neurontin

9704730 tn?1405741284 I do not think that neurontin withdrawals cause any drowsiness!
6937315 tn?1386287618 Seriously worst withdrawal on the planet. I'm almost on my second week since last dose and still in full physical withdrawal. Use at your own risk. Don't let the "non-narcotic" label fool you it's very mentally and physically addicting. I feel like I need to warn people. This is just ridiculous that I was never warned about this.
Avatar m tn Mechanism of Action The mechanism of action exerted by Neurontin (gabapentin) is unknown. Gabapentin is structurally related to the neurotransmitter GABA, but it does not interact with GABA receptors, is not converted metabolically into GABA or a GABA agonist and is not an inhibitor of GABA uptake or degradation.
Avatar f tn Looking for people's experiences with Neurontin 1) in general and 2) specifically if its helpful for withdrawal. The poll is for people's experiences using Neurontin during withdrawal - not necessarily FOR withdrawal but just if you used during. lso let me know if you feel like it, what it actually helped with. If you have other experiences with it, please comment on this post and let me know. I was prescribed it weeks ago for facial pain, but I havent filled it.
974371 tn?1424653129 it can help regularize bowel movements. Gabapentin prevents pain-related responses. The mechanism by which gabapentin exerts its analgesic action is unknown. Hence your doctor would have prescribed it for the pain. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn Most of the individuals described in these reports had a history of poly-substance abuse or used Gabapentin to relieve symptoms of withdrawal from other substances. When prescribing Gabapentin carefully evaluate patients for a history of drug abuse and observe them for signs and symptoms of Gabapentin misuse or abuse (e.g. development of tolerance, self-dose escalation, and drug-seeking behavior).
Avatar m tn ve heard that neurontin or gabapentin is great for stopping the nerve pain associated with withdrawal. Has anyone had experience with this?
Avatar f tn My doctor is having me go off it and take neurontin instead. I have fibermygalia neuropathy 2 fractures in back. He wants me to take 100 mg neurontin and 100 mg trazadone for three nights. I am doing it slower. Is it normal to feel funny sweaty and shaky during the day? I am having a hard time functioning.
Avatar f tn I have been on Percocet for 10 years and then was taking Ultram to not have withdrawal but after reading all the horror stories on here about Ultram, I tried the Neurontin. I have been on it for 3 days and no withdrawal symptoms whatsoever. I am shocked. I heard it is not addictive either so I'm staying on it for a week or two and then stopping to see if the Perc are out of my system.
Avatar f tn For any one who is having trouble tapering off of gabapentin a magnesium supplement is very effective in reducing the severity of the withdrawal from gabapentin.
1474625 tn?1371097079 Been on methadone, up to 100mgs a day, for the past 12 years for pain control. Developed q-t wave prolongation, meaning the second beat of your heart doesn't beat and you pass out until hopefully, it starts again; if not, you die. Doc said it was from methadone so I began a SLOW taper: Per the pharmacist, reduce by 25%, every 14 days. Methadone has a 36-hr halflife, so this taper to 2-3 years. For various reasons, Ive gone off and on methadone about five times.
Avatar f tn Please be careful with using Neurontin... my husband who is addicted to opiates has become addicted to the Neurontin as well. It may sound silly, and I don't have a ton of knowledge on drugs and such, but you can find and read countless forums with people talking about how they abuse the drug, and the horrible withdrawals they go through when running out of it.
Avatar m tn I have to agree with your doc -- the therapeutic dose of Lyrica is 450mg / day, and for gabapentin, 1600mg / day or more. To have withdrawal symptoms for any medication, you first have to have developed a tolerance to that medication. This takes time. Tolerance is defined as by decline in efficacy, meaning that a dose that was effective for a long time stopped working, and an increase in medication improved the situation. Tolerance takes time.
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever heard or had experience with gabupentin helping with tramadol withdrawal? If so, how helpful is it? Do u have ANY withdrawal symptoms? I have heard it makes a world of difference!! Also how long do u have to take the gabupentin for to be in the clear? I'm going to be detoxing starting tomorrow and need some guidance. Thanks!!
Avatar f tn Gabapentin...Neurontin seems to have different effects on different people. It has an antidepressant quality and many people have wd symptoms when they just stop taking it. It has to be weaned onto and weaned off of or you will feel effects...although some just stop taking it and are fine. My doc was opiates and I take Neurontin for my spinal stenosis.
Avatar f tn can neurontin make you moody anf what r the side effects of drinkinh with it ,how can a oerson wean thereselves off it 1200mg in the morning and 800mg at 1,5,and bedtime
Avatar m tn When I used my scripts too early and couldnt find any street drugs I searched the internet for other means of beating this nightmare we call opiate withdrawl. The drug that has saved my rear end is Neurontin (gabapentin). I had a script for 600 mg pills. I'm 6'2" and 220 and i took 2 of the 600 mg tabs. Was in full blown withdrawl but slept great for 7 hours. Woke up feeling kind of loopy, but no symptoms of withdrawl at all!! I couldn't believe it.
Avatar m tn t seem to be working for me, and though she has no idea how to deal with my unusual situation, she was inclined to try either Neurontin/Gabapentin or Depakote. I was pretty taken aback, and we ended with me going to 40mg of Celexa until I see her next month. I've heard a lot that gabapentin and like meds often cause more anxiety, and I admit knowing nothing about Depakote because my issue has never called for an anti-psychotic. So, folks, any thoughts here?
1310035 tn?1305621642 Neurontin (brand name for gabapentin) helps with nerve pain. It is very commonly used in MS. Another med for this purpose is Lyrica. If one doesn't work or the side efffects are too much, then the other can be tried, but the two are very similar. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn I dont have a lot of experience using neurontin for withdrawal symptoms, but I did take it once when I was weening off Subs. The Dr. gave it to me for RLS. It made me feel so dopy and slugglish that I had to stop using it. He told me that I'd get use to it after awhile, but I just couldnt push through til then. I know ppl at my work who use it for leg pain and some just use it to get a speed type buzz.
Avatar m tn On august 1st, I quit suboxone at 8mg, I had been taking ALOT of neurontin aka gabapentin during the withdrawal to help with symptoms, I was taking around 6,000 to 7,000 mg a day, somedays even 10,000mg but that amount was very rare.
Avatar m tn Well I remembered that I had read something about Neurontin aka Gabapentin helping other people with withdrawals. I had a bottle from something but had never taken them. Well I tried it. They are 300mg pills and the bottle said take 1 3 times a day so I started doing that (this was Monday evening). Well Tuesday arrived and although I didn't feel like doing cartwheels I wasn't bad at all but I felt very knocked in the dirt from the Neurontin. They made me so sleepy and out of it.
