Common Questions and Answers about Neurontin kidney

neurontin

Avatar m tn Most days it still feels like my kidney is still there and hurts exactly like it did when I had kidney infections or kidney stones. When I had my surgery they cut me from back ribcage to the front below my bladder so there is a lot of nerves that were severed during the surgery. Most of the time if feels like my kidney is huge and taking up too much space inside and under my ribcage, so the pain is not just right in the nerve endings.
Avatar n tn After than we got her we checked out every 6 months. Just recently we found another cycst on the same kidney. Our family doctor reffered us to kidney specialist and there we were advised to have our own kidneys checked out to see if there is a family trait to it. They have also done a genetic test. All these results came out negative. But then again the specialist said we still have a small chance that we might suffer from polycystic kidney disease.
Avatar m tn For copax, there is a small percentage of patients (2%) in after marketing studies who experienced kidney or flank pain, and I read about an instance of kidney failure, but seen no reference to the actual percentage or instances of how many. I'll dig for the source for you if you are interested. As far as provigil, you may find more information if you look for post marketing adverse reactions,kidney/renal (as key words) problems for modafinil. What kind of doc looking into this for you?
Avatar m tn Now he has blood and protein in his urine which the doctors say shows kidney dysfunction. What causes kidney dysfunction? How serious is it? Could that be part of his CPPS pain? He just went to a lab today for blood and urinalysis tests so we don't have the results yet.
Avatar f tn Now, my kidneys leak blood all the time (yes, i pee blood all the time now)...and that is not solely from the Neurontin, because i had a kidney birth defect, but it had never developed into this next "bleeding" stage until after the Neurontin Nightmare Year. And there are other issues which i still have to this day ...although i'd call them echo's...since none are so violent or long lasting as they were during the worst of it while i was on the highest doses of Neurontin.
Avatar n tn This is also a kidney forum so the itching you describe may not be the same as for kidney disease. You may want to talk about neurontin with your doctor, I know it is good for diabetic neuropathy and used in MS sometimes.
Avatar n tn Hi everybody, I just wanted to ask one more question. The doctor put me on Neurontin for the nerve pain I've been experiencing. I am on 300mg three times a day. At first it helped enough that I was able to handle things, but now it isn't working at all anymore. I am also on Percocet and Tramadal. I was trying not to take the Percocet because being on two addictive narcotics makes me nervous, but now I am having to take it several times a day in order to control my pain.
Avatar m tn Restless Leg Syndrome is associated with kidney problems, pregnancy, and iron deficiency. And you don't have to be anemic to be low enough on iron to experience RLS. If you have restless legs, you should have your serum ferritin checked: This is a measure of body iron stores-not just your hemoglobin and hematocrit, which is what doctors test for when they suspect anemia.
Avatar f tn Will Neurontin show up on a drug test? Took one last night and will possibly be taking a drug test tomorrow morning? Does anyone know for sure? Thanks a bunch!
Avatar f tn Please be careful with using Neurontin... my husband who is addicted to opiates has become addicted to the Neurontin as well. It may sound silly, and I don't have a ton of knowledge on drugs and such, but you can find and read countless forums with people talking about how they abuse the drug, and the horrible withdrawals they go through when running out of it.
Avatar f tn My doctor is starting me on Neurontin. Has anyone had any luck with it or had any side effects?
Avatar m tn I mentioned neurontin awhile back. There was a news episode where a clinic was using it as part of a detox plan. I went from taking around 200 mg of hydro to cold turkey. I've been through withdrawals without it so I know exactly how much the suck! I used neurontin and was able to go on with life. I still had the chills and some anxiety, but you was bearable. It really helped me the most with sleep. The only side effect I had from it was a tinge of a headache and a little fuzzy headed.
1855076 tn?1337115303 I'm just curious if anyone is hearing that Neurontin is being abused? I was given this for nerve pain but couldn't tolerate it as it caused serious slurring of my words to the point people thought I was intoxicated. I also had trouble word-finding on it. But I didn't think it was something anyone abused. (Though I slurred my words, I didn't feel high or intoxicated with it; I sort of felt locked in ... I knew in my head what word I wanted but couldn't get it out.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had an experience with neurontin? It was prescribed for burning hands and feet and I feel very wierd and crazy..and dizzy.
9704730 tn?1405741284 Hello I have a question about neurontin. I recently stopped taking tramadol after 13 years. I had a very difficult time doing so. I stopped Dec 6. My doctor put me on neurontin but I think I am now having withdrawal symptoms from neurontin. I have been taking about 900 mg a day since September. It gives me a lot of side effects such as drowsiness and the inability to think quickly.
Avatar f tn Do you feel that this is related to stopping Neurontin ??? Also, are Neurontin and Lyrica the same drug? I have been hearing this, but have not found anything to support this in my google search. Do you have any opinions about the use of Neurontin for opiate withdrawal? Nauty..........
Avatar f tn Hi j503, I want to welcome you to the Pain Management Forum and let you know that we are glad that you have found this Forum. I nedd to let you know taht there are NO Doctors on this Forum ONLY CP (Chronic Pain) Patients that help each other with their own expertise and experience that they have gained from their own Pain issues. I'm sorry that you aren't getting any relief from your Neurontin.
Avatar f tn The basic question is - How long should it take to feel relief from taking Neurontin? I have been taking 3000Mg a day for about 3 weeks now and still haven't noticed any difference. A little background. I have been doctoring since April 1st for pins & needles/numbness/tightening/pain/tingling in both hands. Also, my arms and chest feel as if I have an extremely tight shirt on. The MRI revealed a spinal cord lesion at C3.
1207048 tn?1282174304 My doctor has suggested I try neurontin (or I guess the generic version). I'm not very fond of taking medicine (I know, I'll have to get over that real quick if I get diagnosed LOL). I will most likely try this. I think my sleep is being interrupted after a few hours sleep because I'm uncomfortable. Not in pain so much, but sore and achey.
Avatar f tn Anybody ever have serious eye trouble with neurontin? When I take it one pupil is larger than the other and pulses. Of course, my doc says this is not a side effect. I saw the eye doc today and he wasn't pleased. I have to have a test on Monday to hopefully prove it is the drug and not something horrid. I know it is the drug as I dropped it and my eyes went back to normal. I know now I have to drop it slowly or I will possibly get a seizure. Anybody who has had this, please write!
Avatar f tn Well, I finally got my prescription filled and it is Neurontin. has anyone taken this?? I looked it up, but would love to hear from anyone who has taken it before I take it tonight. Reading about it kind of freaked me out....
Avatar f tn I did stop the neurontin 3 days ago and in the meantime have picked up the worst cold I have had in years. At least my pupils seem to be about the same size now and I can finally focus much better. The other symptoms seem to be going away as well. Now, if I can beat this cold so I can get to the gym and start exercising maybe I can get the endorphins working and get rid of the pain I seem to be stuck with.
Avatar f tn Looking for people's experiences with Neurontin 1) in general and 2) specifically if its helpful for withdrawal. The poll is for people's experiences using Neurontin during withdrawal - not necessarily FOR withdrawal but just if you used during. lso let me know if you feel like it, what it actually helped with. If you have other experiences with it, please comment on this post and let me know. I was prescribed it weeks ago for facial pain, but I havent filled it.
Avatar n tn Anyone taking neurontin for anxiety? I was started on it almost 3 weeks ago...I was started out only on 100mg at bedtime, now I"m taking 200mg. Has anyone had any horrible side effects? After the 200mg I feel sort of drugged and really sleepy (although it didn't help me sleep, odd.) Just wondering what your experiences are.
