572651 tn?1530999357 I have nitroquik - sublingual nitroglycerin - to take if I have angina pains - this morning about 5 am I was miserable and couldn't tell if it was heart or ms symptoms and I took one. As always it stopped my discomfort, depressed my already low blood pressure and I went to sleep for about 3 hours. I've used nitroquik for the past 3 months or so and it always stops the pain and gives me relief within minutes.
Avatar n tn Well, Viagra is not safe at all in the presence of nitroglycerin tablets and in fact, we know that if anyone takes Viagra with nitroglycerin tablets, that the blood pressure can be lowered precipitously and can be lowered to such levels as can be extraordinarily dangerous to you. [ABC News report from May 2008 - Internet] As we know, not everyone experiences negative side effects from every medication.
Avatar n tn I assume the diagnosis of hyperreactive responses not only to the constrictor effects of acetylcholine, but also the dilator effects of nitroglycerin were detected diffusely in the epicardial coronary arteries of patients with coronary spastic angina. The goal of treatment is to control chest pain and to prevent heart attack. The pain is relieved by a medicine called nitroglycerin (dilates coronary vessels). You have been prescribed norvasc and that should relieve any chest pains.
Avatar n tn What kind of tablet for angina? Was the angina evaluated by stress testing, CT or Cath? What were the results of these test? No one can possibly provide you with a reasonable answer to your question based on the very limited information you provide. You should be asking this question of the physician who did your testing and diagnosed your angina as well as prescribed your medications.
Avatar n tn It does sounds like you were experiencing angina, which is chest pain that occurs when the heart muscle demands more oxygen than what is being supplied. Common caused of angina are narrowed coronary arteries and hypoxia (very low blood oxygen caused by respiratory disorders and/anemia). You should talk to your doctor as you may be a good candidate for a low dose nitroglycerin patch which opens the coronary vessels to increase oxygen supply to the heart.
Avatar m tn I am currently on medication for Angina symptoms, there is some doubt as to if I have Angina pain or pain caused fron Arthritis in the Neck which I have had for about two years, it seems the sym[ptoms can be similar. I am going for a Stress Test in a couple of weeks time but I have a question, can Nitrolingual Pumpspray ease pain other than Angina ?, in other words I guess I am asking can the Spray ease the pain of Neck Arthritis? Any help would be most appreciated David.
Avatar f tn I am a heart patient with long time experience of angina, chest pain. When it is angina the chest pain gets worse when you are standing up and moving around. Gets less when you are resting. I take nitroglycerin under tongue for chest pain. If it doesn't go away in 15 minutes then I call my dr or an ambulance and go to emergency room. If your left chest hurts when you go to sleep it is not a typical angina pain. BUT you should check out any chest pain with a doctor.
Avatar f tn it was not caused by a blockage but by vaso-spasms related to unstable angina and I was placed on medications to try to manage this. (As per the Hospital Cardiologist after a heart cath) One of the meds I was given was sublingual nitroglycerin and I have had to use it many times so far (I only use it when the chest pains last longer than 20-30 minutes or get really bad).
Avatar m tn Does it make sense that exercise can bring on chest pain when one has variant angina or am I being misdiagnosed and in fact have unstable angina?
Avatar n tn Monotrate, Vasotrate, Ismo, Imdur, Angicor), Isosorbide dinitrate (brand names: Sorbitrate, Isordil), Sublingual nitroglycerin tablets or spray (Angised, Angispan, GTN spray), Transdermal nitroglycerin patches or ointments (brand names: Top nitro, Nitroderm TTS, Myovin). Nitrates are also found in illicit drugs such as amyl nitrate (poppers). If you are not sure if any of your medicines contain nitrates, or if you do not understand what nitrates are ask you doctor or pharmacist.
Avatar f tn I have MVP and a PFOI have also had swelling in my left leg/foot. It seems to get worse as i am more tired. Should I contact a doctor? could it just be anxiety?

1098952 tn?1270309713 Shortness of breath, angina (chest pain), fainting may occur, and palpitations or changes in the rhythm of heart, may feel like a rapid heartbeat, a skipped or extra heartbeat, or just an uncomfortable awareness of one's heartbeat. Palpitations can be associated with sweating or lightheadedness. Have you been diagnosed with hypertrophy cardiomyopathy?
