1134609 tn?1269272200 I kicked over to the generic version of the Neurontin because the pharmacy started giving me crap. They had to special order the 300 and 400mg tablets in and over half of those pills came in bubble sheets. It would take them 5 days to fill the med and I got tired of the hassle. But, now that I am using the 600mg tablets, that's not an issues and I can use my pill cutter to lop them down into 300 and 150mg portions. It'll be more cost effective for me that way.

Avatar n tn The most common anti-inflammatories (NSAIDS - Non-Steroidal Anti-INflammatory) are Motrin (Generic = Ibuprofen) or Aleve (Generic = Naproxen or Naproxen Sodium). I agree - use only one of these. If you use Aleve be careful if you are on Neurontin because is a small amount of cases Aleve will interact with Neurontin and cause a 12 - 15% increase in the absorption of the Neurontin (I know this from first hand experience).
5333788 tn?1366569346 Been off of it for 9 days. Was prescribed the generic brand of Neurontin 100mg Was advised by my Psychiatrist to increase dosage of Neurontin to 300mg on Friday. Still having crying spells. Was told that I was going through withdrawal symptoms from the Lyrica. Can this be possible even though I was taking Lyrica for a short period of time? Sorry if this does not make sense. Have been seen by a few doctor's, gone through many tests, the list goes on........
172023 tn?1334672284 If you are a self pay patient, you know how expensive Neurontin (gabapentin) is. My dosage is 600mg twice a day. CVS wanted $218 for a thirty day supply (60 tablets, 600mg each). Walmart wanted $110. But get this...the curious pharmacy tech looked up the price of 300mg capsules....$13 for a thirty day supply, 300mg, two capsules twice a day (equals one 600mg tab taken twice a day). Can you freaking believe that???? $110 for the 600mg, $13 for 300mg.
1359227 tn?1282522148 Neurontin in my opinion as a patient on it is a hit and miss. Sometimes it works for some things and other times it doesn't. I took it in 2003 for reflex sympathetic dystrophy of my right leg and it did absolutely nothing for the pain. Now I have unexplained full body nerve pain and it brings the pain down from a 10 to a 6 on most days and my dose is slowly being raised, so I suspect I will soon be relieved of the full body nerve pain.
681148 tn?1437661591 My pharmacist just told me something important about Neurontin that I thought I should share with everyone, since so many people here are also taking Neurontin. He said that I should take the Neurontin either two hours BEFORE I take my nutritional supplements or two hours AFTER I take my nutritional supplements. He said that this is because nutritional supplements can make the Neurontin less effective.
Avatar f tn If this is the first time you've experienced these symptoms in the 3 months you've been on Neurontin, I would highly doubt that the med is the culprit here. The symptoms you describe could be a result of a whole lot of things. Anxiety, for one, like you mentioned, you be the cause (or a contributing factor)...a virus...a simple change in your digestive patterns, GERD ("reflux"), etc etc.
Avatar f tn m on gabapentin, which is the generic for Neurontin. I was just raised from one 300mg tablet to 3 - 300 mg tablets a day. I'm doing it slowly and I'm just taking 2 as of now. So far it's working quite well on my sciatic and leg nerve pain that I have had since my Total Hip Implant that I had on September 8, 2010. I've only had the pills since November so I'm still new to it.
Avatar f tn Looking for people's experiences with Neurontin 1) in general and 2) specifically if its helpful for withdrawal. The poll is for people's experiences using Neurontin during withdrawal - not necessarily FOR withdrawal but just if you used during. lso let me know if you feel like it, what it actually helped with. If you have other experiences with it, please comment on this post and let me know. I was prescribed it weeks ago for facial pain, but I havent filled it.
Avatar f tn My Dr. just prescribed generic form of brand Neurontin, how long does it take to work? I have high anxiety (GAD) and have suffered from it for many years. I wish she would just give me something that would work immediately, because I hate feeling this way!
429700 tn?1308007823 m taking a generic of Neurontin (gabapentin). I saw your post on the TN and assumed without looking that that was what I was taking. I'm happy to hear that you have some good news on your blood work tests so that you can continue the Tegretol. How long have you had the TN? Does the Tegretol work for you better than you think the Neurontin? Your symptoms sound similar to mine. I had trouble with ON (diagnosed with it just after the MS diagnosis). I also have spasticity.
