Neurontin withdrawal depression

Common Questions and Answers about Neurontin withdrawal depression

neurontin

Avatar f tn Please be careful with using Neurontin... my husband who is addicted to opiates has become addicted to the Neurontin as well. It may sound silly, and I don't have a ton of knowledge on drugs and such, but you can find and read countless forums with people talking about how they abuse the drug, and the horrible withdrawals they go through when running out of it.
Avatar m tn On august 1st, I quit suboxone at 8mg, I had been taking ALOT of neurontin aka gabapentin during the withdrawal to help with symptoms, I was taking around 6,000 to 7,000 mg a day, somedays even 10,000mg but that amount was very rare.
Avatar f tn ve felt before. With neurontin I have none of those spasms cramps or depression and mood swings. It also gives me no "high" feeling at all so its not a temptation for abuse or addiction. Get some neurontin, some benadryl and some diarrhea medication and you won't believe how successful you will be and you won't have to suffer! My prayers go out to anyone going through this.
Avatar f tn Looking for people's experiences with Neurontin 1) in general and 2) specifically if its helpful for withdrawal. The poll is for people's experiences using Neurontin during withdrawal - not necessarily FOR withdrawal but just if you used during. lso let me know if you feel like it, what it actually helped with. If you have other experiences with it, please comment on this post and let me know. I was prescribed it weeks ago for facial pain, but I havent filled it.
Avatar m tn When I used the neurontin I only took it for about 10 days just to get through the physical withdrawals. Neurontin is used for many different things. A few of those are sleep, restless leg syndrome, anxiety, hot flashes, and many others. All of those symptons are a part of withdrawals. I was truly amazed on how well it worked. I was originally prescribed neurontin for nerve pain due to scar tissue hitting my sciatic nerve.
Avatar n tn so you are familiar with neurontin?
1134609 tn?1269272200 I am a new member, I have been diagnosed with Type Two Bipolar Depression and I take 1.5mg of Klonopin a day along with several other medications. The Klonopin is very affective in stopping my agitated manic phases, which isthe most serious aspect of my illness. I have two questions: 1. I have been told that 1.5 mgs of klonopin is small dose of the medication and that it's not something that I should be concerned with. Is 1.5 mgs a small dose? 2.
2097395 tn?1333262190 I've found my memory has been effected to the point where I forget things like MD appointments (using alerts and appointment cards. I repeat questions to my kids, who think I'm crazy, and worst of all, I feel some withdrawal symptoms, ie: sensitive touch to skin, irratibity, depression. I'm s/p l4-s1 spinal fusion, so I so have some remnant nerve pain depending on how physical I am. What to do?....take more med? (Taking 300/ 3x's a day)..frankly I'm afraid to get off of it.
Avatar m tn That means you may also need an SSRI antidepressant to deal with some depression that may develop as the result of your withdrawal. But it does get better and better every day if you stick with it, so please don’t give up. I encourage you to look at my blog on Tramadol misuse for more info by clicking on my name and than "blogs", and please make sure you read the readers' comments to the blog. They are fascinating.
1134609 tn?1269272200 I was completely stable until I stopped taking my extra dose of Neurontin to sleep at night and then I crashed. Then I spent a month bouncing me around on the Neurontin; it was causing me serious issues. Instead of taking a look at potential issues with my original medication cocktail, she just threw all kinds of medication into the mix in an effort to treat the depression the withdrawals were causing. Since I have gotten back on a standard dose, I have evened out completely.
Avatar n tn I took Neurontin for a while but it made me too sleepy and groggy. My doctor did have me taper off of it before switching to Lyrica. I now take one Lyrica before bed and it has helped me IMMENSELY with the nerve pain/damage in my arm and hand without feelng foggy. I am now only taking Lyrica and Motrin. Works very well for me. I dont see how it could be abused as it doesnt give any euphoric effects.
9704730 tn?1405741284 My doctor put me on neurontin but I think I am now having withdrawal symptoms from neurontin. I have been taking about 900 mg a day since September. It gives me a lot of side effects such as drowsiness and the inability to think quickly. I wanted to know if it is possible that I am still in withdrawal from the tramadol or if it's the neurontin.
Avatar m tn ve heard that neurontin or gabapentin is great for stopping the nerve pain associated with withdrawal. Has anyone had experience with this?
Avatar m tn Definitely the Neurontin (gabapentin). It takes away most withdrawal symptoms including the restless limbs which for most people is the worst part of the withdrawal. I always had to take a bunch of it though. But the thing is that it makes you very sleepy so when I went through 2.5 days of withdrawal I slept pretty decently. It should work for you since you are on day 11. Good luck and I will be thinking about you! If you cant get Neurontin try some generic (or brand name) immodium.
Avatar f tn should i take one-half percocet along with other drugs to help withdrawal? i am mostly scared of extreme depression i get with withdrawal.
