lyrica

Avatar n tn lyrica is mostly for nerve pain..I just had fusion...lyrica is of little help..side effects are not great..dizziness, loss of concentration etc..
Avatar f tn Not sure if it would work for fibromyalgia. I have nerve pain from RSD after many hand surgeries. (I also have fibromyalgia.) I did stellate ganglion blocks for the nerve pain and have had varying relief with them. Maybe it's something you could ask about. Best of luck.
Avatar f tn I am having really awful intermittent pain in my arm. My neuro wrote a script for Lyrica. My big concern about these nerve pain drugs (Neurontin too) is the weight gain side effect. I struggle w/weight as it is and don't look forward to adding more. Please let me know what you may have experienced.
Avatar n tn I have been seen at the neurological centre and have had an MRI scan to determine if there was a vessel crossing over the Trigeminal nerve, which could be causing the pain attack. This has just come back as negative which leaves me wondering what happens now.... Do I wait for another episode of pain? am I supposed to pretend it did not happen? What can I do to prevent it? Why did nothing show up? As you can see I have been left with all these questions as to what do I do now.
Avatar n tn I hope you continue to do well on the lyrica and get ample pain relief from the nerve pain you have. I also deal with a lot of nerve pain and I know that it can be very painful and difficult to tolerate at times. Keep in touch and if you have any more questions, I will be more than happy to try to help!
Avatar n tn t afford it after a health plan change whch is definitely showing me it worked for the pain. LOL I have pain pump I hope they wll be able to do something in that for te nerve pain.

5164523 tn?1366525959 I was taken off vicodin gradually because though it was helping pain..my dr. said lyrica was better for my pain...so for awhile when i missed the lyrica, i thought oh, i have vicodin...but as Vicodin off, more and more the lyrica helped.....but when I missed doses of everything..., It was by my wife keeping a diary, that I realized I was missing so many just a few days or even one...the Oh! went on... And now I have taken 3yrs without feeling the sick, sweaty feeling I felt when I missed dose..
Avatar m tn has anyone ever been perscribed Lyrica for cronic pain. If so how much do you take, and how long did it take to notice any results. I started taking 50MG's 3X's a day. I started last Tuesday, and haven't noticed any difference in my pain. any feedback would be great.
210982 tn?1280983895 I still have Lyrica for when I get nerve pain, but I havent had to take it for a couple of months now. So just wanted to warn you of the problems that I had, Ive talked with others who didnt have really any bad side effects. I wish you all the best with your recovery. Take care.
Avatar m tn 150 mg at night, and it has really helped alot with the pain. Im also on norco for my back / neck pain, but the lyrica has been a great help to me. However it is expensive if you don't have insurance. Good luck to you all who suffer from this. I know quite a bit about neuropathy if I can help any one.
Avatar f tn I have tried both Neurontin and Lyrica for facial nerve pain from a badly botched root canal. Neurontin seemed to work for awhile but made me really stupid. Lyrica never did anything except make me cry all the time. I finally found some relief with Tegretol XR (extended release). You may also want to try a homeopathic whatever called "nerve fix".
689327 tn?1240229164 The first thing is to make absolutely certain that the nerve has been decompressed-- if this was an open procedure I guess I should assume the nerve was visualized and there is nothing pinching or pushing against the nerve. Beyond that the only thing I know of would be the 'usual anticonvulsants'-- neurontin in high doses, lyrica, tegretol... sometimes a small amount of an opiate makes a big difference.
491030 tn?1242424766 I was put on Lyrica for Fibromyalgia pain, and it helped with the pain, but it caused me to be out of it and tired and dizzy all the time. I finally had to quit it. But, I have heard it helps a lot of people. So, at least give it a try. A lady I work with takes it and it works for her! Good luck!!
Avatar f tn Nerve pain should be treated with something like neurotin or Lyrica that specifically works on nerve pain. Narcotics will not do much to help that sort of pain. Hope you get to feeling better soon!
Avatar f tn I saw my physiatrist last week for the increasing pain I am having related to my syrinx. He advised me to check back in with my NS, and gave me a script for Cymbalta. Apparently, this anti-depressant also works on nerves. I'm definitely not a depressed person - so I had my reservations for Cymbalta, but the pharmacist re-assured me that my dr prescribed it for neuro issues. However, my insurance is not picking up the Cymbalta, so my dr ordered Paroxetine in its place.
669241 tn?1236264344 I was on Lyrica 75 mgs for Fibromyalgia and it worked great for the pain, but I had trouble with my hads and feet swelling, I also gain alot of weight...Ihad to stop becaouse of the swelling..i didnt have any trouble stopping...I was told by the pharmacy it was a controlled substance...
Avatar m tn I had (undiagnosed) hyperthyroidism for many years from a multinodule toxic goiter. I had RAI ablation over two months ago. Just recently my lab results have begun to change. I also sleep longer and have gained weight and am sometimes cold instead of being hot all of the time. There are other subtle changes that I expected after RAI. What I didn't expect was the considerable numbness and occasional pain in my foot pads. It's driving me crazy.
358486 tn?1294776388 All the Med r the same more or less they help with depression and nerve pain. And for u ear and the load sounds. Maybe ur jaw is out of line. R u haven any face pain? U might have tmj.
Avatar f tn I have neuropathic nerve pain from a botched neck spinal fusion 2013. After 2 more spinal fusions to correct the problem it was determined that the problems i am having cannot be corrected. I am left with permanent damage and neupathic nerve pain. To add to it my lower back has disc compression issues. I have been getting injections for this when its unbearable, but im apprehensive about surgical treatment.
Avatar f tn I currently take 600mg of Lyrica a day...200mg three times a day. I have been on it for almost a year. I started out with 150mg two times a day. I guess my doc didn't taper because I had been on 4800mg Gabapentin a day...and switched to the Lyrica. My pain management doctor just doubled my dose last week....making it 600mg a day now. I found the Lyrica helped make my pain a manageable level, like a 4 or a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10.
Avatar n tn Have u tried narcotics, if yes, how do u deal w oain at bedtime, l take a dose and i cant sleep for,3 hrs, and cant sleep w the pain for my nerve impibgment
Avatar m tn well if you have nerve pain, and nerve pain can be the absolute worst type of pain! then i would have to say give it a try, it is pricey, and sometimes insurance dosent always cover it, so if not covered by insurance, ask about neurontin, i take neurontin 600 mgs three times a day and it helps with my everyday pain quite well. lyrica and neurontin are in the same class of drugs and are not physically addictive.
1359227 tn?1282522148 I've been on it for several years for nerve pain. It has been, for the most part, effective. I am also on Cymbalta, also for nerve pain. These two meds, plus oxycodone, baclofen and nerve blocks provide considerable relief.
