macrobid

Avatar f tn short duration course of a basic antibiotic such as nitrofurantoin may be suggested in low grade infection. With the part history of chronic infections, the dose/ duration of the antibiotic may not be irrelevant in the scenario; though in the current situation, treating the primary cause i.e. the fistula may be suggested, to avoid complications.
1009876 tn?1326490077 Update: After a couple days, my infection was back, with a vengeance. The doctor I saw before only gave me 3 days worth of meds and the doctor I just saw gave me 7 days worth. Now I have to go back one day after I'm done my medication to send another sample to a bigger lab. So they can do a culture test. But at least I know this time it will be gone. I'm guessing that the first doctor has never had a bladder infection.
Avatar f tn I’ve been suffering from IC for 5 years now and for some odd reason Nitrofurantoin/Macrobid seems to work well for me, even when my urine culture comes back negative. I take it (100 mg X 2 for 10 days) when my IC flares and within a few days the symptoms are essentially gone. They often come back 3-5 months later, but at least it works temporarily. My doctors have no idea why this medication works, but it’s been working pretty consistently for the past 3-4 years now.
Avatar n tn Take all of your antibiotics & drink LOTS of water. Some people will say cranberry juice, my my urologists says that plain water is always the best. And any time you have to urinate, go! This will help flush the bacteria out of your bladder. The best way to prevent bladder infections is to drink lots of water, NEVER hold your pee for a long amount of time, & always wipe from front to back.
Avatar f tn I have compensated cirrhosis and have recently developed a bladder infection. I am allergic to PCN and Cipro and have been given Nitrofurantoin for 7 days. I am very afraid to take it. Does anyone have any experiences with it or can recommend other meds to take? Thank you for any suggestions!
Avatar f tn I have been experiencing on average one urinary tract infection per month for the past two years. After seeing many doctors and being prescribed different antibiotics, I saw a urologist and had some tests done. My ultra sound was normal, as well as the urinalysis (taken when no symptoms of a uti were present). I then started taking Nitrofurantoin Macrocrystal (a daily antibiotic or taken after sex, also called Macrodantin). The UTIs went away during this time.

Avatar n tn I had recently went to the doctor for a bladder infection. The doctor said the results came back negative and there was a lot of water in my urine. She asked if i could be pregnant, she then ran a pregnancy test the first one came back positive and the second came back negative. She started me on Macrobid and told me to take another test.
Avatar n tn I was then sent to a consultant who sent me for a kidney scan and a bladder examination; after these tests I found out that I have "calcification of the kidney". So I was put on Nitrofurantoin for a month but still no real change. I'm constanlty uncomfortable in the general private area, and the only relief i can get is from being in a steaming hot bath. I now only drink water and dilute non citrus juices.
Avatar n tn When no bacteria is present you still feel the same symptoms as if you had a bladder infection. When you feel the pain, discomfort, frequent urination, etc., it is a sign of a bladder attack. Interstitial cystitis is also known as Painful Bladder Syndrom (PBS). Have you heard of it? This is where the inner membrane on the wall of the bladder starts to deteriorate and it can be very mild in some patients, but very severe in others.
Avatar m tn Hence, doctor prescribed some medicines like Uribid with nitrofurantoin in it, Prothiaden M, Montemac FX for allergy and Hifenac-P for fever and also Cital syrup for UTI. My mother continued the course for one week, now fever and tiredness have decreased, but the burning sensation continues. Is this mixture of tablets fine, or any other suggestion or recommendations for treating this urinary tract infection of K.Oxytoca.
Avatar f tn 5 I booked appointment to my GP this afternoon she tested my urine I have infection little blood in urine she gave me Nitrofurantoin 50mg antibiotics for 7 days, when I walk I feel flow in my vagina I check at home its mix brownish with yellow? Avatar f tn If your history is classic for IC, your physical exam is negative for a pelvic infection or problem, then we often label these patients as having painful bladder syndrome and treat them for IC with no cystoscopy. Start with the urine culture during symptoms to rule out a UTI.
