Additionally, I began have duodenal ulcer problems at age 16 and meds were tried over the course of 41/2 decades with little lasting effect, until nexium was prescribed about 15 years ago. Mu ulcer condition has been under control and acid reflux has reduced to a minimum. I recently (3/07) was forced to switch to omemprazole by my insurance carrier and within 2 months noticed an increase in my reflux.
I'm suppose to update him today on how I feel. Been taking Nexium, twice a day for a week now. Worst time is the AM. I'm functioning but not feeling great. My question is weight loss! Four months ago, I stopped synthetic hormones and within a few months lost around 6-8 lbs. With or without hormones, I always struggled with trying to lose those 5lbs! I started having very bad gastritis symtoms about 6 weeks ago.

Pylori), an Ultra sound ( moderate sludge in the gall bladder), a normal Cat scan and a normal upper GI series. My symptoms are very much like an ulcer, with the mornings the most uncomfortable, indegestion and some abdonimal pain. The doctors don't seem to be able to give me an exact prognosis, but just say time will resolve these problems. I am somewhat convinced that this is still gastritis, but either way it seems to take SOO long. It has been 8 weeks since the H.
HI, Nexium is a proton pump inhibitor which reduces acid secretion. It is used in the treatment of dyspepsia, peptic ulcer disease (PUD), gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD). If you want to avoid taking the drug, then lifestyle modification, weight loss and meditation for emotional problems and treatment of depression will be necessary. This will not only relieve the joint and bone pains but also help with the stomach problems and bloating. Hope this helps. Take care and good luck.
About 3 days after these meds, I started to have vaginal pain near the urethral opening, occasional pruritus, no foul odor, no discharge, I took it upon myself to inspect my introitus, and found a single 1 mm ulcer in the vaginal mucosa near the introitus not where the pain is at. The ulcer itself is painless, with a slightly depressed white center, with no increased redness or inflammation surrounding it. Is this all related? Why the constipation in the diagnosis of Crohn's?
I need to take Prosilec for ulcer-related pain, but I've read that ulcer meds like Prosilec reduce the effects of thyroxine. Has anyone had any experience with this? I take 100 mcg daily. How much extra might I need to take?

