Avatar m tn Is there something like unstable variant angina and if so is that different from unstable angina? I.e. does unstable angina always refer to the heart rather than the arteries contracting?
Avatar f tn it was not caused by a blockage but by vaso-spasms related to unstable angina and I was placed on medications to try to manage this. (As per the Hospital Cardiologist after a heart cath) One of the meds I was given was sublingual nitroglycerin and I have had to use it many times so far (I only use it when the chest pains last longer than 20-30 minutes or get really bad).
572651 tn?1530999357 I have nitroquik - sublingual nitroglycerin - to take if I have angina pains - this morning about 5 am I was miserable and couldn't tell if it was heart or ms symptoms and I took one. As always it stopped my discomfort, depressed my already low blood pressure and I went to sleep for about 3 hours. I've used nitroquik for the past 3 months or so and it always stops the pain and gives me relief within minutes.
Avatar n tn I was diagnose with clogged arteries over a year ago. I even had a stent put in because one of my arteries was ecluded. I still had stable angina every time I did some for of cardio activity or is I ate something with sodium. I started using Nitroglycerin patches and even have the pills just in case my angina episode occurs. I had a date and I read online that you can't take viagra and any nitrates cause it can drop your blood pressure really low.
Avatar n tn i have been diagnosed with spastic angina. i have blood pressure 116 over 72 angiogram shows no problem with cholesterol 2.5 on test. i have been given norvasc and lipitol ?
Avatar m tn I only take isosorbide prior to a workout, and nitro when engaged in an activity that brings on angina. I understand your doctors are suggesting taking isosorbide daily as aschemia does not always produce angina even though the heart cells are not getting sufficient blood supply. This can lead to a silent heart attack so the medication is recommended continuously whether there is angina or not and older people in general are likely to have a silent heart attack.
Avatar n tn At the hospital the Doctors did an ECG twice and suspected unstable angina before I travelled out of my country for the Echocardiography. Below is the complete result of the ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY COLOUR DOPPLER REPORT 1) Mild Left Ventricular Hypertrophy 2) Trivial Mitral regurgitation, tricuspid regurgitation 3) Mildly Sclerotic aortic Valve 4) Grade 1 LV Diastolic Dysfunction 5) Normal sized left ventricle with good global systolic function, no regional walls motion abnormalities.
Avatar f tn Are there any new treatments for unstable angina? I am 5 years post CABAG w/ 3 bypasses. Since that time I have blocked off most of the bypasses, I have 4 stents and have had 15 heart caths in 5 years. I have to make an average of 1 to 2 trips to the ER for pain control when nitro s/l and nitro patches fail to work.I have had to retire because of the angina, can't garden or vacuum. My current meds are plavix, vytorin, ranexa ( max dose) , atenlol(75mg),norvasc (5mg), asa(325mg).
Avatar m tn m not disagreeing with the dx of stable angina, and the possibility sleep related stress that can provoke angina pectoris, but the tests indicates according to the post that OP has unstable angina. Variant angina pectoris usually occurs spontaneously (triggering mechanism unknown), and unlike typical angina, it nearly always occurs when a person is at rest. It doesn't follow physical exertion or emotional stress, either.
Avatar f tn t check troponin levels for 3 days even though he had unstable angina. From what I have read, symptoms of unstable angina and NSTEMI heart attacks are identical. Only a troponin test can truely indicate whether a person has unstable angina or NSTEMI since EKGs may not pick up electrical changes in heart.
Avatar n tn What kind of tablet for angina? Was the angina evaluated by stress testing, CT or Cath? What were the results of these test? No one can possibly provide you with a reasonable answer to your question based on the very limited information you provide. You should be asking this question of the physician who did your testing and diagnosed your angina as well as prescribed your medications.
Avatar n tn It does sounds like you were experiencing angina, which is chest pain that occurs when the heart muscle demands more oxygen than what is being supplied. Common caused of angina are narrowed coronary arteries and hypoxia (very low blood oxygen caused by respiratory disorders and/anemia). You should talk to your doctor as you may be a good candidate for a low dose nitroglycerin patch which opens the coronary vessels to increase oxygen supply to the heart.
