Nurse advised me to take ZIDOLAM-N as PEP for 28 days. After continuing for 3 days i visited a doctor and he told me that Nevirapine should not be used for PEP but since i already started the PEP, he advised me to continue the same medication and asked to monitor closely the side effects of the drug. Now today Friday i am experiencing some pain in the upper abdomen.
Is there any possibility that i can change the PEP drug to avoid nevirapine, please Suggest?
As I type this I am shaking in fear.. I really need your Professional advise on this.
On Saturday morning last week I met a girl in Cambodia. After a few drinks together I took her back to my hotel & we had sex. I used a condom throughout the intercourse, however, after I ejaculated & pulled out I noticed the condom broke. It must have broke near the end as when we changed positions I noticed it was intact each time.
I am going to the US in 2 days, if I cannot find a way to get pep here, could I take his ARVs just until then as a temporary measure? He says he takes nevirapine and tenofivir/lamivudine blend.
Any advice really appreciated! If my risk is very low I would prefer not to take pep but I suspect I may be best advised to do so.
If it makes a difference, I am prone to have a tiny amount of blood(I think from tears) on toilet paper when I use the bathroom so that may make it more risky?

Hi, im a 25 year old South African male who recently had unprotected receptive intercourse with another male. My doctor at the time felt I was at risk so decided to put me on a prophylaxis for 4 weeks (commencing about 58 hours after the exposure). This was in January. After the prophylaxis ended, I tested negative at the end of February (rapid test).
I went to a nearby clinic and told the doctor that a condom broke during sex with a local sex worker. He mentioned a prophylaxis and antibiotics. I was worried about HIV and thought that this prophylaxis was for aids. He gave me a shot and a 10 day supply of doxicycline (antibiotic). After, I realized that this was for the prevention of an STD. I have searched the internet and have not found anything about STD prophylaxis. I am now concerned/wondering what Shot I was given.
So, within 2 hours of the incident, I was in the ER talking to the doctor and explaining what had happened and told him I wanted the post exposure prophylaxis since I dont do this often and this is a one time thing, and I dont want to get HIV or HSV for a stupid moment that didn't even include actual sex, just momentary rubbing genitals together.
hello guys, thanks for the reply. I'm worried because the guy had oral sex performed on him by a CSW 2 weeks ago. Just learned that. I'm concerned about the "window" period. What if he was in the window period when they tested him? I already stopped the HIV prophylaxis when i learned that he was (-) but now i'm worried again. He said that he was wearing a condom when he had that. I'm scared like crazy.

Hi, as far the present symptoms are concerend, probably they are due to prednisone only. Verapamil is the drug given in prophylaxis of migraine but it can not abort the attack once it get started.
May be you need to taper the dose of prednisone as this drug is never withdrawn instantly. Do consult doctor for side effects.

I was given 2g Azithromycin and 600mg Cefixime as prophylaxis later that night. However, the very next day, I started getting pain (like an ache) in the left inguinal node area that lasted a few minutes at a time and recurred throughout the day, but it did not hurt when I touched the area.