After years of ulcer pain I was treated for h pylori in the mid 1990's and was symptom free for several years. Last year I recieved chemotherapy for breast cancer (4 doses AC and 4 doses Taxol) ending in May 2009. Last fall I began having terrible stomach pain and nausea which felt like the pain I had with the h pylori.
53 years old. Had two angioplastsy procedures over the last three weeks. Result - 6 drug-eluting stents, 4 in the LAD, 1 in the RCA and one in the Ramus and some angioplastcy in some of the smaller vessels. Very fortunate that there appears to never have been a heart attack. Here's the issue: I have osteoarthritis in the knees and neck and some nerve pain that has plagued me since a bout with Bells Palsy in the right front portion of the neck.
The pain subsided to a dull ache all that week and I have been on Nexium. But burping a lot and sometimes it hurts when I do. Saw a GP today, another EKG - all fine. Some blood tests to wait on now. I seem to feel better after eating. He is unsure - but thinks it could be muscle torn between rib cage and connective tissue behind it. Prescribed brufen on top of nexium for a week longer. If no change, then he'll test for the Helicobacter pylori.
Three days ago I finished my antibiotic treatment (4 medications) for H Pylori. I am still on the Nexium and Carafate. I thought I was improving, but last night was horrible, no sleep at all. The gnawing feeling, diarrhea, and nausea are back. I am back to step one. Do I need another round of treatment? Does the antibiotics stay in the body for a few days, weeks? If I don't improve over the weekend, I plan to call my doctor on Monday.
This morning I was tired and so joined my husband in a cup of coffee and then was overcome with this hollow ache, almost like hunger pains. I am thinking, maybe this is indegestion or maybe an ulcer. I checked out some online symptoms and found that what I have sounds a lot like an ulcer. My question is, does anyone know if this is something that HAS to be treated? I mean, is there some kind of potential emergency here, or can I try some stuff with diet? Does anyone have any suggestions?
I'm guessing that you have tried the other PPI's (Prevacid, Prilosec, Nexium). do you take the Aciphex at least 45 minutes before eating (the docs don't always tell you that)? I'm guessing you have already tried combining them with the H2 inhibitors like Pepcid and Zantac and modifying your diet by not eating (not even water) 4-5 hrs before going to bed, eliminating things like caffeine, alcohol, citrus, tomatoes, chocolate, peppermint.
On the assumption that the cause for my ulcer was an h pylory infection I endured a brutal antibiotic treatment. However, not only said treatment did not cure my ulcer but destroyed my intestinal flora, causing the worst pain and misery I have never felt before. As yourself, I am also 32 years old and totally pissed at my physician, it has been four months of recovery, from aloe vera for my blieeding *** to 80mgs of Nexxium a day had done nothing to control my symptoms.
Start taking Nexium again and QUIT stopping it when feeling good! Reminder to self: Laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) !!
Outpatient surgery is scheduled for the papilloma and nexium 40mg is prescribed for 90 days for the ulcer. Do you agree or might the ulcer be another papilloma?
It has been shown to be effective in the management of duodenal ulcer or gastric ulcer, including those caused by Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori). Both Nexium and Protonix are a substituted benzimidazole proton-pump inhibitor (PPI) that suppresses gastric acid secretion by inhibiting the gastric (H+, K+)-ATPase enzyme pump. Results may vary from patient to patient.
They found that I had hiatal hernia (which I was likely born with), a duodenal ulcer, and chronic gastritis with inflammatory gastric polyps. I understand that gastric polyps is a rare condition.I tested negative for helicobacter, I don't have an autoimmune disorder, and no pernicious anemia. My doctor said it is likely the hiatal hernia may have caused most of symptoms. Would this be correct that my Chronic Gastritis is due to the hiatal hernia?
I did a juice based diet and then shortly after I would experience burning only in the stomach area nowhere else. It didn't travel up the Oesophagus at all. The treatment method was and is still Nexium 40. I take 1 Nexium 40 every 3 days and then obviously repeat this as the stomach acid returns. Now during these 4 years I have gone for the following tests to rule out anything sinister My tests are as follows; 2009 Endoscopy - Clear no abnormality found.
I was diagnosed with Zollinger ellison syndrome. I had one small ulcer and I continued to loose weight and vomit a lot. I got scoped again and in uder a year I had 6 larger ulcers. I had a gastrin level done and it came back a little higher then 1000 so thats what diagnosed me.

I had ulcers but my biopsy and blood tests for HP were negative. Strange because I don't take anti-inflammatory drugs either... Had the HP treatment anyway and it was not so bad, had nausea on the first couple of days but then I was fine. The HP treatment made no difference and in the end I controlled the symptoms with Nexium alone. The worse of the pain went within a few days of using PPI's but it took a few months for complete relief.
I was diagnosed with my first gastric ulcer back in 2003 after having a scope done. Since then, I have had 5 scopes done and now have a total of 3 ulcers (one bleeding back in November of 2006). Biopsies were done and none are malignant or caused by H. Pylori. The doctor could not figure out why I continuously get ulcers so he sent me for a fasting gastric acid test and the results came back that my body produces too much.
as your pharmacist, you doc probably didn't realize this. YOu can use maalox with the nexium or zantac with the nexium for several wks to increase the effects. Stay away from caffinated products and spicey foods and the medications I noted. NO alcoholic beverages either.
I had a scope done and it showed severe gastritis with a small ulcer. I was put on nexium results for H. Pylori were negative. Symptoms improved but only for a couple of weeks. Once again I am vomiting and no appetite. I have lost over 30lbs without trying. 6 months after the first scope I just had another one done. This showed that in less then 6 months I now have 6 large ulcers, but none in the duodenum. Biopsies were negative once again for H. pylori and celiac disease.