Avatar m tn I think I have Unstable Angina, my doctor has put me on Lipitor, Plavix, Asprin, Monodur and has doubled my dose of Atenolol to 100mg, what I would like to know is with this treatment can Unstable Angina become Non Unstable Angina?, it would be nice to know if the blood thinning drugs have desolved the blood clot that is part of Unstable Angina. David.
976897 tn?1379167602 I have been really thinking about what the cardiologist said about my LAD and that he believes it could be unstable angina. If my LAD is full of stents from top to bottom, can it spasm? Do stents actually get squeezed together and then expand again? I was under the impression that a stent held an artery fully open and it was unable to expand or contract. If an artery is strong enough to squash a stent, then wouldn't that make a mess of every procedure done to millions of people?
5902149 tn?1376877360 You state that you have angina or unstable angina. It makes a big difference whether it is stable or unstable angina. Stable angina normally gives you chest discomfort (pain) during activity and these symptoms go away at rest, while unstable angina can give problems even at rest. If unstable angina is diagnosed, the caregivers will probably not let you go home as this is a dangerous condition.
Avatar m tn I am currently on medication for Angina symptoms, there is some doubt as to if I have Angina pain or pain caused fron Arthritis in the Neck which I have had for about two years, it seems the sym[ptoms can be similar. I am going for a Stress Test in a couple of weeks time but I have a question, can Nitrolingual Pumpspray ease pain other than Angina ?, in other words I guess I am asking can the Spray ease the pain of Neck Arthritis? Any help would be most appreciated David.
Avatar n tn s coronary occlusion without angina could be the condition has slipped into unstable angina. Unstable angina occurs even at rest; there Is a change in the usual pattern of angina and is unexpected. It is usually more severe and lasts longer than stable angina, maybe as long as 30 minutes. May not disappear with rest or use of angina medication. Your husband should see a doctor to rule out a heart attack.
Avatar m tn I know this seems just like typical unstable angina, but I had them normal test results. I have a few questions here if you could be so kind to answer i would greatly appreciate it. 1.N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic Peptide predicts significant coronary artery lesion in the unstable angina patients with normal electrocardiogram, echocardiogram, and cardiac enzymes. Does that seem like a good test for CAD that you know of?? 2.
Avatar m tn If you do have unstable angina (diagnosed with this), you should see your doctor immediately. In my country, UAP is treated similar to a heart attack (a so-called NSTEMI). If you haven't been diagnosed, and your only symptom is unstable breathing (not completely sure what this means, are you short of breath or do you just breathe irregularily?) you should get a complete examination of your heart and lungs.
Avatar m tn rushed into hospital with in about 90 minutes. treated for unstable Angina. while still in hospital for second night she had unstable angina again. This time she was diagnosed with NSTE-MI and ACS. She was given medicine and advised to go for CABG. after about each 3 days she suffered with breathlessness and fall in oxygen saturation, which everytime was managed with oxygen theraphy at home. After about 12 days she had worst breathlessness and chest pain. She went throuth CABG on 28 OCT 2016.
Avatar n tn Monotrate, Vasotrate, Ismo, Imdur, Angicor), Isosorbide dinitrate (brand names: Sorbitrate, Isordil), Sublingual nitroglycerin tablets or spray (Angised, Angispan, GTN spray), Transdermal nitroglycerin patches or ointments (brand names: Top nitro, Nitroderm TTS, Myovin). Nitrates are also found in illicit drugs such as amyl nitrate (poppers). If you are not sure if any of your medicines contain nitrates, or if you do not understand what nitrates are ask you doctor or pharmacist.
Avatar m tn There are two types of angina, stable and unstable. With stable angina it is easy to diagnose and predict when symptoms will occur. It is also usually treatable with medication, PCI or bypass. Lifestyle and diet change can also have a big impact on relieving symptoms. With unstable angina it is more difficult to diagnose because symptoms can be very intermittent. This condition is basically caused by coronary arteries going into a spasm, squeezing and restricting blood flow.
Avatar n tn There are different types of angina. The unstable angina requires immediate attention, while the stable angina can be treated with medications. So, if your aunt has unstable angina, she needs to have looked at that on short notice. If she has stable angina there is perhaps not so much urgency, but she needs to have it treated anyway if she wants the gallbladder operation If it appears that theangina is from a new blockage, chances are they can put in another stent to solve the problem.
