neurontin

Avatar f tn Has anyone had an experience with neurontin? It was prescribed for burning hands and feet and I feel very wierd and crazy..and dizzy.
612205 tn?1225594910 Neurontin, as a rule, is not habit forming, i.e., it's not a narcotic. I have MS and, as HelpinUtah alluded to, Neurontin is prescribed, in general, for nerve pain. My neurologist has had me on Neurontin for MS related pain in my legs, and I can tell you it's not habit forming. I presume you have some type of similar symptoms for your doc to prescribe it (?). I hope this helps ..
Avatar n tn But if you still have anxiety maybe you should switch to klonopin, that what I did. 1200mg neurontin 1mg klonopin 20 mg lexapro, every morning and 600mg neurontin and 1mg klonopin in the eve. Neurontin has shown to be a mood stabilizer and good for anxiety. It helps...
Avatar m tn When I used my scripts too early and couldnt find any street drugs I searched the internet for other means of beating this nightmare we call opiate withdrawl. The drug that has saved my rear end is Neurontin (gabapentin). I had a script for 600 mg pills. I'm 6'2" and 220 and i took 2 of the 600 mg tabs. Was in full blown withdrawl but slept great for 7 hours. Woke up feeling kind of loopy, but no symptoms of withdrawl at all!! I couldn't believe it.
Avatar f tn I'm a 58 y/o female who had a left total knee replacement 15 months ago with a subsequent MRSA sepsis. I underwent a second surgery where the left knee was debrided and the plastic part of the joint replacement was changed. I was treated with 8 weeks of IV Vanco and oral Rifampin. Now I have continual pain in my left buttock with "sores" only on the left side only. I continue with pain in the left buttock muscle, as well as most of my other joints.
237152 tn?1206651036 my opinion is that it is not addictive, i have been on neurontin for about a month now, missed doses...etc... never had a problem yet...neurontin is NOT lyrica, but it is in the same type of drug class... i recommend it for anyone looking for an alternative for chronic pain...a nonaddictive alternative...
Avatar f tn Will Neurontin show up on a drug test? Took one last night and will possibly be taking a drug test tomorrow morning? Does anyone know for sure? Thanks a bunch!
Avatar f tn Please be careful with using Neurontin... my husband who is addicted to opiates has become addicted to the Neurontin as well. It may sound silly, and I don't have a ton of knowledge on drugs and such, but you can find and read countless forums with people talking about how they abuse the drug, and the horrible withdrawals they go through when running out of it.
Avatar f tn My doctor is starting me on Neurontin. Has anyone had any luck with it or had any side effects?
Avatar m tn I mentioned neurontin awhile back. There was a news episode where a clinic was using it as part of a detox plan. I went from taking around 200 mg of hydro to cold turkey. I've been through withdrawals without it so I know exactly how much the suck! I used neurontin and was able to go on with life. I still had the chills and some anxiety, but you was bearable. It really helped me the most with sleep. The only side effect I had from it was a tinge of a headache and a little fuzzy headed.
1855076 tn?1337115303 I'm just curious if anyone is hearing that Neurontin is being abused? I was given this for nerve pain but couldn't tolerate it as it caused serious slurring of my words to the point people thought I was intoxicated. I also had trouble word-finding on it. But I didn't think it was something anyone abused. (Though I slurred my words, I didn't feel high or intoxicated with it; I sort of felt locked in ... I knew in my head what word I wanted but couldn't get it out.
9704730 tn?1405741284 Hello I have a question about neurontin. I recently stopped taking tramadol after 13 years. I had a very difficult time doing so. I stopped Dec 6. My doctor put me on neurontin but I think I am now having withdrawal symptoms from neurontin. I have been taking about 900 mg a day since September. It gives me a lot of side effects such as drowsiness and the inability to think quickly.
Avatar f tn Do you feel that this is related to stopping Neurontin ??? Also, are Neurontin and Lyrica the same drug? I have been hearing this, but have not found anything to support this in my google search. Do you have any opinions about the use of Neurontin for opiate withdrawal? Nauty..........
