macrobid

Avatar m tn Oxytoca) is isolated in the urine. It is a urinary tract infection. It also says that the colony count of the bacteris is 1,00,000 cfu/ml. Hence, doctor prescribed some medicines like Uribid with nitrofurantoin in it, Prothiaden M, Montemac FX for allergy and Hifenac-P for fever and also Cital syrup for UTI. My mother continued the course for one week, now fever and tiredness have decreased, but the burning sensation continues.
Avatar f tn I have been experiencing on average one urinary tract infection per month for the past two years. After seeing many doctors and being prescribed different antibiotics, I saw a urologist and had some tests done. My ultra sound was normal, as well as the urinalysis (taken when no symptoms of a uti were present). I then started taking Nitrofurantoin Macrocrystal (a daily antibiotic or taken after sex, also called Macrodantin). The UTIs went away during this time.
Avatar m tn A couple of weeks later I developed a urinary tract infection. Urologist prescribed nitrofurantoin for the infection. Immediatedly after starting the antibiotic my ears gradually starting feeling clogged. Now, two weeks later, they are both very clogged (no wax buildup) and I can barely hear. Logic tells me the ear clogging is somehow connected to the nitrofurantoin. Has anyone ever experienced this or heard of this happening? Will this clogging go away by itself?
Avatar f tn In children without urinary tract infections 17.2-18.5% have VUR, whereas in those with urinary tract infections the incidence may be as high as 70% Age Younger children are more prone to VUR because of the relative shortness of the submucosal ureters. This susceptibility decreases with age as the length of the ureters increases as the children grow. In children under the age of 1 year with a urinary tract infection, 70% will have VUR. This number decreases to 15% by the age of 12.
Avatar f tn Talk to your doctor about this immediately. My understanding is Macrobid has been known to cause problems when taken during late pregnancy: "If you get recurrent urinary tract infections or if the infection gets into your kidneys, your caregiver may recommend taking nitrofurantoin (trade name Macrodantin or Macrobid) for the rest of your pregnancy to prevent another infection.
Avatar n tn I am a 18 year female, and ive been suffereing from a "unrinary tract infection" since november 2008! I have been on 2 courses of trimethoprim since and this has not stoped my pain. I was then sent to a consultant who sent me for a kidney scan and a bladder examination; after these tests I found out that I have "calcification of the kidney". So I was put on Nitrofurantoin for a month but still no real change.
Avatar n tn I had recently went to the doctor for a bladder infection. The doctor said the results came back negative and there was a lot of water in my urine. She asked if i could be pregnant, she then ran a pregnancy test the first one came back positive and the second came back negative. She started me on Macrobid and told me to take another test.
Avatar f tn m a 26-year-old female. I was diagnosed in May with an ESBL E.coli urinary tract infection, after going to the GP complaining of flank pain and typical UTI symptoms. I was given several different antibiotics over the next month or so, all of which did nothing, until I was placed on a two-week course of Nitrofurantoin, which cleared the infection. It did also, however, leave me with nerve damage.
Avatar f tn t fully gotten rid of that original UTI or you are somehow reintroducing bacteria into the urinary tract. The symptoms of a UTI are pretty unmistakable once you've had them so I don't doubt you know that it is 'there' again. By the way, are you male or female and what is your age. (It's anonymous here so you can say).
Avatar f tn You were on antibiotics, which should knock out infection, right? You could also have inflammation of the urinary tract which would result in white blood cells in urine, but bacterial UTI is the most common cause. Some women have Sterile pyuria which is persistent white blood cells in urine without any bacterial infection at all. That's not super common and usually having white blood cells means UTI or kidney issue. They will likely check you for these again.
Avatar n tn Ive had a urinary tract infection for going on 6 weeks now. Ive been treated over and over and nothing seems to be getting rid of it. I dont have a regular dr so I am relying on trips to the er to help me. I am now so sick with the infection that I am throwing up and am in so much pain. I have a very serious history of kidney stones as well which doesnt help much either. I just had my last stone removed about 3 weeks ago.
Avatar f tn Hi, Its is common for patients who have Interstitial Cystitis to have a few real urinary tract infections in the past, then start to have symptoms with no infection in the urine. White blood cells in the urine don't necessarily mean infection and needs a workup if the cultures are negative. A urine culture is key rule in or rule out the infection. If there is no infection by the culture but you still have symptoms you may have IC.
Avatar n tn You may not even have to bring your dog in for an exam if the urine is positive for a simple urinary tract infection (an infection without crystals). The vet can simply give appropriate antibiotics. If your dog has crystals in his urine, the crystals would need to be identified and treatment instituted. Crystals can be dangerous in male dogs because if they become large enough they can become lodged in the urethra and cause blockage (even in dogs, though more common in male cats).
Avatar f tn I’m 20 years old. I have a urinary tract infection(coliform). A doctor prescribed Amoxicillin 625mg + Tamsulosin medicine for 10 days to me. 4251679 tn?1370305531 UTIs are exactly what their name describes. and infection in your urinary tract. its not in your vagina, however, ive always been told not to have sex while you have one because sex could be the cause of it. and its best to make sure its all better before introducing even more bacteria. Ive never heard of it being contagious, and dont think that it is, but ask your doctor. and ive also never had a cream to use, so im not sure what thats for.

Avatar f tn How do you tell the difference between a urinary tract infection and yeast infectiy?
Avatar m tn Factors that can cause urinary blood (hematuria) include urinary tract infections, enlarged prostate, cancerous and noncancerous tumors, kidney cysts, long-distance running, and kidney or bladder stones. Foods. Beets, blackberries and rhubarb can turn urine red or pink. Medications.
Avatar m tn The DICLOFENAC POT 50mg 3x is a new script for me. I just started taking it about 2 weeks ago. About 2 hours after my first dose; the pain and discomfort was completely gone. That, almost instant, effect concerned me; so I looked it up on the manufacturers web site and found it could be somewhat dangerous long term. I decided not to take it 3x and only in the AM. That dosage works for me, because the tendinitis doesn't flare up during the day .
Avatar n tn After confirming the diagnosis of a urinary tract infection through urine tests, antibiotic treatment may be started. A urine culture and sensitivity test will determine the specific organism responsible as well as the antibiotic treatment. Drinking plenty of fluids also help. Take care and best regards.
