Avatar m tn And why would you use something that is not prescribed your MD. Nitroglycerin is not a.drug to mess with. If it ended up on the wrong person, in the wrong concentration, there could be severe consequences.

Another over the counter med is Benadryl - readily available over here but not sure in India. In another thread some of us had commented on applying ice packs/cool towels which help in a pinch. Hope is subsides soon because it's really bothersome.
Avatar n tn have had dry eye syndrome and blepharitis for the past fifteen years or so. Usually once I clean and apply drops it regulates both conditions. However over the past few days I have noticed that literally any time I go into my bedroom my eyes go insanely dry, far worse than normal. I have mold in my room half of which I have gotten rid of but there has been no change. I have also been using nitroglycerin ointment for an anal fissure and am wondering if it could be connected to that.
1102290 tn?1278499953 In addition, I would try to get an oral prescription antihistamine. Some people use over the counter Benadryl and over the counter steroid cream but they did nothing for me and my rash, just were not strong enough. Over the counter steroids creams and over the counter antihistamines were useless for me, totally useless. They did nothing. My treatment team was useless and dragged their feet doing nothing until the rash was really pretty bad and I demanded they do something.

Furthermore, the treatment rationale for HCM can actually counter the rationale used to treat the same suite of symptoms in a patient who does not have HCM. For instance, many HCM patients have chest pain and shortness of breath—a common symptom of coronary artery disease that is treated with nitroglycerin.
Avatar f tn I have a cold an taking no medicine is killing me. Is there Any over the counter meds I can take?
4371309 tn?1357956329 My Dr at Kaiser said that the OTC and the ones they prescribe are the same. I didn't argue with her since she has the degree and just bough some from the pharmacy. When ever your next visit is with your OB check with her/him.
5079728 tn?1365549989 So any medication that you can go in and buy without a prescription is considered an over the counter medication. This would include every single med lined up on the shelves ..... pain killers, cough meds, diarrhea meds, nausea meds, stomach meds, anti-itching meds, everything. If I recall correctly, you have cirrhosis, so you really do have to be careful not to take anything that the doctor does not approve first.
Avatar f tn An over the counter medication is any medication that can be purchased without a prescription "over the counter", but does not make the medication safer and needs to be taken according to the directions on the package and there is a need to be more vigilent and take into consideration individual health, the benefits versus the risks and potential interactions with any prescribed meidcations.
Avatar n tn But, I would like to know if there is an over the counter medicine. I only get the urgency after a little stress. It stops after 10 hours or so on it's own. But, a cheaper "as needed" OTC medicine would sure be something I am interested in.
765828 tn?1306263868 , there could be a serious reason why this is happening, i dont mean to scare you, it could be that you are constipated and pushing to much, but if the bowl is filled up, i would call your doctor right away, and this way, they can rule out different causes and hopefully get to the problem, i wouldnt take anything over the counter until i was seen by a doctor, good luck, let us know how you make out.
Avatar f tn yes yes, I am clean from Vicoden, Antidepresants but still am using a sleep aid, have been using over the counter meds for sleep since the 80's then went to prescription sleep aid and now I only sleep 3 or 4 hours using them. I am going to go off them soon. My Dr would like to see me wait until Jan just because I came off two meds this year and had surgery's but please don't go to prescription sleep aids I think it is harder to get off them than OCT.

Avatar f tn Thanks! I have used one of those barrier protection items before. Can't think of the name of it. I think it was an over-the-counter eczema cream. That sort of thing helps big time. My particular type of eczema is most likely from frequent hand washing. The nurse practitioner that originally diagnosed it and prescribed for it said she gets it, too. Of course, health care folks probably wash at least as often as I do.
Avatar m tn Sounds like you have an infection. Maybe you caused irritation from too much cleaning. I'd try an over the counter topical antibiotic and stop cleaning so much. Once a day with just the smallest amount of soap and water gently with your fingertips, rinse thoroughly and reapply the ointment. If that doesn't help, you may want to see your doc to assess the infection.
1403795 tn?1282567667 Unfortunately, the stronger anorectal gels and ointments available are usually prescribed by doctors and can not be bought over-the-counter. Continue the conservative measures mentioned and I recommend that you check with your doctor for proper management. Take multivitamins also to help you stay strong despite this condition. Take care always.
