Avatar f tn If you miss a dose of Nitroglycerin Patch, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not use 2 doses at once. When used for long periods of time without a break, some people develop a physical need to continue taking Nitroglycerin Patch. This is known as physical DEPENDENCE. Do not suddenly stop taking Nitroglycerin Patch without your doctor's approval.
Avatar m tn The pain lasts anywhere from a few minutes to several hours. I have been prescribed nitroglycerin to take as needed for chest pain and this medicine surely helps. I've had several EKGs and cardiac enzymes done which were all normal. I also had a threadmill/stress test done which was normal. My cardiologist thinks the the probability of me having an occluded/blocked coronary artery is very low.
Avatar n tn I was diagnose with clogged arteries over a year ago. I even had a stent put in because one of my arteries was ecluded. I still had stable angina every time I did some for of cardio activity or is I ate something with sodium. I started using Nitroglycerin patches and even have the pills just in case my angina episode occurs. I had a date and I read online that you can't take viagra and any nitrates cause it can drop your blood pressure really low.
Avatar n tn It is true, nitro dilates the coronary vessels and prevents angina (chest pain). The patch should only be worn for up to 12 to 14 hours a day, or as directed by your doctor, but continued use with no interruptions can cause a tolerance for drug....It is important to have a "nitrate-free" period of time each day for Nitroglycerin Patch to continue to work well and to decrease the risk of physical dependence.
Avatar f tn The first week I had bronchitis. After that cleared, I began having chest pain and shortness of breath. Everyone dismissed my symptoms because I was a young female. I had a hysterectomy in 2009 but they said I still had estrigen to help prevent heart problems. After three weeks of testing (lung vq scan, GERD, and anxiety), a heart cath was done. Cardiologist said I had myocardial bridge (left artery), hypertension, and thick wall.
Avatar n tn You should talk to your doctor as you may be a good candidate for a low dose nitroglycerin patch which opens the coronary vessels to increase oxygen supply to the heart. How are you currently managing your COPD? What medications and inhalers are you using? are you on home O2?
Avatar f tn I was admitted in the hospital for chest discomfort and an abnormal Ekg. I was placed on zocor, Metoprolol and nitroglycerin patch while hospitalized. The first night I wasnt feeling well woke up at 1 am with the sweats and chest discomfort. I was given a blood thinner and other meds I began to feel better in about a half an hour give or take( to where I could get back to sleep). The following day I had the nuclear and echo gram test.
1098952 tn?1270309713 Furthermore, the treatment rationale for HCM can actually counter the rationale used to treat the same suite of symptoms in a patient who does not have HCM. For instance, many HCM patients have chest pain and shortness of breath—a common symptom of coronary artery disease that is treated with nitroglycerin. If a person with HCM were to take nitroglycerin, the symptoms would worsen and the nitroglycerin could even cause a catastrophic deterioration in the person's condition".
Avatar f tn I was in the ER yesterday with chest pain and shortness of breath. I do have benign PVCs. However I am unsure if my EKG was fully normal or not although I am pretty sure it was but what has me questioning it is the fact that I was given 4 aspirin and 2 nitroglycerin pills. My vent rate 126bpm PR interval 152 ms QRS duration 76 ms QT/QTc 306/443 ms P-R-T axes 71 66 47 Are those all normal? I do have high blood pressure lately along with an almost constant high heart rate.
Avatar n tn Is it typical to have intermittent chest pain for the last two weeks since having my proximal LAD stented (coated stent)? I have resorted to nitroglycerin several times with mixed results. Today, I had some lightheadedness and shortness of breath with the chest pain, but a couple of hours later, and 3-4 sprays of nitro it is resolved.
Avatar m tn Now, she is back in the hospital due to chest pain again. The doctors say there is nothing they can do for her and that everything looks good and she will have to live with the pain. The doctors just did an ECG and say all is good. Is this possible? She is on constant Nitroglycerin and Morphine prn. Should she get a second opinion? What other procedures could she have done to take away this pain? She says the pain is getting more frequent and stronger. Thank you for your responses.
