1135275 tn?1586565652 the amount of niacin in inositol hexanicotinate is about 85%, If the front of the bottle says 600 mg inositol hexanicotinate, the product should be expected to have about 500 mg of niacin. Upper Limit: Daily doses over 50 mg per day have been associated with flushing of the skin, including reddening, burning, tingling, itching and pain. Starting with a lower dose and then gradually increasing it as may taking the supplement with food.
Avatar m tn Having Chromium and Niacin listed as separate ingredients would not be the same as Chromium Picolinate. Separately, (Niacin would be niacin and Chromium would be Chromium plus one of the chelators). It can get very confusing, but with all of that said, per the National Institute of Health "...given the limited data on chromium absorption in humans, it is not clear which forms are best to take.
Avatar m tn “No-flush” niacin preparations, such as inositol hexaniacinate and nicotinamide, are widely sold as niacin alternatives that do not cause hot flushes. In my experience, however, they simply do not work. In other words, no flush, no effect. The correct dose of niacin depends on what abnormality you and your doctor are trying to correct. To raise HDL and correct small LDL, a dose of 750-1000 mg a day usually provides full benefit.
Avatar m tn Call it mind over matter or whatever but I started taking Niacin and inositol last week. I have felt a steady improvement in my mood and anxiety levels each day. I have been taking a B Complex, 100 mg everyday for the past 2 months. The Niacin I take is 400 mg so that is a 500 mg/day dose. Yesterday I bumped up to 400 mg in the AM and 400 at night. There is definely an improvement that I feel. i am not 100% yet but I feel better than I did a week ago.
1063764 tn?1272821064 I was watching a documentary and heard about a case where a woman was put on niacin supplements for depression. She was taking very large dosages, but it completely pulled her out of her depression. So far fluoxetine has helped me, but I think in time I will need a larger dosage. I would really rather not do that, so my question is: is it safe to take niacin supplements of 100 mg daily plus an extra multivitamin with 20mg. I don't want to end up taking too many vitamins.
Avatar n tn 3) Response to over-the-counter supplements vary from person to person, so the effect of niacin vs. fish oil on your triglyceride level is unknown. 4) There is some evidence that coenzyme Q10 may help with statin-induced muscle pain, but there is not any well-documented studies to support its use.
2019697 tn?1334150247 There is a "flush free" Niacin available. I purchased this flush free with inositol. It is a 400 mg dose that I take twice a day. the B Complex I take is 100 mg. I went off the xanax last Saturday and have been fine. I was only on a very low dose of .25 mg/day at night but was on it for about 2 months. I didnt experience any withdraw symptoms. I would first check with your doctor before trying to go off the xanax and onto a supplement.
Avatar n tn Background: I have engaged a Niacin regimen to cut cholesterol (vs. using statin drugs) because Niacin also raises HDL and cuts LPa and triglycerides (while statins only cut LDL). I have been on this regimen since 2003 and the effect on my cholesterol/triglycerides and LPa has been more than as hoped for. Just as with statin drugs, it is necessary to get regular blood tests (ideally every 6 months) to ensure there is no liver damage.
Avatar m tn I stopped taking statins because of serious side effects and found in books on nutrition that 500mg of vitamin c and nuts as they contain niacin which reduces cholesterol naturally.
3159640 tn?1430907300 I used inositol for several months after reading the scientific article suggesting inositol was found to be as effective as SSRIs. Unfortunately, inositol was not effective in my case and it ended up costing more than the pharmaceuticals.
Avatar f tn carbonated water, sucrose, glucose, sodium citrate, taurine, glucuronolactone, caffeine, inositol, niacin, D-pantothenol, pyridoxine HCL, vitamin B12, artificial flavours, colors. After water, the next 2 main ingredients are sugar. That is certainly not good for you. It won't hurt the baby, as long as you are eating well and this is additional. Then there is caffeine, a number of vitamins and other nutrients, and chemicals. The caffeine probably won't hurt the baby in small amounts.

Avatar m tn I had been prescribed a supplement for the treatment of acne and the salts in that supplement contain myo -inositol, D-Chiron Inositol, Chromium and Vitamin D3 and I have been taking these for 3 months now. I haven't been diagnosed with any PCOS or hormonal imbalance in my reports. Is it safe to take these supplements without any side effects as i read on internet these supplements are used for PCOS treatment mainly.
Avatar n tn ) Before the pregnancy I used to take a folic acid and mio-inositol 2 in 1 product, which for sure helped me.
Avatar m tn I found this interesting podcast from Chris Kresser - RHR: How Your Lipoprotein(a) Level Affects Your Risk of Heart Disease. So from that info find a good quality fish oil. I believe Krill Oil is even better but it's more expensive. There is also niacin (look for non flush niacin) and L-carnitine. And of course look at your diet. You can check out what to eat and avoid on this article from Authority Nutrition: A Paleo Diet Meal Plan and Menu That Can Save Your Life.
Avatar n tn Here's the deal: trypto, found in poultry, cheese, and as a purified drug in finer department stores everywhere, acts to help your body produce more seratonin, which is a kind of "brain juice" that may induce or support a calmer feeling about things. It also helps you make niacin, of all things. You can google it and get all the details, just as you've done.
Avatar f tn The over the counter stuff tends to not work as well, if at all, as the antidepressants. Someone on here is trying Inositol so hopefully we will get some input from her as to whether she is getting relief.
Avatar n tn Unfortunately most drugs for cholesteral like Lipitor and the other, are considered statins, and most statins are not good for the liver. If your cholesteral is still high, niacin is a natural supplement that will also reduce your cholesteral numbers.
Avatar m tn t have enough self control to lose any weight. I had muscle pain and memory loss with statins, flushing and finally facial swelling with niacin supplements. The memory loss was so bad, I sold my veterinary practice and retired BEFORE the lawsuit. I ran for exercise until I wore out my left knee, now I walk. Again, these labs are before any medication.
1814218 tn?1333211905 Any of you ever tried D-Chiro-Inositol or Myo-Inositol  and before going to IVF, if you have taken, which has been the result?. I have PCOS I am planning for a IVF next month and I want to increase the chances naturally. Thanks.
718651 tn?1237042917 I was thinking today of if taking niacin would make the opiate come out of your system faster... i've heard of people taking higher doses to get drugs out of their system to pass a UA.. has anyone tried this?? or do you think it will work??
