Avatar n tn Thanks for the replies, only seeing them now! I'll ask the doc about calcium Dacelc, that's interesting, hadn't heard anything about that before. Also I've been speaking to friends who have had babies more recently and they say you are now given an injection in the thigh just as baby is being delivered and this helps the placenta to come away.
8695952 tn?1399659395 My midwife knows about it, and the birth center is near the hospital, so I hope everything is fine. My grandmother retained the placenta for two of her pregnancies, and she has seven children, so maybe it won't happen for you this time around. Good luck.
Avatar f tn In thr 1st I had a retained placenta and needed It manually removed in the OR. I had a gender scan at the weekend and they told me that I have an accessory lobe placenta on the front and that the main placenta is on the back. They said yo mention it to my doc at my next appointment. Any one heard of this.... will I need a c-section?
Avatar f tn i had my SIS this afternoon. they said i have an arcuate uterus. i am waiting for my ob/gyn to call me and discuss this with me. yes. i feel that the doctors are really grasping for answers. i dont think they really believe me. the doctor that i saw today did mention getting an MRI of my abdomen. i will talk to my doctor and see what he says. they have checked for retained placenta a few times after my d&c but they have come back empty.
480331 tn?1310403529 Hello! I experienced post partum hemmoraging after I delivered my son at age 42. I had to have an emergency D&C. The reason for my bleeding was retained product. If I would have another child, what are the chances this would happen again--and what precautions would be taken by my OB?? Thank you!
Avatar n tn I was diagnose with clogged arteries over a year ago. I even had a stent put in because one of my arteries was ecluded. I still had stable angina every time I did some for of cardio activity or is I ate something with sodium. I started using Nitroglycerin patches and even have the pills just in case my angina episode occurs. I had a date and I read online that you can't take viagra and any nitrates cause it can drop your blood pressure really low.
4290325 tn?1356918391 She should not have that discharge or odor. Could be pyometra or she has possibly retained part of a placenta. Whatever the reason, I suggest you get her checked ASAP!
572651 tn?1530999357 My bp is also low - averages 90/60 but the nitro is for the angina which is not bp related. I find it really knocks me out for a while after I get over the headache ..... If my pain is really MS related and not cardio related, I'm wondering what the nitro is really doing.............
Avatar n tn Given that it is not rising very much, I would guess it is retained placental tissue. It's the placenta that produces the hCG reading, so it can go on for a while if a little bit of living tissue was still attached to the uterus.
Avatar f tn The medical community are always going to advise things based on scientific evidence and official studies approved by the larger group. It takes them a long time (if ever) to embrace more alternative or natural or non medical options. So that's not surprising. Doesn't mean that those options are bad or wrong they just aren't proven by science so not recommended. In which case you have to so your own research and make your own educated choices.
Avatar m tn Nitrate Medications for heart disease - The combination of vitamin C with nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate, or isosorbide mononitrate reduces the occurrence of nitrate tolerance. Nitrate tolerance is when the body builds up a tolerance to the medicine so that it no longer has its desired effect. People taking nitrate-containing medications generally follow a 12 hours on, 12 hours off schedule to avoid this tolerance.
Avatar f tn Yes, a blood test can tell if you have hCG in your system. It could be there from a new pregnancy, or from a retained piece of placenta from the previous pregnancy if the placenta piece still has blood flow in and out of it.
374593 tn?1257879950 ugh, i'm so worried now.. so i finally got a dr apt, well bloodwork, for tomorrow morning (friday) to get a beta.. my belly pain is gone, all cramps gone, finally started feeling like a "normal" person for a little while, bloating went down finally.. then i started feeling horrible tonight.. achy all over my body and chills, temp went up to 100,,(but it felt so much higher!) so took tylenol and its still 99.3 while on the tylenol..
