Common Questions and Answers about Nexium and stomach upset

nexium

Avatar n tn Where are the pains exactly? I'm having intense stomach pains from the top of my naval to the top of my stomach and they are refrerring it to GERD (Acid Reflux Disease). I'd go see your GI and see if they can do an upper endoscopy on you. I'm going in on the 3rd to for one to see if I have GERD or a peptic ulcer. Drink a lot of water and a very bland diet (toast with peanut butter).
Avatar n tn I already had the endoscopy and nothing was found. I have GERD and that is what the Nexium was prescribed for. I do not have any "heartburn" whatsoever. A gastric emptying scan was also done and was negative. With all of those tests done I still have what I would basically describe as a “raw, hungry, slight nausea” feeling most of the time.
Avatar f tn I am 83 and take Sildenafil once a week before breakfast and sex. I usually have an upset stomach for 1-2 hours after. It's the price I pay for sex.
Avatar n tn I have had two A-Fib episodes and both had to due with an upset stomach, Once after I vomited and the other time after I ate way too much!
Avatar n tn Hello all I am so overwhelmed with GERD! Currently I am on Nexium twice a day plus Maalox and still have symtpoms. My throat and nose are burning. My stomach is upset and can't seem to eat anything! I have been reflux problems for about 4 years now and it has NEVER been this bad. Sometimes food seems to be stuck in my throat/chest. On top of all theses symptoms I am extremely tired and have joint pain.
194838 tn?1303428544 Hi, I am taking Glucophage (slow release Metformin) and have just been prescribed Januvia to take also. I have had stomach pains and upset stomach since being on them, the plus side is that I have lost weight so am very happy about that but wondered if anyone else has experienced the stomach pain and if so how long did it take for it to subside. If anyone has any advice etc I would be so grateful.
Avatar m tn social stuff it looks good and then i feel - what for?
Avatar f tn s ability to absorb vital nutrients and this will affect your health. You also need stomach acid to kill off bacteria, fungi and parasites. Nutrients that are malabsorbed due to insufficient/lowered stomach acid include: calcium, vitamin B12, iron, magnesium, selenium, zinc, folic acid, vitamin A, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin B6 and vitamin E. Nexium is a short term drug only.
Avatar m tn This initally had good results, but I have evolved into mild constipation and the stomach distress and gas seems to be escalating again. I am taking 300mcg Synthroid, 5mcg Cytomel, daily, vitamins, one HCL and a Digestive enzyme with each meal. I feel pretty good with current thyroid regime, though I do need 10hr of sleep to feel normal, it takes awhile to get going am, and still feel moody. I eat well, lots of veges , cooked and raw, fruit, low meat intake, lots of water.
Avatar f tn She was on acid blockers for 25 years (tagament for 20 years, nexium for 5 years and also took gaviscon for 10 years). I took my mother off nexium and gaviscon cold turkey and started digestive enzyme supplements and betaine HCI with pepsin supplements in their place. She never got worse only better. She no longer suffers GERD, LPR and is 95% improved with gastritis. If you don't want to go cold turkey you could try taking digestive enzyme supplements and wean off nexium more slowly.
Avatar f tn Husband in week 5 of HepC treatment. Very upset stomach... Any ideas on how to calm his stomach down?
Avatar f tn He has had very bad stomach problems since we met 2 years ago and now is just getting worse. He has been having problems such as: Massive amounts of heartburn, bad indigestion, throwing up at times ( no blood ) and also always has gas 90 percent of the day. He followed up with his doctor on this and I do not think they did the right thing by giving him Nexium. Since he has been on the nexium he has gained 20-30lbs and is now feeling bloated and worse than before.
Avatar n tn If you have had a vagotomy, taking Nexium is not advised, A vagotomy reduces acid production and the Nexium also reduces acid production. My advice, having gone through the same surgery ,is to stop taking the Nexium, which by the way is not recommended for use more than 14 days. Take a fiber supplement mixed with water and a teaspoon of cider vinegar before every meal . If you should have occasional acid stomach symptoms, take regular Tums.
Avatar m tn The treatment method was and is still Nexium 40. I take 1 Nexium 40 every 3 days and then obviously repeat this as the stomach acid returns. Now during these 4 years I have gone for the following tests to rule out anything sinister My tests are as follows; 2009 Endoscopy - Clear no abnormality found. Biopsy Normal 2010 Colonoscopy - Clinical Notes were ( Mucosal Erythema terminal ileum) that was explained to me as slight inflammation within normal limits.
