Avatar f tn however, my dad said that my blood pressure readings are too high. I wanted to know how to get them down. I stop using salt and use Mrs. Dash and Lemon Pepper to season food. My readings July 18 were morning 136/107, bedtime 147/115; July 19 Morning 136/101, After lunch 148/111 and Bedtime 144/115. This morning it was 141/108. I am taking Junumet for my Diabetes, but I am not on any blood pressure medicine. What are some other ways to bring it down.
Avatar m tn The data are inconclusive and I have never heard of anyone having an increased level of cholesterol due to blood pressure meds. Your LDL is very high and HDL is low, I would considers some lifestyle changes that include diet and exercise as well as a statin to help get these numbers down because high cholesterol and high BP are two modifiable risk factors and both will be benefited by diet and exercise.

Niacin is mostly for cholesterol and the heart and blood pressure, while folic acid is essential to proper nervous system functioning, and is in a balance with B6 and B12, which are especially important for mood regulation, to control homocysteine which in overabundance causes inflammation in the blood vessels.
Avatar f tn ve been taking 250 mg of Niacin. Based on the previous TSH told me to decrease to 150. The last dosage said to decrease to 125 mcg. Is this weird?
Avatar n tn I used to take my beta blocker in the morning with my ace inhibitor, but by mid afternoon, my blood pressure was back up. Doubling my dosage of the ace inhibitor made my pressure too low for the first half of the day, although the evening pressure was fine. Not what I wanted really. So, the dosage was split. I took 2.5mg of ace in the morning, and 2.5 mid afternoon. It took a couple of weeks to settle down, but it worked in the end. It also depends what beta blocker you take. I was on 1.
Avatar n tn Well, when you worry your blood pressure will go up. It feeds on itself. There's a new study out that showed Niacin can reverse stenosis (blockages). The intake was rather high but it's now clinically proven. A statin, like liptor or zocor can also reverse stenosis. If I were you I'd be thinking about all the ways the blockages can be reversed and attack it from all fronts. Medication, niacin, diet, exercise, lose weight if you have to.
Avatar n tn t know much about heart disease or high blood pressure but let me tell you a couple things I know about this medication. Lisinopril is used to control high blood pressure and water retention. Too strong of a dosage can cause diarrhea which can cause potassium to drop low. Losartan - potassium (Cozarr) is used to control hypertension and might be a better fit for your daughters condition as the side effects are similar. I hope this helps.
Avatar m tn valve replacement 2001, redid bypasses. I was on 40mg Lipitor and 500mg no-flush niacin for a number of years with moderate sucess. I subscribe to the Cleveland Clinic Heart Newsletter. In the July 2007 issue there was suggestion that 1,500mg niacin was a good statin supplement. Starting in July 2007 I followed this suggestion, taking 1,500mg slow-release niacin with the Lipitor. I have biannual blood tests.
197575 tn?1215532624 Thanks for the response. Of course at the endo my blood pressure was 136/88 which he didn't think was too high. In July, I looked at my chart and it was 134/92 and he didn't even mentions that my bottom number was too high. He did decrease my meds but what do I do in the meantime? I am calling my primary because hypertension does run in the family. I can't believe it. I looked at my labs from my preop. EKG and my blood pressure was 110/70 which is usually my normal pressure.
Avatar f tn Hi, I had a blood draw in April of 2009 and all of my numbers were perfect accept for my cholesterol was a little high. I was told from friends that Niacin helps as well as fish oil. 646105 tn?1223653476 I am tracking my own blood pressure three times a day and I watch my blood pressure spike about 2-3 hours after taking the Synthroid and go to normal/low by late in the day. I am going off it slowly because going off it too quickly can cause some serious issues with your heart.
Avatar f tn Why is my systolic blood pressure still high when I am taking Altace. My diastolic blood pressure is normal when I take Altace. Why the difference. Could I have angina since I have had pain in my chest around the heart area and in the middle of the chest. Also, could I have arterialschlorsis from the high systolic blood pressure? This discussion is related to high systolic normal diastolic blood pressure?.
Avatar f tn s then it may be getting low. The 145 is actually high. My husband has high blood pressure, so we all take our blood pressure a lot.
Avatar m tn I started taking blood pressure medicine at the age of 26 and also had a hard time adjusting to the medication (I had some of the same symptoms as you except feeling depressed). If your blood pressure has been running high for a long time, you and your body will have to get use to being in the normal range. I think it took me over 2 months to get adjusted, but please go see your doctor to make sure the medication and dosage is correct for you.
Avatar n tn 40 mg is not high, it's the norm. Dosage of Simvastatin ca be as high as 80 mg. I am curious why you are on a statin with a total cholesterol of 160. What s your breakdown by LDL & HDL and do you have any risk factors of CAD currently? Plus, if your script was for 20 mg I would question the pharmacy about receiving 40 mg. Let us know when you can and we can speak more accurately about your dosage.
Avatar n tn I recently stopped the flecainide and have had no significant a-fib that I can discern, although some skipped beats. I do continue to take bystolic and azor for high blood pressure. However, since discontinuing the flecanide, I have had what I would describe as a pounding heartbeat (not rapid), dizziness, and consistent blood pressure readings of 140s/50s.