572651 tn?1530999357 I have nitroquik - sublingual nitroglycerin - to take if I have angina pains - this morning about 5 am I was miserable and couldn't tell if it was heart or ms symptoms and I took one. As always it stopped my discomfort, depressed my already low blood pressure and I went to sleep for about 3 hours. I've used nitroquik for the past 3 months or so and it always stops the pain and gives me relief within minutes.
Avatar n tn pretty well this whole time following the surgery, but mostly in the last month. I had no chest pain or any warning signs before my heart attacks, except for a little cramping during yoga a few times. I get strong cramping quite often now. I am scheduled for more tests, but extensive testing last year showed everything was supposedly fine. Has anyone heard of this? My concern is that I am headed for another heart attack.
Avatar f tn Myocardial infarction pain is characteristically crushing retrosternal chest pain which may move to arms, shoulder, neck, teeth, jaw, belly area or back. This can be squeezing, lasting for 20 minutes. Rest and nitroglycerin may help relieve the pain to some extent. Other symptoms are anxiety, cough, dizziness, palpitations, shortness of breath etc. your doctor would like to check the cardiac enzymes like troponin and CPK, CPK MB.
Avatar n tn Now I continue to have fatigue, shortness of breath, sleeplessness and chest pain. I wake every morning (for 2 weeks) with a headache above the eyebrows. Do I need further heart evaluation as my EKG and stress test showed normal?
Avatar m tn Will I just eventually get use to just taking a nitro pill when I feel chest discomfort and going on with my life? As I also mentioned before, the CAD diagnosis in 7/2008 gave me a panic disorder “when I was 15, I seen my Dad die in front of me from a heart attack when he was 44.” So anytime I have gotten chest pain in the past 1 ½ years I immediately think I am about to die.
Avatar f tn I have been having chest pain for more than couple of years,it is on and off.It pains when Im stressed or experiencing heavy emotions,it is like a biting pain in chest and leftside back if Im too stressed then sometimes my left arm pains it goes off after sometime.Im 27 male had blood and urine test and ECG checked before but the doc say everthing is normal .
Avatar m tn The same with his recent heart catherization was chest pressure. In the ER he was given 2 nitroglycerin, 5 minutes apart, the chest pressure went away after the 2nd nitroglycerin. Does any good specialist in cardiology think that my husband should have the open heart surgery for bypasses considering the risks regarding his age, his diabetes? I would appreciate very explanatory answers, easy to understand, what to do in my husband's situation. Thankyou.
Avatar f tn I am a heart patient with long time experience of angina, chest pain. When it is angina the chest pain gets worse when you are standing up and moving around. Gets less when you are resting. I take nitroglycerin under tongue for chest pain. If it doesn't go away in 15 minutes then I call my dr or an ambulance and go to emergency room. If your left chest hurts when you go to sleep it is not a typical angina pain. BUT you should check out any chest pain with a doctor.
Avatar f tn m still on Betaloc.I went also for a Stress test which results for ST Depression and also for a CT Coronary Angiogram . Results was Normal Coronary Arteries. Avatar n tn what is the chance of heart attack if the chest pain continue due to coronary artery spasm? can the use if ephedrine cause coronary artery spasm?
805943 tn?1238093647 In March of this year I went to my regular physcian for left arm pain, she did an EKG and called an ambulance. At the hospital I had all the test, blood workup, Echo, EKG, they said everything was fine. They did tell me that my sugar and tryglycerides were too high. They sent me home with prescriptions for Lopressor, Lisinipril, Metformin and Tricor. I had a nuclear stress test done in April and it came back fine too. They took me off the Lopressor.
712042 tn?1254569209 1st 2009 I have had increasing episodes of chest tightening, vasospasm and chest pain only relieved by up to two sprays of nitro. In most episodes it is not brought on by physical exertion but by some other cardiac demand out of my control. The rare but familiar sharp, quick spasms that go up the heart to jaw and thru to the back I assume involve the LAD. The spasming in the microvessels seem to be the chest tightening and SOB that can accompany this.
Avatar n tn not similar to pain before stent inserted. Former pain was in chest, jaw, and arm. Is this heart related or spine ? Usually occurs at night, wakes me up. Very infrequent.
