Common Questions and Answers about Nexium and pregnancy

nexium

I am trying to get pregnant and are on Nexium. I asked my Gastr. doctor if Nexium was safe during pregnancy. He told me it was fine people take it all the time when they are pregnant.
I recently went to my drs office and mentioned that I was feeling nauseated again at 36 weeks. He stated that it's due to indigestion and I brought up how I used to be on an acid reflux medicine called protonix before getting pregnant but discontinued use of it after finding out. I've been feeling horrible but I'm iffy about taking it. anyone ever taken nexium during pregnancy?
I asked the doctors in the ER if nexium is safe to take during pregnancy, and both OBGYN doctors at the hospital said yes, since it is a part B drug it is SAFE to take. Yesterday however, I had a visit with my OBGYN who is completely against nexium, prilosec or any other drug except for zantac. I tried taking zantac, but I do not feel any relief whatsoever. I consulted pharmacists and other doctors who clearly state that it is safe to take nexium during pregnancy.
I used Nexium during my entire pregnancy with my DD and everything was fine. My doctor said it was fine. I did not take it everyday like I did before I was pregnant, I just took it if I had to have it to eat, like you mentioned above. My DD is just fine and has no problems with acid reflux or any of problems at all. Again I would ask you doctor, but I am also taking it with this pregnancy and I am 13 weeks along. I hopes this helps. I know every doctor and situation is different.
You can get gluten free vitamins and supplements, and it is important that you take them and that they are gluten free. Your ob doctor will test you regularly once you are pregnant for your blood count and other important levels. If your period is irregular it may be difficult for you to conceive. It is possible that it could be evidence of impending menopause, but is more likely to be related to your weight and gain.
My gastroenterologist took me off nexium and put me on tums 1-3 4xs day for severe heartburn whe I got pregnant. It helps. Also eat small meals, no spicy or chocalate, coffee and never go to bed less then 2 1/2 hrs after eating. If you have to sit up and sleep in bed. That's what I do.
I have been on many different meds while pregnant most related to a herniated disk in my back. I can tell you from experience that in moderation it is safe. Trust in your doctor as long as they are aware of the pregnancy, they will reference "Drugs in Pregnancy and Lactation" which gives the category for all meds and possible effect.
I usually take some tums with a little bit of milk and make sure I sit up afterwards. I have severe nausea too and the heartburn always makes me get sick again. It's common in pregnancy... but I know how bad it *****!
I take Lisinoprel for high blood pressure, zoloft and Nexium. I also have been having light hot flashes on and off for a couple of months. My question is, what are my chances of becoming pregnant.
I am on long term Nexium (40 mg/twice daily) and Amitriptylin (25 mg/once daily) with Ativan (0.5 mg) only when necessary for Nausea. I just recently realized that I am 7 weeks pregnant, something that was unplanned and unexpected since I had problems with ovulation and was under the impression that pregnancy could only occur with ovarian stimulation or specialized intervention.
i have had a tubaligation 10 years ago ,,, i missed my period for 2 months i did a urine and blood test that came out negative... i finally got my period but i am still having loss of appetite, nausea, dizzy and always tired... could i be pregnant if so is there another test that i would need to do to confirm that i am not ...

It feels like a pressure there like if you put a finger there and put pressure on the throat. I was told by the nurse this is from the hiatal hernia and it might get worse with pregnancy. Is this correct? I thought it was due to my allergies. I have felt this with post nasal drainage which usually will go away in a couple of days or resolves with swallowing or eating. This comes back after eating. If I don't have much food in my stomach, the feeling is not as intense. When eating, it is fine.
I have been taking Prilosec OTC and my Doctor prescribed Nexium. It seems to me that they are the same, with one being extremely cheaper. I am Beginning my fifth month of pregnancy and I would like to know if it is safe to continue taking prilosec otc.
D for severe stomach cramps, felt like severe indigestion and heartburn shooting up in my chest and causing shortness of breathe, it hurt so bad I was crying and couldn't move at all. I made baby D come home and take me because I just couldn't take it anymore. It had been going on since 8 a.m. that morning and I finally went to L&D around 6 p.m….
Could this have been due to pregnancy? (I have carried low throughout the entire pregnancy, and now that I've dropped it's unbelievable). So I do experience a lot of constipation, and when I finally CAN go on days that I have no issue going, I go several times throughout the day, spread hours apart usually. What does this sound like? I'll ask my doctor of course, but I'd like to hear some opinions. Thank you.
pain in the clolon that comes 4-5 days after stomach flair up. On nexium and it helps a lot but can not get off it. two weeks after stopping pain comes back. with nexium pain is 0 and can eat anything, all symptoms are gone. Now I am 2 pregnant. Stopped nexium 2 months ago was ok for a while until I got a situation that stressed me highly and there the gastritis flaired up again.
I am 25 and just had a baby boy that is now 8 months old. I started taking nexium about 4 years ago for acid, but had my gallbladder out in august of 2006, so I decreased my nexium to one a day. During my pregnancy, all was fine with my stomach (aside from morning sickness). Andrew was very colic and my eating habits were poor for the first 4 months or so. I lost all of my weight, which I did not want to do. I wanted to remain 120, and I am now 105.
about 10% of people will feel some sort of side effect from Reglan, mostly fatigue and possibly restlessness. Have you tried any other class of drug? PPIs, like Protonix or Nexium, or H2-inhibitors, like Zantac or Pepcid? (For the record, PPIs also strengthen the LES, although they shut down production of acid instead of increasing the gastric contractions.) Usually Reglan is reserved for people with gastric motility issues. Have you had a gastric emptying exam? If so, what was the result?
i was like, thanks for telling me that now. i got discharged and the doctor perscribed me a round of nexium pills to take.so i was taking meds for my ibs and now for GERD. but i was still having painful periods. i was having pain a week before, during, and after at this point. everything hurt. and i was still struggling to put on weight. i was a mess both pyschically and emotionally. everyone i knew didn't believe there was anything wrong. because everything came back normal.
All benzos and some AD's should be avoided during pregnancy, I agree with Brenndy , Please go talk to your Doc about this, I know It will be EXTREMELY HARD to deal with the anxiety and what not, but the way I look at it, is these meds they put us on Directly influence are mind and body and controls are CNS and chemical imbalances, and would hate to see what they do to a unborn child. But....your doc may say the same as mamaos, to take very sparingly, and try not to take it at all.
My mom and her mom had it the ENTIRE PREGNANCY. Pepcid AC isn't working anymore. Eating certain foods and avoiding others doesn't do much. I sleep sitting up most of the time. After I threw up last night, although I felt generally crappy I realized that was the most "relaxed" and "comfortable" I'd been trying to sleep in WEEKS. I see the dr on Thursday and this is definitely coming up lol. It's only getting worse, is all day AND all night now, and idk what to do.
