it is different, t has a second release later in the day. My acid reflex is so bad that I have to take the 60 mg. pill twice a day but it works well. No more acid, no more pain. I recommend you discuss this option with your surgeon, but my guidance to patients is to give once or twice daily regimens a try before thinking about this. In addition to a PPI, a H2 blocker like Zantac can be added.

There are also other drugs like zantac, like tagamet and pepcid that may help. Some people take as much as 80mgs of nexium a day for severe cases. Others as little as 20mgs in a.m. with mylanta throughout the day and zantac or tagamet at night. It all differs with which physician each person has. I'm not sure what Lamisil is. The soreness if from the acid which causes inflammation. Hope this helps.
i did have a cyst on my ovary, but i believe it has burst recently. i am currently on nexium 40mg once a day. today, after eating some orzo noodles with olive oil and some mixed vegetables, i had sudden diarrhea. there was no stomach pain or cramping, no burning in the normal areas, and no nausea. nothing has happened since, and it was more loose and watery then anything really and some of it was solid also.
was just wondering if this was normal/common with what i have been diagnosed with.
Hi...I have never heard of that med, but in research see it is used for reflux and gerd jut like the meds I am aware of.
The dr will RX meds for the mgs and dosage ( times per day) per ur symptoms and how much healing u need.....I am on a gerd med and take it twice a day.....
If u also modify ur diet and lifestyle u may heal a bit faster and be able to cut back on teh dosage faster.
My Internal Medicine doctor advised the ulcer is being aggravated by the acid which is causing nausea and pain, the Zantac was not strong enough. She prescribed Protonix 40mg twice a day, I have been on that and feel great; no fatigue, no nausea, no pain! Will be on this regimen for 30 days and then slowly cut back dosage to maintenance level of 40mg once a day every other day.
Well, I can only say that when I had my MI, I could not find a single comfortable position to relieve it. Breathing fast, breathing slow, laying down, standing up, curling up, kneeling down, the pain was intense no matter what I did and lasted for about 20 mins then completely disappeared.
I am now bout 18 weeks post tx and here is my point - for the last week and a half I have only been taking it once a day instead of Twice a day AND considering doing without it except on an 'as needed' basis (not that brave yet).
Hoping this is a positive post tx side effect that you, and others, will have, too.

I am a 37 year old female with a normal weight BMI. I have been on 40 mg Nexium since 5/2017 for GERD and LPR. I started slowly cutting down November 2017. I am currently on 30 mg Nexium and really struggling. I don’t have heartburn or voice issues again, but I have a dull ache between my shoulder blades. It has gotten worse and worse the more I cut down on the Nexium. Sometimes it is almost debillitating and I feel scared of esophagus issues.
My mother has severe GERD and severe LPR. When I read acid reflux conditions are usually due to not enough stomach acid I had my mother try a simple online baking soda test. The results were good enough to ditch the nexium and start betaine HCL with pepsin supplements to increase stomach acid and digestive enzyme supplements to help with digestion.
In three days she started to feel better.
Can you take nexium one day and Prevacid the next? I am struggling to find something to help stop the burning in my chest and back. I started on Prilosec 4 years ago for GERD. When that didn't cover it, I was switched to Nexium. Then my primary switched me to Protonix 40 mg/daily. That worked for the last year. I tried taking Celebrex for a hip problem and that threw my reflux into overdrive! It's been 6 weeks and I can't get the flare under control.
I would like to take my 1 Nexium pill a day pretty soon after I wake up, but I heard that it is best to take these pills at the same time everyday. I usually wake up at 10am, but at least twice a week, I may randomly get up at 7am. In the latter case, should I Take the pill around 7-ish, or just wait the 3 hours?
onyl thing that came was on the ensoscopy they saw tons of bile and diagnosed me with bile reflux with gastritis
i was put on carafate pills ive tried 4 times a day 3 times a day and 2 times a day..for a while i was on 2 times a day but still felt burning but got by..then over this past summer it got worse i up it to 3 and it got somewhat better
i went to a different specialist because of a disagreement i had with the previous one since seeing the new guys he has tried me on other ppis..
ve never tried Domperidone, but the only meds that helped me were Nexium or Kapidex taken twice daily. I tried prevacid and it was very brief because it just didn't work for me :(
Also, I use to take one Kapidex/Nexium PLUS some Amitriplyn, but I knocked the amitriplyn out of my regimen. Either way, it offered more good days then bad.
After, I was able to stop taking the medicine and had no issues for 3-4 years. Then symptoms started to return. This time, I was put on Nexium (twice a day, before breakfast and dinner). The nexium seemed to help, but really reduced my appetite. I stayed on that for 1 year and then slowly began reducing until I was no longer taking it. That only lasted 3-4 months before the symptoms started returning.
