Neurontin xanax

Common Questions and Answers about Neurontin xanax

neurontin

Avatar f tn Hi. It is usually advised to monitor the response to a combination of Xanax and Neurontin. In the elderly, it is advisable to keep the doses adequate enough to have the desired clinical effect. The concern is about a possible clouding of consciousness. Potentially harmful activities such as driving may be avoided, since they require sustained alertness.
Avatar n tn Ideally, you shouldn't attempt to taper directly off of the Xanax; particularly given the fact that you've been on it for "years". Given the short half-life of 6-11 hours, Xanax does not accumulate in the plasma. It does it's thing within four-to-six hours, and then the blood plasma level troughs to a sub-therapeutic level. This leaves you screaming for more Xanax. If there isn't anything to subtract from gradually, the withdrawal would be hell.
2033870 tn?1329481339 I have rapid cycling bipolar as well as post traumatic stress disorder. He has me on Xanax for anxiety, Zoloft and Neurontin for mood stabilizer. Can anyone tell me what they think of Neurontin and if it words? I am very intrigued to know if I am on a good medicine or if this isn't good. I don't go back to him for 3 weeks.
Avatar m tn 5mg xanax 2times a day 20 mg of valium at bed time along with lexapro and trazadone (if needed). I am also prescribed 100mg neurontin 3 times per day in between the xanax to help with withdrawal symptoms. Is this a safe cocktail and is it hard to get off neurontin?
Avatar f tn I have about 25 600 mg pills. My question is while I taper off the Xanax, when should I start with the Neurontin to try to avoid seizing at hhome. I hope this all makes sense and someone has answer for me. I have to try to get thru this without having a lot of trouble.
1134609 tn?1269272200 5mgs, three times a day) and my shrink and I are thinking about kicking over to Xanax XR. I would prefer not to be on a benzo, but I hate the Klonopin, it makes the depression worse. If I have found, by taking Xanax XR are a PRN, that it lifts my mood as well as calming me down. The Klonopin just drags me out. What are some of the pros and cons of making this switch?
700212 tn?1240760820 My docter just prescribed me neurontin for what they are calling "nerve" pain. Have any of you ever taken it?...is it good or bad?...Ive heard both and Ive been trying to look it up...but I just started treatment also and I already take enough pills...but if its going to help I willtake it...My right leg has alot of nerve damage and deep scar tissue and it bothers me pretty bad...but for some reason they wont prescribe me pain meds that I can just take when Im in pain...
Avatar f tn I am interested in taking Amitriptyline the lowest dose which i belive is 10. My neurologist also gave me a script for xanax also the lowest dose. I would like to know if all 3 of these drugs are safe to take together. i am very sensative to meds and I always take the lowest dose possible to start or will sometimes cut my dose in half. Any information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you..
Avatar f tn Please be careful with using Neurontin... my husband who is addicted to opiates has become addicted to the Neurontin as well. It may sound silly, and I don't have a ton of knowledge on drugs and such, but you can find and read countless forums with people talking about how they abuse the drug, and the horrible withdrawals they go through when running out of it.
Avatar n tn You have to wean from Neurontin as you do antidepressants or risk siezures. Do not stop the Xanax ct as everyone else said, Hope you are one of the ones that it helps:o) God bless.
1134609 tn?1269272200 My psychiatrist and I have discussed weaning off of the Klonopin, or at least decreasing the dose. I am also on Neurontin, so we would like to know if that medication is enough to control the mania. Again, I take 1.5 mgs, split into .5 mg doses, three times a day. The tapering schedule we have come up with would involve reducing the overall dosage by 1/6th every few weeks; cutting one dose in half, starting with the noon dose. Is this a sound tapering schedule or do we need to go slower?
974371 tn?1424653129 t take Omeprazole for 7 days which I have to take every morning followed by Xanax to settle my stomach. Well, bad day today!! I finally had to take some Pepto. Have Carafate, which does nothing but make my mouth and throat horribly drier then they are already. So, the plan will be the 2 new meds, Activia, stay on the Clonidine (I have to check my BP twice a day on this stuff), Xanax and stop Prozac. This is all damn confusing. I just want to feel better. Anyone used these meds?
Avatar f tn I have tried multiple meds such as antidepressants and Gabapentin... always have had multiple side effects. Things like heart palpitation's, anziety and vision troubles. I can take xanax and Soma with no problems. My question is "could it be the Armour Thyroid that I take that causes the trouble?" I also have a movement disorder labeled as tremors/non-epileptic seizures which also gets worse with antidepressants.
Avatar n tn Hello all, my doc put me on Neurontin for my GAD, however, in the meantime I have been having horrible panic attacks, several a day and often in the middle of the night which is causing extreme sleep deprivation. I usually take 0.25mg of Xanax when I'm having a panic attack. She took me off the Xanax and put me on Klonopin 0.5mg twice a day. I'm going to take it tonight but my question is: does anyone take Klonopin for actual panic attacks and does it seem to kick in right away?