Avatar m tn A couple of weeks later I developed a urinary tract infection. Urologist prescribed nitrofurantoin for the infection. Immediatedly after starting the antibiotic my ears gradually starting feeling clogged. Now, two weeks later, they are both very clogged (no wax buildup) and I can barely hear. Logic tells me the ear clogging is somehow connected to the nitrofurantoin. Has anyone ever experienced this or heard of this happening? Will this clogging go away by itself?
Avatar f tn A week later that continued but with slight burning sensation in bladder after urination which lasts for a while or until my bladder fills up again. I also noticed a warm feeling in penis which can be throughout the day. I had two chlamydia and gonnoreah urine tests done both which were clear and a test for a UTI again which was clear. Doc gave me doxy as he thought it might be NGU. symptoms didn't clear and I was given Nitrofurantoin as doc thought it could be bladder infection.
Avatar m tn thing is, i told my doctor that the bladder infection was coming back within days and they prescribed the same thing. i have been tested for STD's, i'm clean.
519281 tn?1212479788 I recently had a problem similar to this and thought nothing of it, eventually i fainted and when i was rushed into A&E, turned out i had a UDI infection, it's a bladder infection that alot of girls don't realise they have. It's particularly common within girls under 21, and before i was diagnosed i experienced alot of severe burning. This could be affecting your legs aching, also UDI infections can affect your periods. I might not be right, but i'd go get it checked out.
Avatar f tn This is precipitated by a congenital defect/lack of longitudinal muscle of the urinary bladder obliquely and run submucosally for some distance. This, in addition to the ureter's muscular attachments, helps secure and support them the intravesical ureter resulting in an ureterovesicular junction (UVJ) anomaly.
Avatar f tn I took nitrofurantoin for a UTI infection and finished my course on Tuesday morning. Yesterday (Friday), I noticed what appears to be hives (small raised bumps with no redness, they didn’t itch) on my legs. I counted 13 - primarily on my thighs and shins. They appear to be gone today, but after I took my puppy for a walk this morning, I noticed small red bumps on my feet and they itched. Is this an allergic reaction to the antibiotics?
Avatar n tn It came back with a high white blood cell count. They treated me for a UTI and gave me Nitrofurantoin to take 3 times a day for 7 days. The symptoms where much less while on the medication but within 5 days of finishing the treatment all my symptoms where back. I went back to my FP, they did another urine analysis and also a culture, The analysis came back with high white blood cell count, but the culture was negative. They treated me again, for a UTI this time with Cipro.
Avatar n tn I went to a urolgist and he put me on nitrofurantoin-macro. He also scoped by penis to the bladder and found it to be clean on the inside. Still no change. Do I have a virus that will go away or is there something else out there that is worse.? my symptoms are mild to medium discomfort in the penis, no discharge, a dull but persistent low pain in the scrotum. I have not had sex with anyone since this encounter so I am not passing it to another partner. Any thoughts.
Avatar f tn You're very welcome. Anytime!
Avatar f tn I have been taking ciprobid, doxyl and nitrofurantoin for a month now. but still the is no change. I still have some pains. I was diagnosed with an UTI, in the urine and blood test the was no Chlamydia, gonorrhea or syphilis in short no STI. But and the doctor, prescribed ciprobid, doxyl and nitrofurantoin for me and my wife. I have visited the doctor 3times and the last tested I did.
Avatar m tn I had TURP surgery 5 months ago and contracted an infection from the catheters (3). I've been on antibiotics for months and little improvement. I've also got a case of epididymitis (nuts on fire). Current antibiotic is Nitrofurantoin Macro. Urologist told me to come back in 3 months while my health and quality of life *****!!! What are some other options for treatment? Original culture was Coagulese negative Staph.
Avatar f tn I went to see a different doctor again for a second opinion and after a urine test he confirmed there was a bladder infection present. He prescribed some antibiotics (nitrofurantoin 100mg) and said if it doesn't clear up in a week to come back. He also sent out the urine sample for std testing. I'm still a little concerned that I may have contracted some STD or HIV or HPV and that is what is causing the bladder infection.