Avatar f tn Hi j503, I want to welcome you to the Pain Management Forum and let you know that we are glad that you have found this Forum. I nedd to let you know taht there are NO Doctors on this Forum ONLY CP (Chronic Pain) Patients that help each other with their own expertise and experience that they have gained from their own Pain issues. I'm sorry that you aren't getting any relief from your Neurontin.
Avatar f tn The basic question is - How long should it take to feel relief from taking Neurontin? I have been taking 3000Mg a day for about 3 weeks now and still haven't noticed any difference. A little background. I have been doctoring since April 1st for pins & needles/numbness/tightening/pain/tingling in both hands. Also, my arms and chest feel as if I have an extremely tight shirt on. The MRI revealed a spinal cord lesion at C3.
1207048 tn?1282174304 My doctor has suggested I try neurontin (or I guess the generic version). I'm not very fond of taking medicine (I know, I'll have to get over that real quick if I get diagnosed LOL). I will most likely try this. I think my sleep is being interrupted after a few hours sleep because I'm uncomfortable. Not in pain so much, but sore and achey.
Avatar f tn Anybody ever have serious eye trouble with neurontin? When I take it one pupil is larger than the other and pulses. Of course, my doc says this is not a side effect. I saw the eye doc today and he wasn't pleased. I have to have a test on Monday to hopefully prove it is the drug and not something horrid. I know it is the drug as I dropped it and my eyes went back to normal. I know now I have to drop it slowly or I will possibly get a seizure. Anybody who has had this, please write!
Avatar f tn Well, I finally got my prescription filled and it is Neurontin. has anyone taken this?? I looked it up, but would love to hear from anyone who has taken it before I take it tonight. Reading about it kind of freaked me out....
Avatar f tn I did stop the neurontin 3 days ago and in the meantime have picked up the worst cold I have had in years. At least my pupils seem to be about the same size now and I can finally focus much better. The other symptoms seem to be going away as well. Now, if I can beat this cold so I can get to the gym and start exercising maybe I can get the endorphins working and get rid of the pain I seem to be stuck with.
Avatar f tn Looking for people's experiences with Neurontin 1) in general and 2) specifically if its helpful for withdrawal. The poll is for people's experiences using Neurontin during withdrawal - not necessarily FOR withdrawal but just if you used during. lso let me know if you feel like it, what it actually helped with. If you have other experiences with it, please comment on this post and let me know. I was prescribed it weeks ago for facial pain, but I havent filled it.
Avatar n tn Anyone taking neurontin for anxiety? I was started on it almost 3 weeks ago...I was started out only on 100mg at bedtime, now I"m taking 200mg. Has anyone had any horrible side effects? After the 200mg I feel sort of drugged and really sleepy (although it didn't help me sleep, odd.) Just wondering what your experiences are.
Avatar n tn Neurontin will NOT make you fail a drug test...I just had a10 panel random test at my job and the only thing I was asked about was my benzos which was verified by my pharmacy. No mention of neurontin, and I passed!!!
700212 tn?1240760820 My docter just prescribed me neurontin for what they are calling "nerve" pain. Have any of you ever taken it?...is it good or bad?...Ive heard both and Ive been trying to look it up...but I just started treatment also and I already take enough pills...but if its going to help I willtake it...My right leg has alot of nerve damage and deep scar tissue and it bothers me pretty bad...but for some reason they wont prescribe me pain meds that I can just take when Im in pain...
Avatar f tn I was taking neurontin 300mg/3x a day. It was working fairly well for about 3 weeks, then started not working...they thought I needed a higher dose, but then my old doctor told me it was all in my head and took me off all meds! It did make me tired and actually made me a little depressed. So while I was taking it my doctor put me on Cymbalta to kind of counter act the depression. Which made me even more tired.
1310035 tn?1305621642 Neurontin (brand name for gabapentin) helps with nerve pain. It is very commonly used in MS. Another med for this purpose is Lyrica. If one doesn't work or the side efffects are too much, then the other can be tried, but the two are very similar. Hope this helps.