Avatar n tn I think the confusion about all of the PPIs, including nexium, is that most docs prescribe PPIs without a lot of testing and without that testing it's possible that if someone feels better taking the nexium and stays on it longterm without any testing being done, it could end up masking a more serious problem - like stomach cancer.
Avatar f tn t take aspirin or any NSAIDS as they too have upset my stomach and make me sick. My symptoms have gotten drastically worse in the last two years. Originally my Doctor and I thought it was just stress because I lost my husband to suicide and months later I lost my son to cancer but my symptoms were persistent. I started having diarrhea badly and vomiting almost daily. I had a scope done and it showed severe gastritis with a small ulcer. I was put on nexium results for H. Pylori were negative.
Avatar f tn nexium and prilosec are both PPI's therefore they make less stomach acid causing slower digestion of food...causing slower metabolism...thus gaining weight i would reccommend maalox max or maybe TUMS but try full strength...if those dont work then stick to your meds...
Avatar f tn Hello! I have been suffering from nausea and stomach burning for about 5 months, I have taken upperendoscopy in China once and recently moved to the US, the test is not carefully done and they didn't do a biopsy though. In us I have taken a blood test and abdominal ultrosound which is normal, then i took another endoscopy which shows mild gastritis and i am still waiting for biopsy result. My neasea is extremely severe and never go away even for one day during this 5 months episode.
974371 tn?1424653129 00 AM with an upset stomach and it just progressively gets worse. I seemed okay yesterday and woke up again today sick, took my meds and am still sick!! My doc said I should not go to the ER but what do you do if nothing you have at home works? Why is this getting worse? I can't even function like this and the Holidays are coming and expecting family here, etc. I just feel they must be missing something. I am just miserable and so uncomfortable now almost daily.
Avatar f tn I have been having really bad heartburn and a burning feeling in my stomach. I was told to take Nexium but I have a severe allergy to penicillin. My question is, can I take nexium if I'm allergic to penicillin?
Avatar f tn Thank you so much, really appreciated!
Avatar f tn Worry and anxiety are expressed in the stomach and gut.You might ask your Dr. to give you a short stint of benzodiazapines and see if those help.So you have had an endoscopy and negative? Colonoscopy? No hietal hernia found? The SSRIs can cause anxiety themselves. You must find one with a metabolite that agrees with you. I tried Prozac and Zoloft . Zoloft was origially marketed as a weight loss drug. I lost weight on both because they made me nervous and upset my STOMACH.
Avatar m tn Im here on behalf of my girlfriend who recently started to take nexium for her stomach pains. She has been very hot at random times and has been nauseas at night. Her period was suppose to start yesterday but it has not yet and we are not sure as to why it has not. She had one episode of cramps this morning but it was very short and ended soon after. I was reading "Lilalee" 's post and what she said about her problem with nexium and her symptoms are very similar to my girlfriends.
Avatar f tn Hi, I just switched from Prevacid to Nexium and within two days started to have dark stools. Have had an endoscopy, CT scan of my abdomen and also a ultra sound on my stomach. Nothing has turned up to be a problem but still the dark stools. I would appreciate someone commenting if they've experienced the same with Nexium, "the little purple pill". Thanks.
Avatar n tn Im 34 and in great shape, lift 4-5 days per week, low blood pressure 120/80 / 110/70 with a total cholesterol of 175. I've been on nexium for 2 years from messing up my stomach from vicodin and coffee. The last year I've been experiencing constant belching and bloating in my stomach after certain foods but staring to belch a lot after all meals. I'm now experiencing my heart skipping beats during my belching bouts, and when I go out and drink alcohol.

2001101 tn?1331494740 Also, I use a heating pad (I find the rice packs work best), and heat it up in the microwave, and then put it on my stomach--this helps as well. Lastly, hot baths help me. I hope you feel better soon!!!!
Avatar m tn s has healed completely, but I am concerned that continued use of Nexium may result in loss of bone and eventual hip fracture. I take calcum, vitamin D, (and other supplements) and exercise regularly, but I can feel my bones "thinning down" (fingers and toes). Is there anything else I should be doing to keep my bone strength up?