Avatar m tn What would happen if you rubbed pure nitroglycerin on your skin? I'd like to know the symptoms on and below the skin. I know that nitroglycerin is used for anginas, but I also know that it's generally mixed with something else, so I'm curious about how well pure nitroglycerin would work and what it would do. And if you had a vial of pure nitroglycerin, what could you mix it with to be able to use it as ointment?
1490091 tn?1288302132 I had a miscarriage on Sept 10th 2010, I had a D&C done on Sept 15th 2010. It's Oct 28th 2010 and I'M STILL BLEEDING!! Sometime I have blood clots come out!! My doc swears that this is normal and it takes 6-8 weeks for my body to recover after a D&C. Some of the blood colts have been bigger than a golf ball. So I don't know what I should do! Should I give it 2 more weeks and see if I'm still bleeding and passing blood clots, or should I go see the doc right away??
Avatar f tn m not just saying that lol try asuch fruit as possible because u can eat lots of it in one sitting and stay hydrated and remember 7-17 pounds of the weight you gain is baby placenta and blood. And about 5-8 pounds of it is retained water to help circulate all of that extra blood!!
Avatar m tn I would want to rule out any retained tissue within the uterus. I have seen tiny pieces of placenta or membrane cause major problems. I would also run some tests to rule out infection as endometritis can also cause bleeding. If nothing was found, I would recommend continuing birth control or other hormonal therapy for awhile -- not indefinitely. Congratulations and Good Luck!
Avatar f tn c the 15th because of retained placenta. My bleeding stopped the end of sept and period came oct 13th and were normal after that. Sometimes it takes a while for hormones to get ouut of your system.
485554 tn?1255999990 I have an anterior and posterior placenta. I am going in for my c-section tomorrow, so it's very important that they remove the entire placenta as there are two separate pieces to the placenta. Infection is common after having one such as mine, because the doctor is unaware that he maybe leaving a part inside. I'm glad they detected mine during an u/s. Are you experiencing any pains along with the bleeding, outside of the normal cramping? Like burning or any other sensations?
Avatar n tn I have never had that before until I had an emergency D and C surgery to clean out the retained placenta after giving birth to my second child. I am wondering if the surgery had to do anything with this current situation? I have seen my doctor twice but no one knows why. I've had two ultrasounds recently-first showed a cyst on my ovary. Nothing new with that. Second ultrasound revealed a calification in my uterus now, and my doctor wants me to come in for an endomertial biposy next month.
Avatar f tn If you miss a dose of Nitroglycerin Patch, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not use 2 doses at once. When used for long periods of time without a break, some people develop a physical need to continue taking Nitroglycerin Patch. This is known as physical DEPENDENCE. Do not suddenly stop taking Nitroglycerin Patch without your doctor's approval.
Avatar f tn Congrats! I had a rough labor as well. 33 hr, retained placenta that they had to manually extract, anemia which required a blood transfusion, low blood pressure, and one BIG BABY! 9lb 1oz she's totally worth all the complications and pain! Her name is Hannah Grace!
Avatar f tn i was wondering if I still need to wait the recommended 6 weeks to have sex? I did have a retained placenta but it is all cleared now (idk if that would affect how soon you could have sex but just thought I should add that? I'm 2 weeks and 5 days postpartum. I just want some advice or personal experiences not anyone yelling at me telling me to not do it... please and thank you!!
Avatar m tn m a heart patient myself, but no nitroglycerin for me.
Avatar f tn If it takes longer than 30 mins you are at a high risk for bleeding and they consider it a retained placenta and would have to manually remove it in the OR. This only happens every once in awhile. Hope this helps.
501796 tn?1253328394 When my son passed my waters broke and my son was in my pants along with my placenta. I pulled my pants down and my placenta the size of my hand fell on the ground. I thenb realised my son was still in my pants. My son was about the size of your middle finger and he was very much a baby. He had hands, feet, eyes and an umbilical cord and his penis. There is absolutely no way I could miss him for tissue.
