Avatar f tn If you miss a dose of Nitroglycerin Patch, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not use 2 doses at once. When used for long periods of time without a break, some people develop a physical need to continue taking Nitroglycerin Patch. This is known as physical DEPENDENCE. Do not suddenly stop taking Nitroglycerin Patch without your doctor's approval.
572651 tn?1530999357 I have nitroquik - sublingual nitroglycerin - to take if I have angina pains - this morning about 5 am I was miserable and couldn't tell if it was heart or ms symptoms and I took one. As always it stopped my discomfort, depressed my already low blood pressure and I went to sleep for about 3 hours. I've used nitroquik for the past 3 months or so and it always stops the pain and gives me relief within minutes.
Avatar n tn Sorbitrate, Isordil), Sublingual nitroglycerin tablets or spray (Angised, Angispan, GTN spray), Transdermal nitroglycerin patches or ointments (brand names: Top nitro, Nitroderm TTS, Myovin). Nitrates are also found in illicit drugs such as amyl nitrate (poppers). If you are not sure if any of your medicines contain nitrates, or if you do not understand what nitrates are ask you doctor or pharmacist. Penegra (sildenafil) is not approved for use in women.
Avatar n tn is there anything I can suggest to my doctors to look at next, or another drug I can try since the only thing that gives me relief is sublingual nitroglycerin and I go through 100 of those a month ? Thanks for ANY suggestions, I am desperate.
Avatar n tn I was under enormous stress when the pains started and the fear that it was cardiac in origin added to it. I had the nitroglycerin sublingual tablets. I took them, sometimes they helped, other times they didn't. To this day I have no definitive answer as to the cause of my pains, but they seem to have subsided for the past 6-7 months. Try the nitro and see if it helps. My guess is that it won't help indigestion, but would if it was due to vasospasm or other cardiac cause.
Avatar n tn ed is correct nitro dilates vessels. I take a nitrate (isosorbide) for more than 6 years 3 times before going to gym for workout. My blood pressure does not drop between intervals...in fact I was told to have intervals of nitrate free period. It is true, nitro dilates the coronary vessels and prevents angina (chest pain). The patch should only be worn for up to 12 to 14 hours a day, or as directed by your doctor, but continued use with no interruptions can cause a tolerance for drug....
Avatar m tn Different nitrate preparations are often combined. Pills, patches, or paste may be used together with sublingual nitroglycerin to give maximum relief and prevent angina. Some people develop a tolerance to nitrates if they use them constantly over a long period. Tolerance occurs when a medicine loses its effectiveness and may not seem to work as well. A doctor may prescribe a daily schedule of using nitroglycerin 12 to 18 hours on and 6 to 12 hours off to prevent the development of tolerance.
Avatar n tn I am a fit, slim, non-smoker and had a heart attack at age 54, 19 months ago. I had been under a lot of stress for years. I had a 95% blockage in one of my arteries. I received 6 stents, and stayed on lipitor for 3 months and plavix for 6 months - hated the side effects. Now I am only on low-dose aspirin. I have had chest "squeezing" pretty well this whole time following the surgery, but mostly in the last month.
Avatar f tn A couple of weeks ago my cardiologist offered to rx nitroglycerin tabs (0.4 mg sublingual) to help diagnose whether my symptoms are due to ischemia or not. I've used them twice now and am having trouble deciding whether they really helped. What I mean is, my symptoms always go away eventually so how can I tell whether it was the nitro that helped relieve them? The first time was during the afternoon last week when I was having a squeezing heaviness in the center of my chest.
Avatar m tn I'm a Raynaud's Phenomen patients who has the CREST syndrome and i use the nitroglycerin patches to control my raynaud's. Can you tell me if the patches used in this way would cause your acid reflux to be worse. When i took the lowest dose of nitroglycerin patches 0.1 didn't notice any but had to move up and now i do. Will this be something that my body may take an adjustment period for before i notice a different of not having symptoms again?
Avatar f tn Is this true and what is the reasoning behind this instead of swallowing first thing in the morning the whole dose? Of course the doc never mentioned this.
Avatar m tn i'm new to this forum but i do have CREST SYNDROME which i have the raynaud's mainly in my hands. I have tried all kinds of blood pressure pills and when i move up on dose to help it causes more raynauds. I finally was put on nitroglycerin patches and had to be moved up once and now i'm adding ginko to my dose and i have finally saw a change. Not a perfect fix yet but much better. I also take fish oil twice a day for the inflamation.
577700 tn?1217892127 Are you splitting the Armour or taking it all at once? I take Armour in 2 doses. The first dose I swallow and the second dose I let dissolve near my cheek and gums.
Avatar n tn There is no typical cardiogenic chest pain, which is crushing precordial pain radiating to the jaw, arm and neck, relieved with sublingual nitrates. other possibilities for the muscle spasms can be chest injuries, previous chest surgery, possible culprit, any history of athletics, stress fractures , pulled chest muscles. Fibromyalgia is an important condition of chronic fatigue which causes severe muscle pain, with muscle spasms in chest.
Avatar n tn You should talk to your doctor as you may be a good candidate for a low dose nitroglycerin patch which opens the coronary vessels to increase oxygen supply to the heart. How are you currently managing your COPD? What medications and inhalers are you using? are you on home O2?
Avatar f tn There is no benefit to taking this sublingually that I know of. Generally the reason you take anything that way is to get it into your system as quickly as possible or because saliva is beneficial to absorption. With 5-HTP, it takes some time for your system to react to it assuming your body finds it necessary to have more coming in -- if it doesn't, it just evacuates it. The same thing is true when you take medication targeted at serotonin, though they work quit differently.
Avatar m tn I have autoimmune pernicious anaemia and take sublingual B12 spray daily. I've been on B12 sublingual spray for 3 years with excellent results. I have had to up to dosage twice. Started my maintenance dose at 1000mcg, then need to up it to 1500mcg and now i'm currently on 2000mcg daily. On the odd ocassion i've run out of sublingual B12. The first time i did this i started to show up with symptoms, in particular unpleasant body odor and fatigue, in around 2 weeks.
Avatar f tn Starting hormones or adjusting the dose can cause symptoms. Once you settle on a dose and frequency and maintain it for awhile, your symptoms should abate.
Avatar n tn To add, what I suggested is over the counter at any drug store and costs about the same. And I wish this forum had a edit button.
Avatar f tn For decades intramuscular injections of B-12 were the only suitable treatment, but sublingual B-12 (disolving under the tongue - a very vascular area) has been demonstrated as an effective alternative. Generally the initial treatment is one or two intramuscular injections, followed by a daily dose of B-12 sublingually with folic acid.
4274823 tn?1388529098 I am taking a high dose sublingual (under the tongue) vitamin B12 supplement. On alternate days I take a low dose B complex supplement. My doctor doesn't think the B complex is necessary, but the dietitian does. What's your opinion? I did have a B12 deficiency prior to supplementation. The dietitian said B complex is good support for stress. I added that much later.
