Nexium for stomach

Common Questions and Answers about Nexium for stomach

nexium

Avatar m tn I was wondering if anyone has ever tried Nexium (for over acid production). I infrequently have stomach pain, pop a nexium, and its like a magic bullet. Not only cures the pain, but I have the best dreams and generally well being feeling. I was thinking that the stress of life leads to acid production and that the nexium fixes (tricks) the brain into thinking more positive thoughts or whatever, thereby stopping the cycle of stress and acid production. Anyway, it really works well for me.
Avatar f tn If maybe I could get a diet for this type of thing so i knew what kinds of foods that would be best for his stomach and or a better diagnosis. Could this be IBS? We will be following up with a G.I. some time in the begining of next month but with most of the doctors we see they do not care to look further into this and just listen to his symptoms and give him whatever and send him on his way.

Avatar f tn My Dr believed I had gastritis related to Naproxen. I was treated for 30 days with losec, no real improvement and then 30 days with Nexium and not much improvement. My symptoms has lessened, but not gone completely away. I have been under a fair amount of stress this year for various reasons and I'm also a big worrier at the best of times, so I believe that is contributing. I was lucky enough to get into see a gastroenterologist yesterday. The next appointment was in October!

Avatar n tn In late November (during period of intense stress from approaching Law School finals and other life worries) I got some recurring sharp pains in the evening accompainied by a general sense of weakness that after a few hours led me to go to the emergency room. My tests came back o.k.: EKG, enzyms, chest x-ray. They told me it was atypical chest pain that was stress related and that I should just rest and eat properly. I was freaked out for a few days after that.
Avatar f tn Hello, I am 16 turning 17 in May. I started taking Nexium in 2013 in August. I have a severe case of Acid Reflux. My esophagus is mildly burned. I have no ulcers. Ever since I was 5 I had acid reflux disease for years we couldn't figure it out neither could my mom she just thought I had bad morning stomach aches until she became an EMT paramedic in 2010, ever since she figured it out we've been looking for medicine to help.
Avatar m tn He put me on Nexium 40mg twice a day for the reflux, but he never told me what was causing the pain when I wake up in the morning. I do have bad disc in my lower back, but I don't know if that would cause this pain. I have been TRYING to eat right , but it hard. I just wish I knew what is causing this pain. Any ideas or answers would be appreciated.
Avatar m tn I know that there are some Doctors that prescribe Nexium (or other ppi) for those that are taking NSAIDS regularly and are having stomach discomfort. My question is two-part. What problem is the NSAID creating, and what is it that the Nexium is doing to counteract it? Thank-you, Patrick R.
Avatar m tn Thanks for your reply, we've talked before. I agree with all you have said, and have tried it all. I mean ALL. My problem is that at times my system doesn't produce enough acid, and sometimes too much. Numerous doctors have given up. It just goes in never ending circles. Ulcers flare and then settle down and it's when it all 'flares' that I decide life isn't worth living and desperately try something new.
Avatar m tn 2013 March - They found that I have H Pylori infection and treated me 3 times with nexium antibiotic treatment. Still the sensation of sqeezing in stomach, heart or chest pain existed and still continuing.Endoscopy and Colono scopy were done and everything looked normal. Continuing Nexium treatment.Fatty liver and fatty pancreas diagnosed. 2014 March - Endoscopy, CT Scan and Ultra sound were done. Results say Gastric antrum mild chronic inflammation, fatty liver and pancreas.
Avatar f tn After suffering from ibs symptoms for about 6 months I ended up in outpatients at the hospital one day with severe stomach pain. Another heap of test and they sent me home with a script for nexium and mylanta. Slowly the symptoms subsided but have continually come back worse and worse every time. I have just had a full blood work including thyroid and gastroscopy! But all was fine. Except my b12 levels.