Avatar m tn I mentioned neurontin awhile back. There was a news episode where a clinic was using it as part of a detox plan. I went from taking around 200 mg of hydro to cold turkey. I've been through withdrawals without it so I know exactly how much the suck! I used neurontin and was able to go on with life. I still had the chills and some anxiety, but you was bearable. It really helped me the most with sleep. The only side effect I had from it was a tinge of a headache and a little fuzzy headed.
620923 tn?1452915648 Hi Laura, I am so glad u r moving forward....that's a good sign.I was on gabapentin the generic for neurontin....it did not help my HA's and it gave me other side effects , so I had to stop taking it. Everyone is diff , so give it the time ur dr suggested...if u have ne changes in how u feel report it to ur dr. The flow study will be a great test to get done...y 6 months tho??This is a slow moving process to deal with the medical community isn't it??
Avatar f tn My doctor gave me Neurontin for my extreme restlessness from withdrawals. I find it to be really helpful. Most of my withdrawals symptoms are shaking, RLS, and the feeling of needing to get out of my skin. The neurontin has stopped that and has even let me sleep. I was wondering if anyone knows more about this medication. I did some reading on it but someone told me that it can cause changes in personality. I asked to pharmacist and he told me that it might cause some mood changes.
Avatar f tn My doctor is having me go off it and take neurontin instead. I have fibermygalia neuropathy 2 fractures in back. He wants me to take 100 mg neurontin and 100 mg trazadone for three nights. I am doing it slower. Is it normal to feel funny sweaty and shaky during the day? I am having a hard time functioning.
Avatar f tn I am 17 years old and I have been taking Neurontin for 3 or 4 months, I take 9 300mg pills a day for chronic nerve pain in my leg that I have had for five years. Previously I was taking lyrica. Lyrica seemed to affect my vision so I switched to Neurontin. I feel like I am in a blur everyday and all the events meld together, also when I work or go to school I feel like I am working through a fog. I am wondering if people take this kind of medication for years?
Avatar f tn hello, i saw my dr. today and he gave me a new med, it is called NEURONTIN 300MG 3X DAILY, he said it would help with my pain and to start weeing off of th oxycontin, the generic name for this is called GABATENITN has anyone heard of this stuff, if so does it work??? i did do some research on it and it doesnt seem too bad, but anything is better than these oxy's,,,i cant wait to be off them completly, my weekend was horrible,,,i tried CT and thought i was gonna die....
1207048 tn?1282174304 My doctor has suggested I try neurontin (or I guess the generic version). I'm not very fond of taking medicine (I know, I'll have to get over that real quick if I get diagnosed LOL). I will most likely try this. I think my sleep is being interrupted after a few hours sleep because I'm uncomfortable. Not in pain so much, but sore and achey.
Avatar m tn s working which it appears to be. I am taking the Gabapentin (generic form). My insurance insists on generic unless otherwise noted. I have also been on Avonex for 9 years.
Avatar m tn Hi honey, and welcome: Does your doctor know you want to get off the tramadol? It is both an opiate and anti-depressant combined...you might want to let him/her know of your decision so they can help you. You've already experienced some withdrawals, and Yes, they are no fun. Unfortunately, there isn't any way to avoid feeling horrible while we get these drugs out of our system, and our bodies try to adjust to a whole new chemical state.
2932946 tn?1344722012 Also I have found that taking 600mg neurontin (generic name gabapentin) three times per day help make the pain a little more tolerable. Everyone is different and you will soon find a regimen that works for you. I also take a something for immediate relief of pain as well as something for depression.
317787 tn?1473358451 She said, this is ridiculous that he has done this to you and now wants me to help you. She gave me generic vicodin, at the time it had 750 mg of tylenol. I finally found a doctor who gave me Neurontin and that helped me quite a bit. As time went on I discovered this forum and found that I needed more water than I ever thought I could drink. I also started taking calcium, magnesium, zinc, potassium and at one point was drinking tonic/quinine water to try to help me.
Avatar f tn Tonight I went through my medicine cabinet... And threw out anything that was mine. The old prescriptions for random ailments, the neurontin that's dr gave me for my fibromyalgia, any potentially addictive OTC medicines. All that is left is medicine for my kids and my husband, and my vitamins. It was liberating and scary at the same time. Mainly because the neurontin has been helping me sleep. I want to sleep without it even though it's not an addictive drug.