Avatar f tn neurontin...i used to actually be on that A while back....it can be a good medication...but some people have a slight or more moderate allergic reaction.....thats why i was taken off of it... instead of being pain free, i was developing muscle aches and skin heat due to an allergy-based rash from the medication... dont be scared though....talk to your doctor about the mix of the meds....and ask if what you are feeling is possible an adverse effect of the neurontin...
Avatar f tn No, not Neurontin or Lyrica. He mentioned Clonazepam because it's longer acting then Xanax but I'm scared....don't need any cognitive impairment. I'm very apprehensive toward taking prescriptions and such but might try the Trazadone this week. Yes, I am depressed/anxious and can't sleep. Feel like a walking zombie nowadays. Had to cut out caffeine and stimulants cause of panic attacks.
Avatar m tn Hello Wunk, Hope this finds you well. I consulted the PDR (Physicians' Desk Reference), which is THE medication bible that physicians refer to with regard to medications. The PDR lists Zanaflex Interactions as: "May potentiate CNS depression with alcohol, baclofen, benzodiazepines, other CNS depressants." Because you are taking Xanax, which is a benzodiazepine (a CNS depressant), I would strongly recommend that you consult your physician for the answer to your question.
Avatar m tn Doubling just the first couple of times caused swelling in my mouth and around my eyes, so I dropped lyrica altogether. In no time I was hit with xanax type withdrawal symptoms: depersonalization, lack of concentration and dizziness being the most frightening. So, I asked to be switched to neurontin and he wrote out 300 mgs. three times daily for me.
Avatar n tn I TAKE 14 MG OF XANAX DAILY DOWN FROM 20 MG A MONTH AGO I TAKE 60 MG PROZAC DAILY AND 600 MG OF NEURONTIN AND MOST DAYS I TAKE ANYWHERE FROM 2000 MG TO 3000 MG OF VICODEN I AM TRYING TO TAPER OFF XANAX AND STOP COMPLETELY THE VICODEN. BUT I'M HAVING A REAL HARD TIME WITH THE VICODEN; ESPECIALLY BECAUSE MY MOTHER JUST PASSED AWAY 2 DAYS AGO. I AM VERY AFRAID OF HAVING A SEIZURE AND OR DYING.
1438550 tn?1283974158 ) or Neurontin could be really handy in managing both pain and epilepsy while you could keep the Xanax for acute management. Anyway those are my opinions and should not be perceived as medical advices. Any change in your medication, dosage or schedule must be addressed with a qualified physician.
Avatar m tn spent 2 weeks weening off the Xanax. I have been off the Xanax since Mar. 16th. I am now taking 150mg./day of Zoloft, 1600mg./day Neuronton & 15mg. Remeron at bedtime. How long can I expect these withdrawal symptoms to remain.
1134609 tn?1269272200 And then possibly a benzo as a PRN. But, I have Ativan and Xanax XR in the cupboard and I have taken one of the Xanax and two Ativan over the space of 6 months; all while I was still taking the Celexa.
1551327 tn?1514045867 When I went to treatment last time they actually had to give me Neurontin to wean me off of the Neurontin. I had never seen them give you the medicine you were abusing to help you come off of it but it was the only safe way to do it. I am starting in the morning back working out and tapering off like they did me in treatment because the withdraw symptoms are actually pretty horrible at first.
Avatar f tn s, all the anti manics including lamictal, old antipyschotics and the new antipsychotics, which thanks to them I am now prediabetic. I am now on Lexapro, xanax and tegretol. The tegretol is recent but I am having trouble with restless legs with it. I might mention that I have also had 21 sessions of ECT. Is there anything left for me?? I am feeling pretty hopeless at this point.
Avatar m tn I've been on neurontin since I came of xanax 4 months ago, and I love it. It not only helped me through withdrawal from the xanax (I withdrew in rehab) but it helped with my panic attacks too. The other responses are right about the dose increases though, and lately it has been doing very little for my anxiety, I think it's time for another increase. I don't know much abou depakote though, I was on it briefly as a teen and that's it.
Avatar f tn May help if your not taking the Xanax everyday to use it to help you get off the neurontin if you so incline to get off of it. Just use like .25-.5mg to cut the little edge off and then try that meditation. Remember that Xanax is addictive and i'll admit i think i was nearly addicted to it at one point. So you just got to be careful.
Avatar f tn I have been dealing with episodes of rapid heart rate (from 150+) that after being tested from cardiologist was diagnosed as panic disorder. My shrink had me on most recently Neurontin and Xanax and Inderal to help slow my heart rate down which makes me panic even more. The Neurontin and Xanax weren't very effective and we just switched over to Klonopin since I need to take this every day and it's safer than xanax daily (supposedly). I also went back to Prozac.
Avatar f tn Hi folks; This is my first post here and I have a question I can't find an answer for anywhere. I've been on a number of narcotic pain meds for a while (currently percocet 3 x day) for intense burning (neuropathic) pain in my lower legs. It kind of works, but the burning sensation never really goes away. I've also tried other meds like nurontin with no relief at all. Well, last week.
1134609 tn?1269272200 the cycling just never seems to end. I am on 225mgs of Lamictal, 1600mgs of Neurontin and 1.5mgs of Klonopin. I have Xanax XR as a PRN and had too take that, along with 5 melatonin and 3 Benadrtyl to sleep last night; ridiculous...I still have a bunch of Xanax XR floating around in my system and it's not putting a dent into the mania. Over the past two weeks, my psychiatrist and I have tried Lithium (became very agitated) and Seroquel (made the cycling far worse).
