so im trying to get off nexium so i bought some dgl the exact one i got is dgl ultra by enzymatic therapy german chocolate flavored each tablet is 400mg i wanted to know what other peoples dosage habits are like with dgl whats the max you should take..what dosage do you take that seems to help anything else i should know?

Is anyone out there taking Teva's version of Nexium? I'm to the point now where I can't get the brand. I was astonished to see that this generic version's co-pay through my insurance is so high! $80 for 90 days. I could understand this price for the brand, but for generic? Anyway, I had tried this version as I had to with my last insurance, it and I didn't do as well on it. I tried it for a week. I an wondering if it was just my imagination.

My question is how long can I safely take Nexium 24 and at what dosage. I realize this is not going to be medical advice for a Dr but I cant' imagine 2 weeks on the purple pill (Nexium 24 advice to see a Dr post 2 weeks) is going to help many folks with moderate to severe LPR. Sounds like some folks have been on Nexium for years under a 40 mg prescription.........when/if I start feeling ok again after resuming taking the medication how long should/can I continue on it?

Anyone out there on Protonix? I was diagnosed with acid reflux and was put on Nexium which helped slightly with my burping but I was still getting stomach aches. I went for an abdominal ultrasound, endescopy and CT scan with IV contrast and all came back fine. My Dr just switched me to Protonix.

As I have a list here of s/e that can happen with Nexium. What dosage were you given 20mg or 40mg per day? a for how long did you take it for?

I have been taking 1 Nexium, 40 mg in the morning, for about 5 years. I don't have a burning sensation in my throat, but I get hoarse and a lot of mucous. Before it was diagnosed, I felt like I was choking at night and lost a lot of sleep. I would really like to get off this medication for the same reason a lot of people do: we're concerned about how it affects our digestion.

My doc prescribed me 40mg nexium for the next month to see if it helps with my reflux. He told me to take it with food since the stomach cells need to be active (food activates them) for most benefit. That is in complete contradiction to the label, which says to take it 1hr before eating. I have taken other PPIs and they also suggest the 1hr before eating rule.

It is possible that meds u took for ur stomach issue could have flared up the reflux. It is important to get back on the proper diet and u may need to take extra meds for the reflux....but do talktour dr to get the proper dosage. Maylox or tums in addition to ur nexium may help.

ok so i found out i was pregnant on the 15/11/10 im only just 4 weeks but iv had acid indigestion now for bout a week has anyone else had it this early ?????iv never suffered with it ever b4 but just now its driving me MADDDDD !!!!!!!!!! i dont suppose it helps that i feel nauses am not actually up chucking yet so prob when i do it may relieve it a little what do you guys think????

Hello, I had 2 iv contrast CT scans done within a months time June 13 and July 12. On my 2nd scan I had a delayed reaction of itching, redness on the skin of my eyebrows and nose plus a red goosebump type rash below my breastbone. I took benadryl and the redness cleared up within a day and the rash is almost gone. On July 14th I started to feel like there was a lump in my throat and took more benadryl which helped but made my throat really dry.

The ultrasound came back normal and my upper endescopy showed Grade A Reflux and Gastritis. The Dr gave me Nexium, but I was still getting upper stomach pain and pressure in the chest an back. I was switched to Protonix and it seemed to help with the upper stomach pain right under the breastbone. I'm taking two pills a day. Does anyone know how long Protonix takes to work? I was told that some PPI's could take 4 to six weeks to take affect.

I am on plavix also and was taking nexium for gerd. My cardiologist told me to go off the nexium because the FDA has found that the nexium or any of the PPI's inhibits the plavix from working properly. I am now on pepcid instead of nexium. I am curious to find out if your cardio's had mentioned this to you. Protonix is in the same group of PPI's as nexium. Google plavix and ppi's or go on the FDA website. You will read a lot about the two meds. Just for your info.

I continued with the 80 mg of Nexium until around the middle of February and discovered the Nexium can cause chest pain. When I cut back the Nexium to 40 mg. a day, the chest pain stopped. But now, the reflux is back with a vengeance. I am pretty careful with my diet. My question is: Could the Nexium have stopped working? I am now experiencing pain when I swallow, pain just below my sternum and lots and lots of reflux (but not a lot of acid but I do get a burning throat on occasion).

hi just a question about steroid use. I dont have MS but was recently diagnosed with Autoimmune Encephalitis after having a brain biopsy 3 weeks ago. Several months ago I was on IVIG which really didn't help my symptoms, so now I'm going to try a trial of prednisone. My neurologist wants to start me on 60mg then slowly taper my dosage. I'm so nervous because I've been reading all the side effects to this large of a dose.

I am experiencing severe pain from my chest through to my back. It feels like spasms and is difficult to breath. I normally take nexium on a daily basis; however I missed my dose of that too. t noticed much with the mouth but i will now be paying close attention. I have taken Prilosec, Nexium, Aciphex, and Prevacid up to twice a day at the max dosage. I recently had an eye exam but the doc just said i had dry eye and would need glasses when I hit my 50's. Not real helpful.

Thanks for the advice. I feel better now after the doctor gave me the max. dosage for Nexium, but the thing is i'm starting to have headaches, one of the side effects i guess? The abdominal pain lessened, but the back pain still persists. I'm not that sure though if it's because of any internal organ malfunction.
