Common Questions and Answers about Neurontin for foot pain

neurontin

1983221 tn?1333506185 I take both gabapentin and amitriptilyne (Elavil) for my neuropathic foot pain. I started with 300mg gabapentin and worked my way up to 3600mg. I take 1200mg 3X/day. By itself it didn't do that much for my pain. We added 25mg amitriptilyne to the gabapentin and I saw some relief. We upped it to 50mg 1X/day and my pain was gone completely! I guess I'm luck not to have any side effects from either drug.
Avatar f tn For the past three or four years I have had severe pain in my toes when bearing weight on my foot. When sitting down there is no pain but when I stand and start walking the pain is extreme when bearing weight on the foot. Examination by a phisio, orthopedic surgeon and podiatrist have not been able to help. I have been prescibed various drugs including baclofen and pregabalin but still no joy. Anyone have a similar experience and information would be appreciated.
1091845 tn?1263162000 my one leg is much worse than the other and on this side I too have pain down into my foot...the foot will burn but not the leg/legs....with the legs its more of a tightness/muscle spasm feeling and the non stop ache... (hey I too need SPELL CHECK, you are NOT alone here either!) I have discribed my leg pain as they feel like they are encased in cement...maybe more accurate is they feel like they are CEMENT...heavy,hard to bend, and SOLID...
Avatar f tn I am taking neurontin for the chronic leg pain and heaviness, they are saying sciatica, but i tend to disagree, and want to lower the dose since i see no differences, but the second i lower the dose i feel "funny".
15312090 tn?1439781706 I am always in constant pain and I take tramadol and Neurontin for that. I have a hard time keeping up with my grandkids and it is very frustrating to me to be in constant pain. please help!!!!The tramadol and Neurontin both make me very tired in general.
420469 tn?1217647363 I imagine yours must be worse to deal with since it sounds more disruptive, coming and going like that so often. Mine is constant, and I kind of just get used to it. Also, generally I would think foot pain is worse than arm pain in terms of affecting overall functioning. Applying pressure works somewhat for me as well. I'm still using a compression bandage most days, which helps a lot.
Avatar n tn Most of the time I still use the same number of pills per day of everything but I can switch up the schedule to get a milder or stronger effect depending on if I am having a good pain day or a flare up day. On flare up days, when I take the neurontin in conjunction with either percocet or valium 2 hours after the extended release morphine gets going, I get super fuzzy for awhile but my pain flare also goes down a lot too.
5862405 tn?1378570692 well thanks for your comment there. I'm not sure again the numbness on my outside yet or I guess it would be my thigh and does not happen all the time just once in awhile it a couple times a month and the biggest biggest problem again is the burning sensation in my feet so I'm going to go ahead and continue taking mine iron I'm doing 600 milligrams per day try that I guess for a couple more days.
Avatar f tn I have told several people who have had this type pain and they have gotten their dr to prescribe for them and it has worked well for all of them. It did not help my back pain but certainly was a miracle for that sciatic nerve leg pain.
Avatar f tn Have you tried Neurontin for the nerve pain. I am on that drug for my neuropathy. Good luck to you!!
20822544 tn?1523771330 that med is used for chronic pain epilepsy TBI mood stabilizer and diabetic foot pain.
545693 tn?1214494153 I am 25 years old and recently diagnosed with M.S. and recently started experiencing an unsual symptom. While walking, sitting it doesn't matter, the bottom of one foot will suddenly become almost hot. To touch it, it's still cold/room temperature, but on the inside of my foot it's a warm sensation. It's as if I stepped on a heating pad, but not quite as hot. What would cause this? There is no pain associated with it, it's just a warming sensation in the bottom of my foot.
780133 tn?1236228598 I am concerned because prior to surgery the ortho opted to forego an MRI and we discussed possible infections and wound complications, but there was no mention of possible neuropathy and me being in such severe pain that I if not cured, I would rather have the foot amputated. Any other suggestions for pain reduction would also be welcome.
1831849 tn?1383228392 I have taken gabapentin for neuropathic foot pain. It worked well for a while, in tandem with Elavil. I had no side effects, but it eventually stopped working, so I swithed to another anti-seizure med called Lyrica. Anyone else have gabapentin experience to share?
Avatar f tn My 10 year old son was perscribed gabapentin/neurontin (in combination with a few other drugs) for his nerve pain. It definitely helped but the side affects are a huge trade-off. He gained a considerable amount of weight too but I attruibuted that mostly to the fact that all he did was eat, sleep & be foggy - and wasn't able to be his normal active self. He's since been off the meds and the weight has come off too as he's now able to resume most his normal activities.

Avatar f tn I am having really awful intermittent pain in my arm. My neuro wrote a script for Lyrica. My big concern about these nerve pain drugs (Neurontin too) is the weight gain side effect. I struggle w/weight as it is and don't look forward to adding more. Please let me know what you may have experienced.
758281 tn?1234115374 When the spasms are bad the swelling gets bigger and turns a blue-black, when the spasms subside the swelling shrinks and the skin returns to a normal colour. I am on Neurontin for the pain, which does nothing. Hope someone can help.
574423 tn?1258658571 a few of us here have foot pain; for me, it seems a circulatory problem more than fibro related; i have similar feet tingling mildly, and legs hurt [muscular], and sometimes feel like veins are distended when i stand up after lying down. i'm also on magnesium and vit d which feel like they're doing good...
Avatar n tn Through late August of 2008, I continued to have the sharp knee pain and foot numbness so I thought I better have a Dr. take a look at it. The Dr. thought it may have been a Bakers Cyst and asked that I get an X-ray (to look at the joint) and an ultrasound to look for the cyst. No cyst was found and the Dr. recommended physical therapy. I turned down the offer of physical therapy and just stretched things myself. While at the Dr. I was also asked if I had a tetanus shot lately.
5135507 tn?1367163227 worse than ever, from buttock to foot....numbness below left knee and left side of left foot. Some burning starting in right foot....neurontin helps it, but does nothing for left side. Surgery consult consited of him telling me rods n screws would make me feel worse. Taking scar tissue off left sciatic nerve could result in paralysis. Morphine pump was his suggestion but I'm not doing that. Going for 2nd opinion. What are your thoughts? ?
