1542096 tn?1293162924 Hi, restless leg syndrome (RLS) can be treated by underlying illness, if known. For example, a search for iron deficiency by blood testing to reveal underlying iron deficiency anemia by supplying iron. Elimination of caffeine, smoking and alcohol can be very helpful. Getting better sleep and exercise can help some persons affected by restless legs. Drugs include carbidopa-levodopa, opioids , tramadol for intermittent symptoms, carbamazepine, clonazepam, diazepam, triazolam, and clonidine.
Avatar m tn I am unable to walk for long periods of time, the pain is not lessening even though i am currently taking myropex on a daily basis. I have had testing for restless leg syndrome, arthritis, had an mri, etc and am tired of not being able to get any relief from this because no one knows whats wrong. This has been ongoing for over 10 years and is progressively getting worse to the point I had to quit my job because I was not able to function normally. Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn What you describe is an opiate withdrawal symptom. A lot of people call it Restless Leg Syndrome, which I personally think is a poor name and not descriptive of the symptoms (and a lot of physicians don't even recognize it as a real condition, but one manufactured by the pharmaceutical industry). Anyway, the discomfort and pain in your leg is a very common withdrawal symptom. I eased it somewhat with lots of hot baths, and wrapping my lower legs in a heating pad.
Avatar n tn You could ask your doc for Requip...it is used for restless leg syndrome. There are a few other meds that could possibly help...one of them being Neurontin. Talk to your doc about it....Other than that, I used a heating pad that wrapped around my legs for that wanting to move constantly feeling...it helped some...not alot, but some. Valium will not help for this.
773646 tn?1239225659 Have you considered a sleep study? I had one done years ago and discovered I had Restless Leg Syndrome. Neurontin really helped. Even if it isn't something like RLS or Periodic Limb Movement Disorder, the sleep study would document what's going on. Whatever's going on, I hope you can get help in figuring it out and treating it. Sleep is so important to all of us.
Avatar m tn Restless Leg Syndrome is associated with kidney problems, pregnancy, and iron deficiency. And you don't have to be anemic to be low enough on iron to experience RLS. If you have restless legs, you should have your serum ferritin checked: This is a measure of body iron stores-not just your hemoglobin and hematocrit, which is what doctors test for when they suspect anemia.
574118 tn?1305135284 so you can say no aim, no patience, my life is standstill is it my illness (BP) ? or an associated ADHD, or akathesia, or restless leg syndrome from the melange (mix) of the many antipsychotics (risperidone, seroquel, stelazine) is there an extra pill for this?
Avatar n tn This is the WORST W/D symptom I have. i can deal with the pain, riarreah...etc. but not the restless leg syndrome. Does anyone have an answer for me?
Avatar f tn I have diabetes, peripheral neuropathy, chronic bronchitis, COPD, hiatal hernia, GERD, restless leg syndrome, arthritic cervical spondylosis, alergies, ADD (my primary care dr says), but have never been diagnosed with it. It makes sense, however, as when in school and even now, I will be talking about one subject and will constantly go off on another completely different subject. My attention span is very short and always has been.
Avatar f tn I have recently started experiencing restless leg syndrome during the night.do any of you experience this and what do you to help it?if you have any suggestions please share.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with restless leg syndrome. It's caused by low Iron. The actual medication prescribed for it Is not considered safe during pregnancy. Also you can too much iron so I would recommend you talk to your Dr and see if you can have your Iron levels tested or if they already have been, to see if you can take iron supplements.