5333788 tn?1366569346 Been off of it for 9 days. Was prescribed the generic brand of Neurontin 100mg Was advised by my Psychiatrist to increase dosage of Neurontin to 300mg on Friday. Still having crying spells. Was told that I was going through withdrawal symptoms from the Lyrica. Can this be possible even though I was taking Lyrica for a short period of time? Sorry if this does not make sense. Have been seen by a few doctor's, gone through many tests, the list goes on........
Avatar m tn So I've been experiencing chronic leg pain for 3 years now, going from doctor to doctor and getting no diagnosis. 3 months ago under the belief that it may be muscle related I was prescribed qualaquin 324mg tablets and physical therapy, neither really helped much but I faithfully took the qualaquin every night before sleeping. Now recently I've finally been diagnosed with spinal stenosis and given neurontin to treat it.
479459 tn?1246742019 Hi there, I have posted in the past, but lately just lurking and reading all the great support here. I have had issues with alcohol for 20 years and am an alcoholic. Well, back in Dec I was trying to substitute pain pills, vikes and percs, for when I'd be abstaining. You can imagine what that led to. I got pretty addicted even though my scripts would run out. Went thru major WD a couple months ago but relapsed several times since. Luckily not enough for the big WD to set in.
Avatar m tn I am concerned about withdrawal, as even though my total intake each day isnt a lot, my body is used to taking one a day. Is the withdrawal going to be long and hard, I am nervous and scared. I already take medication for severe anxiety (klonopin, effexor 75mg once a day) I just want to know what kind of symptoms and how long I will have to deal with it. ANY AND ALL HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!!
553001 tn?1218811768 Hi Stacy, I just found out yesterday that Neurontin really helps with the withdrawal symptoms. I have been on Percocet for 10 years so I know what you are going through. I tried the Neurontin for the first time today and I couldn't believe it. No withdrawal symptoms whatsoever and I should have been in major withdrawal by 3:00 pm and I still was fine. And the best part of all was I wasn't craving a Percocet like I normally do. I just was shocked.
Avatar f tn Hi Dear The long term effects of Neurontin are still not known completely. However, Neurontin is a relatively safe and effective treatment for pain. Many patients with painful neruopathy have used Neurontin for many years. Typically the side-effects include somnolence, dizziness, and imbalance. Since you have been using Neurontin for 9 years, there does not seem to be a problem continuing it, even at a slightly increased dose.
Avatar f tn FYI......Google neurontin & withdrawal.......I have read horror stories. i dont know how real they are as most seem to be posted around the time of the lawsuit...lol. I have taken it for a while and stopped with no withdrawal, although i haven't taken it but for a couple months lately. I love it ! I won't go back to opiates, so I have no choice. Nauty.........
6937315 tn?1386287618 Seriously worst withdrawal on the planet. I'm almost on my second week since last dose and still in full physical withdrawal. Use at your own risk. Don't let the "non-narcotic" label fool you it's very mentally and physically addicting. I feel like I need to warn people. This is just ridiculous that I was never warned about this.
9704730 tn?1405741284 She is keeping me on neurontin which terrifies me because it causes withdrawal. I tried not taking it and I still have the same withdrawal symptoms. Any help would be great. My doctor is saying this isn't PAWS that I am still in acute withdrawal.
8265858 tn?1403378544 As you already know, it usually takes several weeks of the really nasty symptoms of acute withdrawal, followed by several months of just insomnia and general weakness and depression. A physician may be able to prescribe you some Neurontin (gabapentin) for general malaise, anxiety and muscle cramps, Requip for the restless leg syndrome and possibly something like Seroquel low dose for the insomnia.
Avatar f tn I have been on Percocet for 10 years and then was taking Ultram to not have withdrawal but after reading all the horror stories on here about Ultram, I tried the Neurontin. I have been on it for 3 days and no withdrawal symptoms whatsoever. I am shocked. I heard it is not addictive either so I'm staying on it for a week or two and then stopping to see if the Perc are out of my system.
Avatar n tn The withdrawals from it were similar to a benzo. Can anyone relate to Neurontin or Lyrica withdrawal? Anyways, my doctor wants to try Wellbutrin. It sounds okay but only helps with depression. He also suggested Ultram/Tramadol. I know, I know. It is addictive. Is similar to an opiate, although it's not. And can possibly lead me back to my addiction. But wait, I have been reading alot about the medication and it is doing wonders for people. Recovering addicts.
1041243 tn?1375230520 I have ocd, gad, and moderate depression (all have been formally diagnosed). A week ago my psychiatrist stopped my 200 mgs of zoloft and started me on luvox 50 mgs a day for the first two weeks then 100 mgs a day there after. A couple days later I started expiriencing major withdrawal symptoms, severe anxiety and panic (more so than usual), insomnia, and some slight agoraphobia (I don't like to leave the house, but I will if I need too) and even stronger ocd symptoms.
Avatar f tn But for right now, to deal with your withdrawal symptoms, see if your doctor can write you a prescription for some Requip for restlessness, Neurontin for anxiety and malaise, some Flexeril or Soma for a few weeks for muscle spasms and maybe some Seroquel low dose, for sleep, Clonidine helps with the creepy-crawly feeling and helps stabilize the blood pressure. All of these medications will make your life easier during this time.