Avatar n tn ed is correct nitro dilates vessels. I take a nitrate (isosorbide) for more than 6 years 3 times before going to gym for workout. My blood pressure does not drop between intervals...in fact I was told to have intervals of nitrate free period. It is true, nitro dilates the coronary vessels and prevents angina (chest pain). The patch should only be worn for up to 12 to 14 hours a day, or as directed by your doctor, but continued use with no interruptions can cause a tolerance for drug....
Avatar f tn is their a cure for angina. also i get a dry throat also a pain in my chest. this is really worrying me.
Avatar n tn one weeek ago I had 2 stents placed in heart artery since then I have had chest pain somewhat like angina through the day I wonder if this is normal and if I should contact my doctor.
Avatar m tn Usually, pain in the left side of the chest is related to angina. If the pain is in the middle of the chest, it could be arteries spasming or a heart attack. If pain lasts 30 minutes or more, than it could be a heart attack. Also, if ribs are out of alignment there can be sharp pain. You may want to check with a Chiropractor to see if that is the problem. I have noticed that I sometimes get pain in the center of my chest when my heart beat is fast around 90.
Avatar n tn I was under enormous stress when the pains started and the fear that it was cardiac in origin added to it. I had the nitroglycerin sublingual tablets. I took them, sometimes they helped, other times they didn't. To this day I have no definitive answer as to the cause of my pains, but they seem to have subsided for the past 6-7 months. Try the nitro and see if it helps. My guess is that it won't help indigestion, but would if it was due to vasospasm or other cardiac cause.
Avatar m tn You may remember, on 2/23/10 I had 2 stents placed in Diag 2 and 1 stent in my Mid LAD. I also had a 100% distal LAD and Diag3 opened. No stent placement in those locations because they were too small of a vessel to put a stent. On 3/31/10 I went back in to have my Ostial Cirmcumflex stented and when inside, they discovered that my distal LAD had re-stenosis of 80% already. I was told that “this is common” and I figured it would happen anyway from everything I have previously read.
Avatar n tn Angina in an otherwise healthy 20 year old male is EXTREMELY rare, but it can happen. Angina comes from pain resulting from a lack if oxygen from poor blood flow to the heart muscle mostly due to blocked arteries although arterial spasms are also a possibility. There are two types, stable angina that comes on with exertion at a predictable level of physical stress. Unstable angina can some on at anytime, including at rest.
503418 tn?1231098736 hello. can anyone tell me if acute pain felt in the left of chest with no other symptoms can indicate heart problem ? last night i woke up with pains in the far left side of my breast but which soon passed and again today i have had this pain (doesn't last and doesn't affect me in any other way).
Avatar f tn I read about nitroglycerin and Propranolol Hydrochloride would you recommend it?
Avatar f tn Two years ago I had the first time in my life a couple of Angina incidents which came back this summer with a vengence. Last months I had to call 911 three times, was in the hospital 2 times because of it. I underwent all tests there are for Angina cramps, even had an EKG done while cramping.
Avatar f tn During the administration of ergonovine , she had severe pain in chest. To remove it , her was introduced nitroglycerin, but it did not help . During the administration of ergonovine left coronary artery disappeared (total occlusion). Variant angina? It was the same after nitroglycerin. Also appears to have step-up step-down phenomenon ( allusion to myocardial bridging ). If necessary, her coronarography: https://www.dropbox.com/s/noy4tczflcnw71p/Coronary%20angiography.
Avatar n tn I have been experience constant pain for six months. It started with heart palpitations. After three days in the hospital with an echo, EKGs, and heart enzyme studies, it was determined that the issue is not related to my heart. The palpitations eventually subsided but that pain that presented with them has not. In fact, it's gotten much worse. Sometimes it's all of the way down my arm into my finger tips. It feels like it's in my muscle.
Avatar m tn t know much about that drug, but I would think that it is taken in the place of Nitroglycerin. In my case, the beta blocker is the drug responsible for my lack of energy. I stopped taking Plavix. Just a choice I made for myself, and I stopped taking an ace inhibitor. My heart rate and blood pressure would get too low if I took the Altace with the others. I take Metropolol, Isosorbide (Isordil), Norvasc, Tricor, and Nitro as needed, but stopped a few of the other drugs.
Avatar n tn If you still have unstable angina symptoms, have the angiogram as soon as possible and in the mean time, keep nitroglycerin within reach. In major hospitals they can sometimes do the exploring angiogram and the placement of a stent in one run.
