I was diagnosed with Barrett's in 2006, and have been on Nexium (40mg) daily ever since. Fortunately, the Barrett's has healed completely, but I am concerned that continued use of Nexium may result in loss of bone and eventual hip fracture. I take calcum, vitamin D, (and other supplements) and exercise regularly, but I can feel my bones "thinning down" (fingers and toes). Is there anything else I should be doing to keep my bone strength up?
I am sure decreasing the excess weight even by 10 pounds would help matters. Excess weight increases pressure on organs.
You probably should make a better effort to eliminate the junk COMPLETELY and get more active.
I have heard this from patients who have problems with their sugar levels that they feel "better" when they eat the junk (usually it is something HIGH in carbs, fats and/or sugar) vs. when they try to eat healthy.

I’m weak, can’t sleep much, my knee, shoulders, knock, elbows hurt all the time, and I have chronic issues with tendons in my feet. My doctor just acts like there’s nothing he can do and that’s just life. I went off nexium for 6 weeks recently, but the heartburn was excruciating and wouldn’t go away with tums or Gaviscon. I just relented three days ago and took another nexium. I never had heartburn before starting nexium except when pregnant.
I was wondering if anyone has ever tried Nexium (for over acid production). I infrequently have stomach pain, pop a nexium, and its like a magic bullet. Not only cures the pain, but I have the best dreams and generally well being feeling. I was thinking that the stress of life leads to acid production and that the nexium fixes (tricks) the brain into thinking more positive thoughts or whatever, thereby stopping the cycle of stress and acid production. Anyway, it really works well for me.
My friend has hep C with mild cirrhosis. The Nexium he is taking is giving him awful cramps (proven by discontinuing the Nexium). Can ranitidine be used safely with a damaged liver?

Now, my question is, Is it ok to become dependent on Nexium? Like everyday, I must take 1 capsule? Nexium healed me, but i have to take everyday, I don't know when to stop. Is there any side effects if everyday im taking it? I'd rather to become dependent than experiencing GERD for the rest of my life. Thanks.

Since he has been on the nexium he has gained 20-30lbs and is now feeling bloated and worse than before. I just do not know what to do about this anymore. I do not know what it could be caused from. If maybe I could get a diet for this type of thing so i knew what kinds of foods that would be best for his stomach and or a better diagnosis. Could this be IBS? We will be following up with a G.

hello , i have plm with burp , it hard to get burp . i take nexium wont work , what i do ?
Has anyone else experienced only nexium working? I have used all other medicines and they don't seem to work, but now my insurance company wont pay for it.

my insurence does not pay for brand Nexium. Only brand Nexium works. The company who makes Nexium will ok brand if I have a rejection from my Ins. Co. I called my Ins. co and they said that the do not send papers out that they do not pay for brands. How can I resolved this problem?

Hello, I am 16 turning 17 in May. I started taking Nexium in 2013 in August. I have a severe case of Acid Reflux. My esophagus is mildly burned. I have no ulcers. Ever since I was 5 I had acid reflux disease for years we couldn't figure it out neither could my mom she just thought I had bad morning stomach aches until she became an EMT paramedic in 2010, ever since she figured it out we've been looking for medicine to help.
ve had acid reflux for about 10 years - started taking aciphex, then switched to prilosec, and now have been taking Nexium for 5 years or so. By taking one of those magical pills each morning, i'm able to eat anything and feel great. But if i forget to take a pill, i'll feel it (usually about 35 hours without taking a pill).
I recently met with my primary care doctor, and he said it was dangerous to be taking Nexium long-term, every day. Is this true?
Nexium is safe to use long-term.....I have used it on and off for about 10 years now. I am going through menopause myself.
You also should include life style changes if not being done already.
I have had endoscopy, colonoscopy and ultra sound as well as blood work and everything comes out normal. I have tried Nexium, Asiphex and most other acid inhibitors but none seem to really help. I have been taking Nexium daily for about 4 months since it is the only one that gives me a little relief, but over all I constantly feel sick.
Here's what happened. I met up with a couple (gay) that I know. We messed around (all three of us) for a bit, then one left to go to sleep, leaving just two of us. My friend used a dildo on me, one of which he uses on his boyfriend. He did wash it, though I am not sure how, I just know that water was used, unsure if soap was.
