That might depend on what dosage you are on. The lower dosage shouldn't show up at all while the highest dose may show up with trace amounts. At any of the dosages the amount of steroid you are getting is so small and the medicine goes directly where it is needed that very little if any can make it into your blood streem.

Believe it or not, I am taking 5 Niacin tablets in the morning and 5 at night for high trigylcerides. I can't remember the strength, but this is what is oredered by my doctor. In addition to that of course I have to take a statin and Tricor. Good news is that Tricor will have a generic out in May. I was also told by my pharmicist that Plavix has a generic coming out in July. Ask your pharmicist if there is a generic of Niaspan due out any time soon.
The past three tests, 7-07, 12-07, and 6-08 showed my cholesterol to be 149, 85, and 57mg. LDL 65, 26, and 16mg. Triglycerides 183, 29, and 36mg. HDL 47, 53, and 34mg. These were dramatic improvements, except for the HDL. I am advised the 'good' cholesterol range is 50-200mg. If mine goes below 50mg in the next test do I have a problem? After the last test, doctor reduced my Lipitor prescription from 40 to 20mg.

I've been on 175 mcg for several years. All tests have come back normal. Lately I've been taking 250 mg of Niacin. Based on the previous TSH told me to decrease to 150. The last dosage said to decrease to 125 mcg. Is this weird?
I'm 18 years old, and I have been struggling for about 3-4 years now with the problem of smelling like farts always. I don't know what the problem is, but it is ruining my life. Everywhere I go or any person I'm near say it smells like someone farted. I'm becoming very anti social and don't want to be near anyone because of the horrible smell I'm causing. I need help and suggestions by people whom have experienced similar problems.
Yeah, what hab63380 said. Just because you pee in a cup everytime does not mean they're drug testing you, its just to check your sugar. They drug tested me my first lab and if its positive, they will do another in the future. If not, they dont do it again. You can always ask your doctor.
Drug tests vary, and many are very reliable...but, I'm going to give you some advice. No addict should be in a relationship (unless married) for a year after they enter recovery. Getting clean is hard enough without juggling a relationship as well. Random drug tests and wondering about her behavior is no way to live.

“No-flush” niacin preparations, such as inositol hexaniacinate and nicotinamide, are widely sold as niacin alternatives that do not cause hot flushes. In my experience, however, they simply do not work. In other words, no flush, no effect.

if you can try the slo release formula and make sure you take with food.. I use and research a lot of alternate treatments.. Niacin has the propensity to flare up causing those exacerbated feelings also your scalp may feel like its on fire too.. You should be ok and if it doesn't go away seek medical treatment ..
I take 65mg Iron pills 2X/day, 250mg Niacin 3X/day. I also take a few other pills where liver and kidney functions must be watched. So far everything is working good! My Iron is still a bit low but we're waiting on the next blood test in three months before we adjust that again.
I take Niacin to lower my cholesterol. In three months my HDL dropped by two points and LDL dropped like a rock to half what it was.
Also, if your tricor is not as effective as it should be, adding 250mg of niacin a day makes a dramatic difference. I had lipid levels over 1000 and sometimes up to 3000 while on tricor for years. After a well informed NEW Dr. told me to add the Niacin, my levels dropped to 130-160 range immediately and never go up. Saved my life! A $5 bottle of Niacin!
