescribed nitroglycerin to take as needed for chest pain and this medicine surely helps. I've had several EKGs and cardiac enzymes done which were all normal.
Avatar f tn My husband was trying to get me up but I was too weak to do it. They took me to the hospital (this was very early in the morning..l like 5am). I totally do not remember approx. 3 hrs. My daughter and my husband said I could hardly speak that I didn`t make any sense. I was at the hospital all day till evening had a cardiac stress test etc.. I was told I did not have a heart attack that I had a heart spasm. After I got home I saw the blood pressure cuff on the floor.
Avatar f tn I do have benign PVCs. However I am unsure if my EKG was fully normal or not although I am pretty sure it was but what has me questioning it is the fact that I was given 4 aspirin and 2 nitroglycerin pills. My vent rate 126bpm PR interval 152 ms QRS duration 76 ms QT/QTc 306/443 ms P-R-T axes 71 66 47 Are those all normal? I do have high blood pressure lately along with an almost constant high heart rate. I wish I could post the actual EKG image. Thanks in advance.

Avatar n tn Nitrates are also found in illicit drugs such as amyl nitrate (poppers). If you are not sure if any of your medicines contain nitrates, or if you do not understand what nitrates are ask you doctor or pharmacist. Penegra (sildenafil) is not approved for use in women. There is also a potential for cardiac risk during sexual activity in patients with pre-existing cardiovascular disease.
Avatar f tn (As per the Hospital Cardiologist after a heart cath) One of the meds I was given was sublingual nitroglycerin and I have had to use it many times so far (I only use it when the chest pains last longer than 20-30 minutes or get really bad). I do not have insurance and cannot afford to see a Cardiologist but I was wondering how often people usually have to use nitroglycerin.
Avatar m tn t matter but i have in the last week been wearing it about 2 hours off and she could be right it may be putting too much acid for my stomach to handle because i have really noticed the diffence in my stomach since then. I may back off to 12-14 hours. Thanks you may have helped me!!!!! I didn't know that nitro gly.
Avatar n tn You should see a doctor, preferably a cardiologist, to discuss possible alternatives/substitutes for Nikoran OD. He/she will be able to give you the proper dosing, make sure there are no contraindications with your other co-morbidities, and make sure there are no unwarranted interactions with other drugs you are currently taking.
Avatar m tn Now, she is back in the hospital due to chest pain again. The doctors say there is nothing they can do for her and that everything looks good and she will have to live with the pain. The doctors just did an ECG and say all is good. Is this possible? She is on constant Nitroglycerin and Morphine prn. Should she get a second opinion? What other procedures could she have done to take away this pain? She says the pain is getting more frequent and stronger. Thank you for your responses.
Avatar f tn When they injected the dye into the artery they could not see anything. However, when nitroglycerin was administered everything showed up...no blockage. I also have chest pains and shortness of breath and fatigue along with the coldness spreading to my legs along with leg heaviness, cramps and weakness when walking. I have been referred to a cardiologist. What is the treatment for severe vasospasms? Could this mean I am having vasospasms everywhere including coronary vasospasms?