Avatar f tn t taken Nexium and the last week started taking Metamucil. I am now worse than when I was taking Nexium. I am extremely tired and don't know what else to do. I have maybe 1 night each week where I sleep until 6am, but that is nowhere near my normal of 8 or 9am. I have been under a lot of stress at work since March and I know that can flare up symptoms of bowel disease, but at this point I think I need to see a Gastroenterologist due to my PCP not really taking this seriously.
Avatar f tn I have had gerd plus a hiatal hernia for years. I take nexium and have for at least ten years. Now I am told I have iron defiency anemia. Reading through the insert that comes with nexium it appears this drug could cause the anemia. Has anybody experienced this?
Avatar m tn For the past year I have been having pains in my stomach that goes from the right side to the left side under my rib cage. I wake up with it every morning. I have been to my GI doctor for a Endoscopy and he said, I had GERDS and Barretts Esophagus and put me on Nexium 40mg twice a day. Then I had a Colonoscopy and he said, I had Diverticulitis, which was something I never had before. He never told me how I got it or what to do about it or even if that was what was causing the morning pain.
Avatar n tn My mother suffered severely from Gastric Esophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) and Laryngopharyngeal Reflux (LPR) for 5 years, gastritis for 25 years (worsened on nexium) and polyps (unknown time); polyps cut out. Was on and off tagament for 20 years; nexium for 5 years. Side effects were numerous and life threatening. The drugs were not working well and eventually not at all.
Avatar m tn I have GI appointment at the end of the month. Is it possible to have a stomach ulcer for 6 months?
Avatar f tn i am 17 years old and i have had acid reflux for all my life and i used to take nexium for it. but lately i have been getting more than the usual nausea. lately especially i have been getting a sharp shooting pain in my stomach, it feels almost like a stabbing pain. It lasts for only about 30 minutes...but while i have the pain i always get really dizzy and i cannot see what is in front of me. What does this mean?
Avatar f tn My mother never had the rebound effect. She was on acid blockers for 25 years (tagament for 20 years, nexium for 5 years and also took gaviscon for 10 years). I took my mother off nexium and gaviscon cold turkey and started digestive enzyme supplements and betaine HCI with pepsin supplements in their place. She never got worse only better. She no longer suffers GERD, LPR and is 95% improved with gastritis.
Avatar n tn I started eating healthy and it took about 1 year for me to get this under control. The nexium and prevacid did nothing for me, about 2 weeks ago my symptoms came back and I understand what your going thru. I am on a bland diet just to start.
Avatar f tn I apologize in advance for the long post but I want to give the full details in hopes of finding some answers. Back in December, I finally broke down and had an upper endoscopy done. I had been suffering with difficulty swallowing for nearly two years, but had been terrified of the endoscopy and convinced myself the trouble swallowing was anxiety related. I was diagnosed with Grade 2 esophagitis and gastritis, as well as an esophageal ulcer and 2 stomach ulcers.
Avatar n tn Hello, I am a 29 year old female, 5’5, 106 lbs and have been experiencing some GI problems for the past 6 years. I have been having on-and-off symptoms like globus hystericus, trapped gas in the throat and chest area, gag reflexes, and nausea. Almost every day, I would get this tightness or pressure in my throat, which makes it difficult to swallow liquids or solids. I would have to tilt my head back to swallow.
Avatar f tn I have been on Nexium for 4 years I just stopped taking It only because my medicaid no longer covers It. And I just started doing reserch on the Nexium because of medical issues I have came down with since I been on Nexium. I have eye problems with very blurred vision. Bone and joint pain, had MRI And It showed buldging disk in my neck a bad disk in my upper back,And my spine is full of bone spurs. I came down with all of this just since I been on the Nexium . Oh!
Avatar n tn If you have had a vagotomy, taking Nexium is not advised, A vagotomy reduces acid production and the Nexium also reduces acid production. My advice, having gone through the same surgery ,is to stop taking the Nexium, which by the way is not recommended for use more than 14 days. Take a fiber supplement mixed with water and a teaspoon of cider vinegar before every meal . If you should have occasional acid stomach symptoms, take regular Tums.
